S H I P P OShippo thought for a moment. "Well, he is a fox." He offered a short smile. Then he turned to Hotaru. "I guess that means we should go. The scent is leading in that direction." He pointed toward a shadowy opening in the trees. He settled onto Hotaru's shoulder. Since he was so light, he wouldn't be a burden to her. Otherwise he would have just jumped up on the older fox like he does with Inuyasha.

Nodding at the two foxes, she turned and headed in the direction Shippo pointed to. "They will find us. The fox will be able to find us with not much hassle." It was the truth. All he would need to do was feel for her through their bond and he would be able to track them down. he would know the minute her scent mingled with Shippo's that she was with them.
As she felt Shippo settle, she felt a sadness fill her. Usually Hiro would move next to her, occasionally brushing against her.legs. He reminded her of Hiro in some ways. As they entered the trees, Hotaru spoke up. "Kit, why are you not with your parents?" She had no idea of Shippo's tragedy and honestly wondered where they were and why he wasn't with them.

Kaede merely smiled as she replied, "You're welcome. It's no trouble at all. If I may ask, what is your name?" Her expression softened to sympathetic understanding as Demona mentioned the new moon. That would certainly explain why she was so tense around the villagers earlier and why she'd seemed so desperate to find shelter. "Ah, Inuyasha has the same problem. Like ye, he's part dog demon. Well, you're perfectly welcome to stay in my hut if ye like. Hopefully there won't be an attack tonight, otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to evacuate the village. I think we'll have a better chance of saving more lives if we leave rather than standing to fight. Even what little power left to me from over the years that I still possess has been no match against the demons. With our more able-bodied friends split into two groups and on separate rescue missions, I'm afraid we'll have to fend for ourselves tonight."Kaede gave a fond smile as she thought of Inuyasha. "Let me see now, what can I tell ye about Inuyasha?" She paused in thought for a moment before continuing, "He has a bit of a temper and has a reckless, hasty nature which at times can cause him to jump to the wrong conclusions. Despite his faults, he's a decent sort though he'll never admit it. As for Naraku..." Once again, Kaede's expression became a scowl as she mentioned Naraku's name. "Naraku is our sworn enemy, and a formidable foe at that. He has the power to change his form at will and enjoys complex traps just to play with the emotions of his victims. Fifty years ago, he killed my older sister Kikyo while disguised as Inuyasha. But before my sister died, she managed to seal the real Inuyasha to a tree." While the stew simmered in her cooking pot, Kaede explained as best she could how Naraku, just for the sake of obtaining the Sacred Jewel, had tricked Inuyasha and Kikyo into thinking one had betrayed the other when it had really been Naraku who disguised himself as Inuyasha when confronting Kikyo, and later in the guise of Kikyo when with Inuyasha. Kaede told of how her sister Kikyo requested the Jewel to be burned with her body and that a girl named Kagome was actually the reincarnation of her sister. She explained how Kagome accidentally shattered the Jewel and had the help of Inuyasha, along with several friends they'd met along the way, to help reclaim the shards of the Sacred Jewel. "...but it seems Naraku has gathered most of the shards already and has gained new powers. He is now able to produce incarnations such as Kagura the wind sorcoress." Kaede smiled as Demona complimented the smell of her stew. "Thank you, I hope it's as good as it smells. I've made plenty, so feel free to help yourself to as much as you like." She ate some of her own bowl of stew while listening to Demona's offer to help protect the village. "That's a very generous offer my dear, but we must focus on getting through the night first before I consider accepting it. You're young, and while I admire your bravery in volunteering for such a task, I'm still reluctant to willingly put ye in harm's way." She put a kind hand on Demona's shoulder and gave her a gentle reassuring squeeze as she replied, "Ah, now helping you trust others I can do. Don't worry, that will only take some time and a little getting used to being around other people. Just show everyone ye don't meant any harm and help out around the village where ye can. Our Lori would help out by playing with the village children and cooking their meals." Her expression saddened as she concluded, "I wish both Lori and Kino a safe return and hope our friends find them soon."

Demona the Exiled hanyou "Not really a demon; not really human.... "My name is Demona I came from the Southwestern dog demon tribe" she said softly introducing herself. She listened to Kaede tell her who Inuyasha and Naraku were and she was glad that she had not heard of Naraku, for it kept her safe to be not exposed to the evil enemy the old priestess told her about. She sighed happily glad that she had eaten something and helped herself to some more stew, "I've been wondering through the forest and thankfully I haven't seen or heard of Naraku," she said looking up at Kaede smiling warmly from eating "I've heard about the jewel through other demons but I've never seen it though." Demona really wanted to help even when she was going to transform into a human that night and that she could get hurt doing so. She turned to look at Kaede comforted with the reassuring squeeze, "Thanks and I'll try to help every way I can" she said, "I hope those who were taken return safely." She looked at the sheathed sword that laid beside her deep in thought, "I may be young but with this sword I can prove to everyone that I'm not weak and I will fight for this village I'm not afraid to get hurt I will have to fight Suikotsu to earn my rightful place as leader as my mother wanted." she thought silently to herself.
Her white dog ears twitched as the fire crackled disrupting her thoughts and she looked up at Kaede giving her a full view of the scar over her left eye, "I'm not afraid to fight I have been fighting every day of my life since I was sealed forty years ago when I was exciled from my clan." Demona said sounding very determined. The young female hanyou thought back to just after she was accidently freed from her prison for 40 years when she had only her claws to defend herself and then to when Totosai gave her the Blue Destiny the sword she had inherited from her mother Utsugi. Demona sighed softly, "I was destined to be a strong leader of my clan and I will fight for this village to prove my worth and show that I am stronger then they think." she said clenching her hand into a fist then quickly ate her second bowl of stew.
....I'm not either. That's all."

Kaede gave a warm smile as Demona introduced herself. "Well met Demona, it is certainly a pleasure. For your own sake, I'm glad ye haven't had a run-in with Naraku either. He is unmistakably a bad sort and best avoided altogether if ye can. As for the Shikon Jewel, it causes nothing but trouble to those who wind up involved with it."She frowned as she silently listened to Demona insisting on volunteering herself to help protect the village along with the girl's explanations as to why it was so important to her to prove herself. Kaede was so reminded of Inuyasha, she secretly wondered if all dog demons had a stubborn streak or if it was merely a select few. Heaving a long sigh, Kaede reluctantly nodded her head as she spoke in a weary tone, "Oh, all right. I'm not at all happy with sending ye out to possibly do battle especially with the new moon drawing so near...but seeing how important this is to ye, I suppose ye would go anyway whether ye had approval or not. At least this way ye won't be entirely alone. I'll make sure the villagers are there as backup in case anything goes wrong. Does that sound fair?"

Demona the Exiled hanyou "Not really a demon; not really human.... She nodded quietly, "Me too I'm not interested in that sort of stuff" she said looking at the old priestess thankful for her kindness. Demona remained determined that she could help fight off demons who dared to attack the village with her sword even when the new moon was approaching. "Thanks for letting me help its the least I could do" she said finishing her second bowl of stew and sat back with a happy and content sigh. "It sounds perfectly fair to me thanks Kaede" she said glad that she would have backup against an attacking demon instead of having to fight it off on her own. She quietly leaned against the wall with her sword laying beside her starting to doze off from traveling nearly all day. Demona snoozed for a few moments but her nap was interrupted and her ears twitched focusing on where the sounds were coming from and she sniffed the air as well, "Something doesn't smell right" she said growling and grabbed her sword moving quickly to the door to peek outside. She listened intently and her dog ears were perked up and swiveled picking up the sounds outside the hut.
....I'm not either. That's all."

The sky... The sea... There is always a place to be... Izuna! Masato Tanaka Go Shikigami! The young man struggled a bit at the sounds of the people inside. The voices echoed the hut as he laid there against the wall of the hut, not a sound was heard from him. His eyes slowly opened, his gaze at the wooden floor beneath him. With his free hand, he rubbed his left eye to be rid of his sleep. His gaze followed up to an old woman, blurred from just awakening of his rest. When his vision slowly came to, the blurred figure was actually Kaede, but why was she present? He glanced around, studied his surroundings to learn that he was still in the hut. If he's here, then he hadn't taken off from the village. A few of his Shikigami were curled up around him, undisturbed to what's going on of the outside world. He sat there, everything seemed peaceful and quiet without the sounds of any assault in alert. Masato looked over to Kaede, her back still turned to him. He shook his head a little, now rustling through his hair, rubbing his head from the swore spot of laying against the hard surface for too long. "What happened to me?" He spoke up, trying to find a clear answer for waking up at this time.

Kaede merely gave another sigh as she replied, "Aye...you're welcome, but please don't make me regret my decision by getting yourself injured." Kaede snapped to full alert as Demona rushed outside claiming something didn't smell right. She was temporarily distracted by the sight of Masato and silently rebuked herself for forgetting he was there. "Masato? What on earth are ye still doing here, I thought ye planned to leave with the search party for Lorelai and Kino?" After a quick glance around her small hut, it appeared Gramps had already left with Shippo. "See if ye can find Kurama or Keito if they haven't left already. Can your little fox friends track them down?" She gave a bow in apology as she explained, "I'd help, but right now I must find out what's upset Demona."Leaving Masato to make his own decisions, Kaede quickly left the hut and went to Demona's side. "What's the matter, Demona? Is something wrong?"

The sky... The sea... There is always a place to be... Izuna! Masato Tanaka Go Shikigami! Masato glanced up to Kaede, but before he could respond, she already have left the hut. She may have been in a hurry, but she was right as well. The Shikigami stirred a bit before waking up, glancing what was going on at the moment. Masato slowly rose from his spot, the Shikigami jumped off him as he got back to his feet. The thought of using his Shikigami gave him a different idea than what Kaede explained to him. He walked out into the cool night air, he gave a good stretch before he would take any action. He slid his hands into the pockets of his jacket and glanced down at the little foxes. "Help search for the others. Two of you find Kurama and Keito here in in the village." Each of them nodded with two of them dispersing from his orders. The remaining Shikigami took the time to search for the scents of the others. While in wait, he spotted Kaede with another individual outside. Who was that with Kaede?Location - Kaede's Village Action - Making preparations Conversation - Shikigami Kind of mood - Calm and ready. Objective - Rescue Lorelai and Kino. Demona the Exiled hanyou "Not really a demon; not really human.... Demona stood outside dog ears perked and drew out her sword in which it transformed and the hilt remained unchanged but the markings on the blade were still very visible. She growled and looked around not sure where the scent was coming from and raised her blade not really acknowledging that Kaede was behind her now, "I smell a demon but I can't place where its coming from." she said letting out a feral snarl. She soon charged into the trees with demon speed disappearing from sight. The hanyou didn't realize the sun was setting and soon she would transform into a human as soon as it went down. This would prove her worth and gain her acceptance into the village. Demona knew this fight could badly injure or kill her while she was human but now that she had a chance to show she could protect the village. "I have to beat this demon but thankfully I have help this time." she thought as she went after the demon.

At Demona's informing Kaede there was a demon ahead, she quickly called the attention of the villagers. "Quickly! I need all able-bodied men to follow me! Be on your guard everyone, a demon approaches! We must aid Demona in killing it!" Kaede mounted a horse and turned to follow Demona only to realize the girl had already rushed on ahead. "Demona, ye mustn't charge ahead by yourself! Look, the sun is about to set! You will be vulnerable to the demon's attacks without help!" Kaede took note of the rustling and breaking trees ahead and realized Demona was heading in that direction. Whatever it was, it was certainly huge. Kaede just prayed Demona would at least be able to get in one good strike with her sword and end it quickly before she transformed into her human form. She hoped for Demona's sake it was one of the weaker demons. There were times when even a big demon could be a weakling that even a band of humans could take down. Kaede just hoped now was one of those times. As Kaede and the village men caught up to Demona, they finally got a good look at what they were facing. ((What manner of demon do you think it should be? Giant lizard or something of that nature?))

The sky... The sea... There is always a place to be... Izuna! Masato Tanaka Go Shikigami! With Kaede and the stranger gone, he stayed behind back in the village waiting for the spirits to pick up the scent of his allies. For those two along with the villagers running off into the depths of the forest, there must have been a yokai lurking around. Should he have gone with them to fend off the demon or should he catch up with the party to search for Lorelai and Kino. This was a decision he had to make, if he were to leave then the village may get attacked by the yokai running around though if he were to go on ahead, then he would meet up to backup with his friends. To help or search, which could he do? It's not like he could be on both halves of the situation! The stranger that ran ahead was a yokai right? Perhaps she was helping them when she ran ahead past Kaede. He paused for a moment in thought, kaede had told him to go on ahead. He would feel guilty if the village were to go under attack, but he also promised to save the girls. He took a deep breath and exhaled, he would go find them and know that they would be alright without him. "Let's go." The spirits nodded, they have caught the scent and traced it back to another direction away from the village. Masato ran after the Shikigami's trail as they weave through the forest.

Demona the Exiled hanyou "Not really a demon; not really human.... She snarled as she leaped up and swung her blade sending a huge blade of wind at the demon but as she did she turned to look at the sun which was already nearly set, "Damn it!" she growled under her breath as the demon swiped at the hanyou knocking her into a trunk of a tree causing the tree to shake violently. Demona got to her feet and raised her blade now noticing Kaede approaching with many of the villagers obviously in pain. Her silver hair suddenly turned black and all of her demon features turned human at the same time the Blue Destiny reverted back to its untransformed state, "No not now!" she thought nearly in a panic, "I have to fight this demon and protect the village hanyou or not." She charged again swinging her sword though she knew that the sword wasn't as strong as it would be when it was fully transformed but she had to try. She slashed the sword at the demon attempting to keep the villagers safe even when she was now a human for the night only angering the demon more and it slashed at her with its claws slashing her right arm deeply. Demona nearly dropped her sword from the pain but was now on the defensive only using her weapon to defend herself.
....I'm not either. That's all." (A lizard demon sounds good and Demona's gonna get hurt)

Kaede gave a yell in alarm as Demona refused to back down after changing into her human form. "Nay, child! Ye mustn't push yourself in your current state! Don't be so reckless!" Turning to the village men accompanying her Kaede quickly instructed, "We must help Demona before she gets herself killed! Archers! Aim for any weak spots on that lizard beast ye can find like the eyes, but for pity's sake try not to shoot the girl!" Kaede was afraid with Demona being so close to the lizard her archers might shoot her instead by accident. Turning to the remaining village men who were weilding spears, pitchforks, shovels and clubs for weapons, Kaede instructed, "The rest of ye, your job is to keep the beast distracted while I try to maim it. After that, the rest is up to Demona but be ready in case she needs further assistance."
As instructed, the archers shot arrows aimed at the lizard's face and head. Quite a few managed to find their mark just behind the lizard's eyes while one arrow found its right eyeball. While the lizard thrashed around in pain, the rest of the villagers attacked around its feet by bludgeoning with all their strength any part of the lizard's body that was within easy reach. Meanwhile, Kaede shot a purification arrow at the lizard's left arm, causing the limb to disintegrate as it was purified. Now she hoped Demona would at least have a fighting chance with the lizard demon, but kept her men ready just in case Demona should need their help again.

Demona the Exiled hanyou "Not really a demon; not really human.... Demona held her sword with one hand as blood dripped from her right hand and she looked back at Kaede glad that she was there to help her fight this demon. She stood off to the side obviously injured but also attracted the attention of the demon who now came after her. She lifted her sword and stood in a defensive stance but then charged when she saw that Kaede had disintegrated the demon's arm seeing her chance to finish the demon off but found it hard to get to it's weak spot. The demon slashed at her again this time getting her across her right upper arm making her drop her sword and fell to her knees in pain, "Damn demon!" she grumbled under her breath in anger and frustration. She couldn't fight any longer the pain in her arm caused her to tremble violently and she hoped that Kaede could finish the demon off before she passed out from her wounds. "Kaede" she called weakly grasping her wounds with her hand not sure if the lizard demon was poisonous or not. The arm of her top were soaked in blood and she felt like she was going to pass out from pain and blood loss. The now human hanyou slowly stood using her sword to help her stand though now blood dripped from her hand onto the ground letting the old priestess see the extent of her wounds silently knowing she could not fight any longer. The demon charged Demona and slammed her into a tree knocking her unconscious.
