"Oh Morning!"
Charlotte had just finished placing their plate on the table with their breakfast. She still had bed hair an looked like a mess but she would fix it before heading over for the festival. "Naw, I got it." Already cleaning up the dirty pans and bowls she used.

North Carolina poured herself some orange juice once she sat down to eat her share. This moment very much reminded her of when she took care of the little colony back at her place, not the palace that was used during the Revolution era, her own home before her statehood.

Once she finished her plate, Charlotte got up and grabbed her things. "I'll see you there to set up." And went off to get ready for the big day.

The State of Tennessee
Andrew S. Hickory

Andrew sat down and ate across from his sister as he blushed faintly and recalled a time when she used to cook all his meals for him and they would eat together like this. It was... nice. He liked being together like this with his sister although he never knew how to say it or if he should say it.

Before he could muster up the courage to properly thank Charlotte she was out the door and running off to get prepared for the festival. Oh, right. Tennessee sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. Unlike many of the other students, his preparations for the festival had ironically started before he even knew there was going to be one. The young man went back to his room and fished out some of his own home grown goodies that he had brought on a whim as well as his beloved fiddle, Knoxville. He couldn't help smiling a bit as he admired his former capital. Back when he was little he had always thought it was the most beautiful instrument in the world and he still deeply treasured it.

The Tennessean gathered his things, threw on some regular clothes then paused just outside of Georgia's room. He glanced inside at the mess of CDs he had left on the floor. His eyes narrowed slightly when he found himself feeling a nasty sort of satisfaction rather than regret for messing up his brother's things as his heart stung with vindictive pleasure. Andrew sighed and shook his head as he went to the door.

"Come on, Iris! Violet, you can come, too," he announced to his animals. They were just as much a part of his culture as anything else, after all. The boy lingered for a moment as he glanced back at Brat and Dog. "I guess y'all can come along if you want..." Since it was going to be an Appalachian themed cultural booth the Georgian bobcat and gofer turtle had just as much right to be a part of it if they so chose. He didn't wait to see if they would be interested in joining or not as he headed down towards the festival grounds to set up.

Georgia arrived to his dorm, cradling his frightened bobcat while being followed by his frightened boyfriend. He sighed slightly and sat the bobcat on the ground. He then walked into his room and was greeted by the sight of several broken CDs. His eyes went wide and he blinked in surprise before his face went red in slight anger. So, this was how Andrew felt about Christian being here, huh? He just felt he had a right to come into his room and break his things?!

He picked up the broken CDs and noticed one was a CD he and Tennessee had worked on together. He felt his stomach begin to hurt and he tossed the shattered remains into the trash can near his desk. He went to his computer and booted it up before putting a blank CD into the laptop and downloading the song that the brothers had worked on together. After the song downloaded, he popped the CD out and wrote, "This is what you threw away" in sharpie on the blank surface of the disk. He then went to Tennessee's room and inserted the CD into the boy's computer and shut it down once more so that when Andrew turned the computer on he would hear the song and feel bad.

He returned to his room once more and shut his computer off before packing it in the carrying case he'd brought it in. He then packed his CDs and games and put them in the case. He quickly went over to the closet and took all of his shirts and clothes out and dumped them on the bed. The last thing he pulled out, meaning it was the first thing on top of his bed, was the girl's uniform that he had been forced to wear when he had been a girl. His face turned bright red and he turned to Florida with a sharp glare.
"Don't ask, 'cause I ain't wearin' it! My boss sent it here as a joke!" He quickly grabbed his suit case and began shoving clothing into it. However, after a while, he realized his packing was slowing down. Still he kept going. once all of the clothes were tossed into the suitcase, he went to the desk once more and ripped open a drawer.
And the first thing he saw was an old picture of him and his younger brother playing together.

Georgia froze for a moment. His hand lingered over the picture before he felt himself begin to shake and his eyes began to water. He then squeezed his eyes shut and began to sob.

Florida hovered outside of the bedroom but didn't follow Christian in at first although he grew increasingly curious what was going on. Georgia certainly was taking his time and he had to wonder why he'd just gone into Tennessee's room... Curious now, he poked his head inside the bedroom in time to see the girl's uniform. He grinned and his eyes all but sparkled with mischievousness. There was a part of him that wanted to ask if his boyfriend was planning on dressing up for him later, but that hope was quickly squished by instant denial. Still... Rutilio wasn't going to forget about the uniform and its provocatively short skirt which looked ill equipped for containing all that junk in Georgia's trunk.

Florida chuckled lightly and tried to act innocent over his intentions while he mentally filed away this little tidbit for later. In the meantime he noticed the slow and steady decline of Georgia's pace which finally ended in him buckling under the emotional pressure he was under. His amused smile slid into a soft frown as he walked over to the younger state and gently pulled him away from the drawer to draw him into a hug.

"Christian... are you certain you want to do this?" he asked gently. "You do not need to move out if you do not want to... I am willing to wait until at least the first date before we start living together." Rutilio joked lightly as he tried to brush away a few of his boyfriend's tears.

Georgia sniffled as he clung onto Florida's shirt, trying o get himself to stop crying. the scent of oranges that always seemed to linger on Florida and the warmth Florida gave off was comforting, but he just couldn't get himself to stop crying. Not fully. Eventually, Georgia looked up to Rutilio, tears still in his cyan eyes. "I- I don't want to move, but.... But I don't think I'd really feel safe living with my brother an more.... H- He made it clear earlier that he basically wants to me to go die under a rock somewhere, so why would he be willing to let me stay here...." He gave another soft sob before burying his face into Florida's neck. Even Stone Mountain seemed to be drooping with how sad Georgia felt.

"M- Maybe I should just move my clothes, computer, and weapons and leave the rest for now.... I- I just don't feel up to really moving everything out just yet...."

Rutilio blinked. Then blinked again as he looked down at Christian. Was he being serious right now? Were they talking about the same little brother who had almost burnt Florida to the ground a few times then conquered him just because he thought the former Spaniard was being "mean" to Georgia? There was no one in the Union who went further out of their way nor was more protective of the Georgian than Tennessee. Even South Carolina had left her baby brother to fend for himself but never the little guitar psycho. Yet Georgia was scared of that same kid?

"You think... Tennessee would really hurt you?" Rutilio asked slowly as he tried to confirm this for certain even as he hugged Christian to comfort him. "Has he ever hurt you before? I mean seriously tried to hurt you?" Something about that didn't sit right with him, but he hadn't always been around to observe the brothers. Maybe there was some sort of underlying extreme domestic violence going on he wasn't aware of... Tennessee didn't seem like the sort to do such things but he had heard of odder things happening, he supposed.

"If you are truly that scared of him then we can go now," he suggested. "I did not realize he was that dangerous of a person."

Georgia looked up to Rutilio tears still streaming down his face sadly. Was his brother that dangerous? Georgia had always loved Tennessee and given the boy the benefit of the doubt. When people called him a guitar psycho, Georgia would whip out is own guitar and beat them with it while yelling "Who's the guitar psycho now?!" If people said Tennessee was a hateful little brat that hated contact, Georgia would snuggle the younger boy in front of them to prove that Tennessee was just rough, not hateful. But....

After this morning....

Georgia rubbed at his eyes with the back of his hand, feeling absolutely miserable.
"I don't know.... He normally isn't, but.... We've fought in the past, and he's never out right told me to drop dead, nor has he ever used a weapon against me. That was sort of an unestablished rule of ours, kinda like you an' me not goin' after family. But..... He did. He nearly took my hand off with a tomahawk and called me Christian. Christian! he's only ever called me that when he was desperate or just that upset with me, but... But this time, it was different." Georgia felt his eyes starting to fill with tears once more and once again buried his face into the former Spaniard's shoulder. Just like how Florida got worried over Landon's apology, Christian was honestly a little freaked by Andrew using the middle name that he'd been fighting tooth and nail to get the younger state to call him by since nearly the Revolutionary War.

As Florida offered for them to leave now, Georgia nodded his head. He wasn't sure when Tennessee would come back, and he honestly didn't want to have to deal with any blood lust the younger boy might throw at him since, as far as he felt, Andrew probably now saw him as an enemy and as someone who was no longer a member of the family that he'd nearly died for time and time again.

Florida wasn't sure what to make of Tennessee's change in attitude towards Georgia either. It just seemed so odd to him that the younger state would turn against his big brother so suddenly and violently without much warning. Rutilio bit his lip lightly and wondered if maybe, just maybe, he should ask California about it...

For the moment he decided not to worry about what sort of involvement his baby brother might have done to Christian's baby brother after feeling so spurned. What mattered was taking care of his distraught boyfriend and getting him somewhere he would feel safe and loved. Sadly, the best he had to offer was his dorm where Cuba had already made it fairly obvious he didn't like the Georgian. Oh, well. Beggars couldn't be choosers.

Rutilio placed a reassuring kiss on Christian's cheek before grabbing one of the bags he had already packed with his clothes. "Let's go, then," he said as he took his boyfriend's hand to support him during this difficult move.

Georgia rubbed at his eyes to try and getting himself to stop crying as Rutilio placed a soft kiss on his cheek. He felt rather pathetic and vulnerable at the moment, so he was glad that Florida recognized this and wasn't taunting him or taking advantage of him. He grabbed his laptop case filled with the remaining CDs and games that Tennessee hadn't broken before going to his bed and pocketing the tomahawks he had stored under the pillow and mattress and grabbing his M16 along with the magazines and ammunition. He then picked up the old Spanish guitar and also slung it on his back, making sure ti wouldn't get ruined in the transfer. Once all was gathered, he felt Rutilio take his hand.

He smiled gently, feeling better already. That's right. Just last night he had said that even if his family turned against him, at least he would have Rutilio. And he did. He felt Brat rub against his leg and couldn't help but wonder where Dog was. Well, wherever the turtle was, he was sure he was fine and would find his way back to Georgia. His little "spirit animal" always had.
"Thank you," he said as he followed Rutilio out. However, he took one last glance at his now mostly empty room and the desk drawer that held the picture of him and his brother before he left.

The State of Tennessee
Andrew S. Hickory

Andrew felt exhausted after finally making his way home and just tossed his stuff in the hall except for the purple lei and koa club Hawaii had left with him. His body felt completely drained and he didn't have the energy to worry about what might be waiting for him at home. The day hadn't been all bad and he blushed softly to himself as he recalled America giving him a pat on the head. Sometimes it really was the smallest gestures that could make things feel all better. Still, he was emotionally and physically worn down after all the drama and illness. The Tennessean all but collapsed onto the couch since it was the first piece of furniture he saw. All he wanted to do was close his eyes and rest...

Laying there it only felt like minutes had passed, but when he opened his eyes again it was morning. Andrew was more than a little startled to realize he spent the night on the couch again. During all that time he never once heard a peep outside of the animals who had followed him back to the dorm which was a little odd. Andrew eventually lifted his head and glanced in the direction of Georgia's room. While he suspected his sibling had gone into hiding like he usually did when he was upset, normally there would at least be some sound of life, right? The boy frowned softly and, as angry as he was and despite his decision not to care what happened to his big brother anymore, he couldn't ignore the warning signs that something might be seriously wrong. No one was that quiet... Especially not someone Tennessee had anticipated would come after him for breaking his CDs the other night.

Andrew lifted himself from the couch and quietly crept to his brother's room to see what the blonde might be up to. Very carefully he peeked inside. Nothing. No, not just nothing. There was a distinct lack of anything. Tennessee's eyes widened as he snapped on the light and surveyed the room that had been nearly cleared out.

Georgia was gone...

Tennessee stared quietly at the room as it sunk in that Christian hadn't just run off into hiding while he sulked. He had literally run away. While it was true Andrew had accused his elder brother of shutting the rest of them out when things went wrong he hadn't actually expected Georgia to take it this far. All he could do was stand there in the doorway of his brother's empty room before quietly shutting off the light again and slinking back to the couch. He curled up on it and hugged one of the pillows against him as he laid in the empty dorm with no one but himself and the animals.

"... idiot..." he mumbled as he buried his face into the pillow. Andrew had known this about Christian but he didn't want it to be proven to him. Whatever reason the elder state had it all came down to the fact that, despite all they had been through together in the past, and despite all the times his big brother had tried to reassure him he wasn't dangerous, and despite all the times Tennessee had tried to reach out to Georgia so he wouldn't feel like a mere meat shield, in the end George Christian Jones had no faith nor trust in him and wouldn't hesitate to shut him out entirely when things went wrong. Though Andrew had said it at the festival he hadn't wanted it to be true. He hadn't wanted to be right.

Deep down he had always wanted to believe that, no matter what, Christian would still believe in him. Maybe Tennessee was the one who had been lying to himself all this time.

Andrew laid on the couch for a while longer before sighing and dragging himself off of it to go get changed. There was no sense in laying around and he had other things to worry about besides stupid Georgia and his stupid stupidness. Once he was dressed the boy returned to the couch and looked at the koa club still laying by the couch. He frowned lightly and sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. He definitely had other things to worry about...

He reached down and snagged up the club before heading off to return it to its owner.

Tennessee returned from the beach tired and feeling groggy after the health alert his boss had sent him. To be honest, he wasn't entirely sure what meningitis did nor what exactly this rare form of it was. Apparently it was pretty serious, but Andrew was hoping that so long as it didn't spread any more maybe it wouldn't bother him too much as a state. He glanced down at his phone messages and paled when he saw that since his boss contacted him the number of cases within his borders had jumped from 29 to 32. Great.

The Tennessean groaned softly as he dragged himself to bed already feeling the fever coming on as the massive outbreak started to weigh heavily on his own personal health. He really didn't need this on top of the economic issues he and everyone else were already dealing with. Maybe he'd stay home from school tomorrow if his fever was too high.

Andrew groaned lightly as he woke and laid in bed listening to his alarm shriek at him. He stared at it almost as if unable to understand why it would be making so much noise. Belatedly he finally raised a hand to turn it off and rubbed at his eyes. He felt nauseous and his whole body ached. The state didn't even need to check his messages to tell that more cases of the current outbreak had been uncovered. He could feel them. Eventually he managed to drag himself out of bed and went to the cabinets only to remember Georgia was the one that kept the medicine. Most likely when the elder state had moved out he had taken his CDC gear with him.

Tennessee ran a hand through his hair in frustration and miserably resignation that he needed to go out to the store. Though he loathed to get out of his comfortable pajamas he resented the idea of letting his fever and aches persist unchecked by modern medicine. He shuffled back to his room and threw on some comfortable old jeans and a slightly over sized hoody before heading out in search of relief from his symptoms. Screw his governor's warnings. He didn't need a doctor or a hospital; he just needed some aspirin!

The State of Tennessee

Tennessee barely made it back to the dorm and got the door closed behind him before slumping against the wall. His head was throbbing and vision blurring. He had thought his condition was finally stabilizing only to get hit with another wave of new cases and two more deaths. Andrew didn't bother to check the exact numbers but he knew this was the worst increase so far. Slowly he slid into a small heap on the floor while he struggled not to succumb to his fever. Hopefully this too would pass. It always seemed worse when the new cases broke out. If he could just keep from losing consciousness he would probably be fine soon.

... Although Andrew couldn't help thinking that sleep sounded good even if it might technically be considered fainting. Slowly he found himself less interested in trying to make it to the bed or even the couch as he sunk over on his side and seriously considered a nap right there. Just as his eyes slid shut he felt something warm, soft and disapproving nudging him and blinked up at Iris. The mare's eyes were filled with concern as she stood over him. It was rare for Tennessee to get sick. Sure he was danger prone and she had known him to come home with random bullet or knife wounds as a rowdy young boy, but she couldn't think of many times Andrew had come down with more than a light head cold or a few sniffles. She expected him to try to wave off her concern or tell her to leave him alone, but all she got out of her state was a blank, feverish stare before he tried to bury his face in his arms and take a nap on the ground.

That didn't seem like a very promising sign... Was it really ok to let him sleep there?

After somehow managing to loose sight of Christine from all the fuss back in history, Charlotte went ahead to her dorm and grabbed a few things that she knew her 'sister' would need far as clothing that would help minimize revealing certain things that girls shouldn't been showing at a school. If boys were caught with pants sagging or girls with showing midriffs, cleavage, or their skirts were an index card above the knees at any of the North Carolina schools, you would be automatically sent home. It was to promote a more professional wear and habit once students graduate expecting decent jobs. Though if the school board would quit changing the rules every other year, maybe parents and children wouldn't complain as much on the dress code.

Since they had agreed to visit Andrew right after class, she figured meeting by the door would be best. Chris did say that she had to grab her things from Rutilio's dorm. Not to mention, wanting to make sure Chris' sudden change wouldn't cause Drew into another smother attack.

Georgia arrived shortly after North Carolina, clearly trying to hide some form of anger or annoyance as she dragged Rutilio behind her. After such a wonderful time, now he was refusing to give her back the only pair of panties she had and didn't care if she accidently flashed the school?! Well! She was going to have to see about that!

As she saw her sister, she looked up, smiled, and then grinned as she waved with her free hand.
"Hey, Charlotte~! Sorry~! I got distracted on the way here, so I do apologize if I'm a little late. Now then, let's go check up on Andrew." She released the Floridian's hand and pulled out the key to their dorm. However, as she went for the door, it felt like someone left it unlocked....

That couldn't be good.

She opened the door carefully and peered around the room. The first thing she saw was Iris.... And in a ball on the ground, Andrew was passed out with a bag of some sorts. Georgia gasped as she threw the door open and ran into the room before quickly kneeling by Andrew. She gently placed a hand on his forehead and frowned in worry at how feverish he was.
"Oh God... I- It's worse than I thought! Hey, Rutilio! Get in here and help move Andrew to his room! Charlotte, you go ahead and start tending to the bedside manner. I'll set up the stuff I'll need to try and cure him."

Georgia quickly stood and ran to the kitchen. She cleared the counter some before placing a medical bag and some sort of rather large metal case on the counter. She reached into the bag and pulled out a lab coat and some gloves before she slipped the jacket on. She quickly took her hair down from the pig tails and pulled it into a half-bun-half-ponytail to keep it out of the way before she washed her hands thoroughly and slipped the latex gloves on. She slipped a pair of goggles on as well before opening the box and began setting up her own little "lab" for her to work on some sort of medicine to help.
