16+5 = 21. Success!

Finally, there was some measure of success in what Bo Jun was doing. He had managed to get everything exactly how he thought it should look, which meant that he had succeeded in a way that was leaps and bounds ahead of what he had done previously. In fact, he was so happy with his achievement, that he knew that if he could do this again, he could call the skill mastered and he could move on to even more complicated training sessions. He wasn't exactly sure what he would do next, but he was fairly certain that he could manage to deal with whatever came at him now that he had done this much. Then again, there was always a chance of failure, so Bo Jun turned his attention to finishing the task at hand so that he would have the chance to move on.

4+5 = 9. Failure.

Well, so much for that brilliant plan. Somehow Bo Jun had managed to completely screw himself over and failed to do the same thing that he had done nine times previously. In fact, this time he only managed to make it worse, a side effect he chalked up to being overconfident. After all, when he got too confident, he always managed to mess up his techniques somehow. As such, he tried to treat the next time he performed the jutsu like it was nothing special, but also not like he already knew what he was doing. After all, failing to take note of the details had been what messed it up for him this time. Hopefully, Bo Jun would be able to complete this technique after one more repetition of it...

8+5 = 13. Success!

Finally, after all this time, Bo Jun had managed to succeed at the Henge no Jutsu. Not only that, but he felt like he would be able to do it on a regular basis, something he wasn't sure of previously. In fact, he was quite certain that if push came to shove, he would be able to do this without much effort again... and that was all he really needed to do. For now though, he knew there was no time for celebrating. He had a lot more work to do, and not a lot of time to do it. In fact, he wanted to make sure that he would catch up with the other students, who he assumed were a lot farther ahead than he was. He didn't really know if that was true of course; but he hoped that they wouldn't look down on him for being slow on the draw.

Now that the henge and bushin were taken care of, Bo Jun knew that he needed to take care of one last jutsu. That jutsu? The Kawarimi no Jutsu. In essence, it was meant as an escape technique; it was designed so that a ninja could easily switch places with something to avoid being killed. The catch? The technique itself was pretty complicated, at least when you compared it to the techniques that were already expected of you on the syllabus. Bo Jun looked it over again, and made sure he wasn't accidentally doing something he wasn't meant to do yet. In the mean time, he decided it would be better to try it and see what would happen instead of sitting around doing nothing. He could go do other things once he was done all the required stuff anyway.

17+5 = 22. Success!

In a puff of smoke, Bo Jun managed to switch places with the syllabus scroll. This seemed easy enough for him. He wasn't exactly sure if this was how it was supposed to happen, but he didn't really care. After all, it worked out just fine thus far. Now, he just needed to be able to do this on command, which was the hardest part of these techniques. Soon, Bo Jun would be able to move forward, or at least, that's what he was hoping for. He knew it wouldn't be that easy, and he knew it would be anything from quick. Instead, it would probably take a while, because while he was able to do it once, he knew he would have issues doing it repeatedly. That's how it always went for him it seemed.

2+5 = 7. Failure.

As it turned out, Bo Jun was wise to his own luck and his own abilities. He knew that he wasn't really able to do things again and again, and it was turning out to be his biggest drawback. Then again, he would make up for that drawback with his determination. He wouldn't give up, since his previous successes had proven to him that he was at least able to perform jutsus. Not to mention he had already performed this particular one once before. Now he just needed to get it down perfectly, and Bo Jun wasn't looking forward to having to do that. He knew it was going to be really difficult, unless he got really lucky. And he was never lucky.

Nat 20. Two Successes!

As it turned out, Bo Jun was luckier than he realized. Of course, he chalked it up to luck rather than skill because he knew he wasn't skilled. He probably just lucked out this once, but he didn't want to be lucky. If it came down to being lucky or skilled, he would rather be skilled. After all, his luck was notoriously terrible. For now though, he was just happy that he had managed to switch places with the syllabus again. Bo Jun thought for a bit about what he might be able to do to improve upon this technique, or make it easier to perform. After all, it wasn't exactly something that one wanted to be lax in when it could save his life. He would try again, and see if it worked.

Previous Nat 20.

For a second time in a row Bo Jun managed to switch positions with the syllabus scroll. He was quite surprised by this; he honestly felt that he would be unable to do it once in the time it had taken him to do it three times. Maybe he was better than he gave himself credit for; or maybe he was simply riding on the luck that he had had previously. Either way, a success was a success and Bo Jun wouldn't know if it was luck or skill until he finished this training session. If it was luck, he'd probably spend the rest of the time he had today failing. If it was skill, he'd probably manage to finish this before the day was out.

18+5 = 23. Success!

Bo Jun was almost halfway done with this assignment, and that meant he was almost halfway done with mastering the Kawarimi no Jutsu in a strictly academic sense. He didn't really think that he would ever consider himself a master of anything; being a master meant you had nothing more to learn. He had far too much to learn to ever be considered a master of anything. For now, he focused on trying to perform the jutsu again so that he could move on. If there was one thing that Bo Jun liked doing, it was finishing things so he could move on to something new. This particular technique was rather tough, even when he got it right. There was always the chance he could mess up, and he knew it.

Nat 20! Two successes!

Strangely, this was going over easier than Bo Jun expected. He had expected that this would be a long, hard, and rather bitter training session that would tire him out emotionally, physically, and mentally. Instead, he found himself performing the technique over and over again without much issue. Sure there had been the hiccup earlier, but aside from that it was completely smooth sailing. Of course, a clear sky at sea could mean that there was danger ahead, and it's possible that this was a similar situation. He wasn't really sure if the technique was alright in relation to how he was performing it, but he was certain that if he was doing it wrong it would either fail to work, or someone would call him on it. As long as it worked, he was going to keep going.

Previous Nat 20 Success.

For a sixth time today Bo Jun was able to switch places with the syllabus that he was using as a test object. He wasn't exactly known for doing well at things and he had messed up a great deal on the previous jutsus and exercises. He had a feeling that his luck could change at any time, and then he'd be unable to do this right like he had been. Secretly, he hoped that he was able to hold the momentum, and that he actually was somewhat skilled at this. He had never really been skilled at anything but being a sailor on a ship, and even then he was really only an attendant for all the others. Somehow though, he knew he was doing alright. Even if he messed up, he was still making progress.

17+5 = 22

Bo Jun was starting to feel invincible with all the success he was currently enjoying. Even so, he knew he should get overconfident. Still, he did enjoy being able to continually do well. It was something he wasn't used too, and it was a good feeling. He had only three more successful attempts between him and the completion of this assignment. What's more, is that it looked like that was all that was left for the academy. Could he really finish all that in one day? Then again, there were lots of other things to do and to work on before he could really be called a ninja. No doubt there were lots of things left to learn. For now, the Kawarimi was proving to be rather simple and easy, but he was starting to get slightly tired.

7+5 = 12. Failure.

The tiredness got the better of him. Now, he was unable to succeed with the Kawarimi again. Bo Jun chalked it down to how tired he was feeling; he was working rather hard today, perhaps harder than he'd ever worked before. For now he tried to take a few deep breaths and relax a tad; clearly he had been overexerting himself with all the training that had gone on today. Then again, he seemed to be the only one who was around right now. Perhaps he would be able to go out and see the city more later... but for now he needed to finish the Kawarimi. Bo Jun took a few more breaths, and after centering himself again, he tried to attempt the jutsu yet again. Perhaps he wasn't as bad as he thought.

Nat 1. Failure.

Or perhaps he was just as bad as he thought he was. He fell onto the ground, extremely tired and disheartened by his currently inability to move forward with this training session. Of course, Bo Jun knew that he would eventually move forward. But for now he just needed to sit back and get his strength back up. He sat on the floor, breathing heavily and trying to relax for what felt like hours. Of course it was really only a few minutes, but when Bo Jun was feeling down he had a tendency to exaggerate things and make himself feel worse. It was a terrible habit, but it also kept him somewhat humble. Then again, it also made him rather depressing. For now, he got back up and tried again, because there was nothing else to do but keep trying.
