Karis Harkness

"Everyone, this is your captain speaking...we are appearing to have some difficulties with bringing the boat to shore.
It..appears to be frozen, hampering our ability to bring you in."
Not listening to the rest of what he had to say, she decided to look for herself. Surly, in this tropical area, snow was the least bit of there issues.
But, looking out of her port-side window she could see huge chunks of ice along with a sheet connecting to the dock and continuing to outspread further.
The whole island should be in a say "
Tropical climate"..but this..this is not what she came for.
Getting up with her one bag, she opened her door and tried to flag the attention of one man running by..shoving her as she brushed passed, she was knocked against the wall. Causing her to drop her bag.
Sighing she picked her things up, and walked along the inside of the boat, eventually reaching the outside.
It was even more surreal out here..where cold bit into her skin.
Digging through her one duffel bag, she came out with a think black jacket..the only thing she brought from home, not bringing anything heavier because..hey.."Tropical island and all"
Staring closely, she watched the trees, the foliage and noticed that they where plants you would find in the tropics.
But..that did not explain why the snow?
These unnatural events are what made up her mind..she would find out the reason, and try to solve it.
Looking around, she saw a life boat just swinging idly over the ice and water..
Not being a girl of considerable importance, at least with her looks..she climbed up the metal railings, and jumped into the boat..settling her bag and things in place..
Already, the ropes that where connected to the mechanism where frozen..
"Figures" she muttered, leaning up to inspect how to defrost the gears so she could slowly be lowered down..
"Hey! Get away from there!" a crew man shouted.
"Crap" she exclaimed, finally being noticed. The man rushed over, and in a desperate attempt grabbed the boat, rocking it, trying to get it to come back in...a snap sounded, and her heart stopped...locking the man in a gaze as he realized the same things..the frozen mechanism snapped under the cold..seconds later she was sent with the boat plunging down..down..down.
Hitting the water hard enough to throw her to the middle of the boat, biting her lip in the impact..water sprayed her and her belongings as well.
Rubbing her head, she looked up...seeing how far she had fallen.
Hearing the man sound an alarm, that a passenger was thrown overboard.
"Yeah by you.." she murmured, as she found an oar..and pattled the best she could to the near by sheet of ice...
From there..she threw her bag with all she could muster and watched it slide across the ice.
Getting close, she took a leap and slipped on the ice as well..banging her elbow.
Sore, tired..and a little angry for the mans actions that could have put her life in danger, she walked to the island over ice that coated a good distant of the ocean leading to the docks.
Finally..she reached them, and made her way to the campus.
(( I was so..so..bored.)) lmao
