swarf zOMG Servers Offline for FixesIn order to avoid the outage we had this morning we're taking the zOMG servers offline while our computer wizards conjure server sprites to exorcise the demons of downtime. Their incantations will take 30-45 minutes and then the game will be back up. Finally.
I can't be the only one who's been waiting for Server sprites, eh? sweatdrop

I like pixies better... cry
The servers were going wonky... why again? I pretty much missed this "Big Crash" that wasn't that big.
I don't think they were fixing anything in-game either... but...

Quintafeira12 I like pixies better... cry The servers were going wonky... why again? I pretty much missed this "Big Crash" that wasn't that big. I don't think they were fixing anything in-game either... but... They all disappeared. We were down to one - which was about as stable as a house-of-cards - for a couple hours. It finally died, and we had no available Servers (the Server list was empty) for the rest of the night. They didn't give any details as to what the problem was, so I can't really say, but maybe it'll be a little more stable from this point on... sweatdrop
gataka You know, we could use the tech that detects specific words in posts to automate an answer to such repeat threads, a funny answer. Possibilities! :O Let's try something: "Marshall?" >.> I like this idea, personally. I've always thought (and had these sorts of discussions with my few Gaian friends) that NPCs ought to be a little more active; unfortunately, unless there's a writer behind the keyboard, they're not allowed to post. However, using the same 'tech' you're talking about, here (what Odanodan used, no?) we could easily have various NPCs 'lurking' in various forums, automatically. I'd love it... whee

Yeah, Odanadodonadanadanodadadadan. "So I saw Landshark earlier---" "NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM" xD I've thought about such before, however it involved using chatbot tech, not Odanotech. That just crossed my mind as a weaker alternative. I also mainly had the Animated in mind: we don't expect them to be conherent, and maybe we could fight them off somehow. We're supposed to be at war. Dream big °3° I guess an ignore option would be possible for those who don't enjoy.

Well, I still think the best option for normal Animated is as a Random Event (like the Magical Giftboxes) that 'drops' Orbs and (perhaps) loot. At least, most Animated - that Landshark bit is too good to pass up.
But you're right, it does sound completely feasible; and it's possible for all kinds of Forums outside this one, as well. Having Brennivin come in to 'rate' your avatar; having Ian and Louie stalking the Twilight forum; zOMG! has more unique NPCs than the mainsite, so we've got a few more options - but it could just as easily work everywhere...

No trixie? emo I'd stick with obvious stuff first like "Rings are soulbound because..." that only triggers if you use the following words: "How", "sell" and "ring"

They can explain that you would need to remove your soul to sell a soulbound item, but they can't give a proper explanation beyond that.
Of course, that's our job, eh? razz
