Alex had stayed quit through the lesson for she didnt really like unicorns but she wanted to get house points so Alex took a guess "isnt it like 4 feet 8 inches, or something like that?" Alex said, uncertain

 Amelia breathed a sigh of relief. Logic still worked, even with magical creatures. That was a great comfort. Having spoken to Kalle before, she felt a certain pressure to reach a higher expectation than normal. Believing she accomplished that goal, she could pay attention to the class without any worry. Hearing the older girl's answer, she accepted it as true, questioning, "Are they similar to horses in that respect too?" Mind you, she had no clue how big a horse was. Except something like 15-18 hands, but how long a hand was she had no idea. Hers in particular were small, just like the rest of her. The only horse she'd ever "ridden" (meaning she sat on top while she was walked around in a circle) could only have been classified as huge to her at eight. Now that she thought about it, she figured it depended on how high either creature raised it's head, unless it was measured from the shoulder area. None the less, she jotted down onto her hand thickets--like horses, for her notes. She'd use her entire arm if necessary. She hadn't had time to get paper once the Headmistress approved her joining this class, but she always kept a pen in her pocket. Even if she'd written them on paper, she'd be copying them anyway. It was her usual method, though back home instead of rewriting them, she'd type them up. How dearly she missed her old laptop.

Sparrow raised her hand wondering if it was the right answer and said, "Don't they grow to be 56 to 64 inches and 840 to 1200 lb?" Sparrow wasn't sure but decided to say it anyway.

 Kalle thought for a moment, calculating the answers. 'Excellent answer Sparrow! Five points to Gryffindor. Unicorns range in height from 56 to 64 inches. And if you are rather familiar with horses, you know horses are actually measured in hands, whitch are equal to 4 inches, and measured from the highest point of their withers to the ground. The withers,' Kalle continued, sliding her hand down Beinrochir's neck until she reached two lumps on either side of his spine at the base of his neck, 'Are here. So unicorns can range in height from 14 to 16 hands, and weigh in between 840 and 1200 pounds. However, Beinrochir measures 17 hands, and weighs in at 1100 pounds.' Kalle smiled, and gave Beinrochir a quick peck on the cheek. She was very grateful he had come for her to show to the class.

Amelia opened her mouth, asking a question again before raising her hand, "Is it because he's male? Or is it just the way he is?" Speaking of gender, she wondered if it were true that unicorns preferred girls to guys. The majestic creature seemed to not particularly want to be patted by a lot of strangers, being content to simply be in Kalle's company. She really wanted to touch a unicorn if she could. They live just outside of the castle. She doubted she'd have to go far into the forest to meet more. Then she'd just watch until they got used to her and came to touch them. Yes, it was a perfect plan.

Sparrow scribbled down some notes on the past few subjects having forgot to because she was caught up in listening. She caught up and then focused back on professor and the lesson.

'Actually Ammy, it is simply the way he is. He is an incredibly fit unicorn, and unusually tall as well. He is a prime example of the majesty and grace of unicorns. Would you like to pet him?' Kalle asked. She had hoped a few students would be willing to meet him; unfortunately this chance was exclusive to females only.

Her eyes widened at the offer, and she stepped forward automatically. "Would I? Very much indeed." She came closer to him, making sure to conceal her excitement with the calm energy Kalle provided. "Is there a particular way he'd prefer to be greeted?" She was nervous, but the prospect overwhelmed that.

"Can we?" she asked, trembling a bit in anticipation. She thought briefly of her My Little Pony collection she still kept at home from her childhood. Aaaargh, she was going to burst!

Kalle smiled and nodded at Ammy. 'Do you know how to properly approach a regular horse?' she asked, before turning to Eriena and adding, 'For now it will be just Ammy, for I do not want to crowd or startle Beinrochir, but eventually you should be allowed to pet him, if time allows.'

Her eyes widening, Amelia automatically nodded a few times. She'd been taught when she went to that summer camp. Horses were just like people, if it's the first time the two of you are meeting you don't come up from behind and slap them on the behind. In fact, she thought she remembered to come from the side, though she couldn't think of why. Moving to Kalle's side, for she trusted her to stop her if she screwed up, Amelia stayed focused on the magnificent creature. "Hey Beinrochir. I'm Ammy." The unicorn watched her as warily as she did, and both of them jumped when that crazy girl shrieked for no reason. Laughing under her breath at their similar response, she continued forward slowly. She pulled from Kalle the serenity that seemed to surround her and upon nearing, cooed gently as she gingerly laid her hand upon his shoulder. The sensation made her gasp, "You're so soft." she breathed, stroking back and forth slowly. She'd expected smooth more than soft, like a horse's, but the unicorn was probably the softest thing she'd ever touched. She glanced back at Kalle for confirmation that she was doing still okay. She knew she couldn't touch him long, as she wanted everyone to feel how soft he was. But she was going to wait until Kalle told her to back up.

Kalle ignored the shriek from Adaleide; she could deal with her later. Instead, she turned her attention toward the exchange beside her. She smiled as Ammy approached Beinrochir. She was doing wonderfully; she had approached just as she was supposed to. 'Excellent, Ammy,' she said. She could see her eyes widen at the feel of the unicorn beneath her hands. 'Soft, isn't he?'

Amelia nodded, her confident smile back into place. "He has the softest fur-anything I've ever felt." This was it. She knew what she was going to do with her life. She was going to study unicorns. As she kept contact with him, he kept sending her an emotion after emotion. But it wasn't overwhelming, just confusing like a language she didn't understand. Whether this was what all magical animals did or simply unicorns she didn't know, but she felt as if Beinrochir could help her. Or maybe she just wanted to be around the majestic beasts more. Who knew for sure? "Thank you," she murmured. It took a great deal of effort, but she gave a last pat to him, and stepped backwards, giving the next person room to reach him. Glancing back at Kalle she asked quietly at first, but lifted her voice so others could hear, "Do you know if they understand English?" She wrapped her arms around her, surprised at how much she wanted to reconnect with the unicorn. She definitely was going to seek Beinrochir out later on. It would probably be the only way she'd understand.
