Earendil nodded. "I agree. We have to talk to Kelirahc and find out more about things."
He looked around again. "Though I vote we wait for sunlight before we head out," he said sheepishly. "We're going to have to find our bearings again ..."

Looking out there Lin nodded in agreement, "Yes... sunlight would be better everything here is a bit strange without the light."
She wondered if they had passed anything familiar to her from her time here while they were running in the rain.

"I would suggest a fire," Earendil frowned, "but all the wood will be wet ... though we should eat so that when it starts getting light we can just go."
Rather than waiting and eating then, they could save a bit of time that way.

Lin stepped out fully before looking around a bit. When she had gotten herself grounded she pointed in one direction, "There are orange trees that way," she told him.
And it wasn't too far away from the village so they could come back here and use here as the starting point to go back.

Earendil nodded. "Then let's go," he said firmly. "If we have all our strength we can go more quickly. Kelirahc said it was a two-day journey from here to the beach, but maybe we can cut it down a bit."
They couldn't get lost, but he had to admit he was a little annoyed that he would have to find back the area he had been working in before he would be able to continue his mapping.

"Let's go then," Lin nodded leading the way, "The sooner we can get back, the sooner we can know about the weather pattern here. While I'm use to rain, it's not that often rain comes along that quickly or that heavily so I would like to know if this is normal."
And if there was anything worse than that.

Earendil followed quickly after Lin, eager to eat so that they could be on their way when they needed to be.
By the time they had eaten their fill and grabbed some oranges for the trip back, the sun was beginning to rise over the horizon. There had also been a few banana trees around the area as well, and Earendil made sure to pack some of them as well.
"Ready?" he asked as it began to grow lighter. "We should go as quickly as we can."

"Ready," Lin replied as she finished packing the last of the fruit she was going to take away.
She was eager to get back, yesterday had been too unpredictable and that generally wasn't a good thing for her. She would like to know if there was any sort of dangerous weather. Everywhere else seemed to have something like that.

And now to figure out which direction it was in. Earendil had a rough idea which way to go, but he wanted to be sure. After all, he hadn't charted this area, and if they were even a few degrees off they could miss the beach by miles. He knelt down and pulled something from one of his boots.
"I would assume that since you flew back last time," he commented, looking over at Lin, "that you wouldn't know the way back. My maps won't help us this time."

Lin shook her head, and looked up thoughtfully.
"I could try to get a higher vantage point and then point out the direction."
She was certain from her ride on the dragon she could go at least high enough to tell, seeing as she didn't find the air that much thinner anymore since gaining wings. It made her wonder sometimes exactly how much of her body rearranged itself since then.

"No need," Earendil murmured. "It might work once but when we're in the jungle without any clearings you'll lose your bearings when you come back through the foliage."
He held up his hand. "I'll use these. First time, you should feel honoured." He chuckled softly, and a moment later a blue light shot from his hand and into the trees to the west.
"That way."

Lin blinked looking at his hands, Lin knew that Earendil could make entrances and exits where he pleased (though she didn't know if that was anywhere or just in the castle). This ability though she had never seen.
"Okay," she murmured before asking, "You can know the direction you're going?"
She never asked what his gift exactly was, and recalled only hide and seek games with metal flowers that glowed.

Earendil held his hand out to Lin and opened it up, revealing three small stones. "With these. Everyone in the Aldrich family receives a set on their nineteenth birthday. Mine turned blue, which surprise no one at all."
He chuckled softly.

Lin looked at them, she shouldn't have been so surprised because she had seen them before. Had even heard about how family members received them, but she had only seen them previously in the hands of female members.
"Oh..... Ulani has a set, they're white... I think," Lin murmured, "What does blue mean?"

Earendil rolled the stones around with his thumb. "They're called the Seeking Stones," he replied as they started walking. "For those of a curious mind and who have a heart of a traveler."
He tilted his head slightly. "You've seen them before?"
