Kirai didn't answer his question. She was tired of having spent her entire life with the sole purpose of being modest, and people now assuming she was some kind of whore. "Things have been much better recently than they have been in a long time. What about yourself? How did things turn out between the crusniks and the Latverious clan?"

Michael lit up at the mention of the war. In most things, Michael was...well saintlike. He helped the poor and the homeless, he tended to the sick, most of his money went into the church and other charities. But when it came to vampires, he was almost evil. Grinning he pulled out his sword from the sheath and presented it to her. "I made a little tally during the fights. Every time I got a clean slice to the neck, I marked it on the side of my blade. I am rather proud of my total." The marks on the sword added up to about twenty or so, a testament to his battle prowess. "Granted I spent most of my time healing wounds, but when I got into the fray I was a man to be feared. Keep in mind, those marks are just for decapitation." He had a bit of a wild look in his eye as he spoke, sitting back down to try and calm himself. "In fact, would you like to hear the story of how I killed one of the Latverious Lieutenants? It really is an interesting tale."

Kirai elegantly forced a smile to be polite. She was in a good mood, and she didn't want it to spoil. "Please do."

Michael smirked as he began to tell the story. "Well, what happened was I was leading a skirmish on a group of about 30 Latverious soldiers. Things were going good, I was in the back of the group picking off the vampires that had tried to attack our rear. We'd been fighting for a while when one of my men said that he had seen the lieutenant join the fray. I couldn't resist such a good chance to kill a head vampire, so I ran to the very front of the group. I spotted him immediately and brought my sword down on his chest. However that didn't bring the ******** down. He started swing back at me, I made a few parries, he hit me a few times. but eventually I managed to get behind him and strike him right in the spine. It paralyzed him form the neck down and he fell like a sack of bricks. But! He wasn't dead yet. So I grabbed him by his terribly cut hair and dragged him to a wooden block that was nearby. I placed his head on the block and he started to try and thrash around. It was really quite pathetic. I brought my blade down with suck force that his head actually went flying into the battlefield. This scared the s**t out of what was left of the Latverious soldiers and they ran like a bunch of little girls. After they had all left I picked the man's head up and showed it to my men. 'This is what awaits those who stand in out path!' I shouted, raising the morale of every warrior. I kept his head, as a memento. Though after the war I misplaced it off a cliff." By now Michael was almost foaming at the mouth, reliving the bloodlust he felt in those days. it took him a moment, but he regained his composure and took his sword back from Kirai, sheathing it and sitting back down. "Well, tis the fate of the abominations that call themselves vampire. Wouldn't you say?"

Kirai blinked her eyes, but through out the whole thing, didn't so much as flinch. "Well.... I do believe in social Darwinism, if that is what you might be referring to."

"Yes...the superior race will overcome." Michael mused to himself, relaxing on the loveseat he sat in. "You didn'tanswer my question about Mr. Grey. How is he? I haven't seen him in ages." This was a lie, he saw him less than 24 hours ago. But he felt like prying for info, that was his job after all.

"Fine, I suppose." Kirai said, turning her head to look out the window. "I over heard quite some months ago, that my ex-husband killed one of your fellow crusniks. Despite our complete lacking of connections, you have my apologies concerning their death. On that same note, might I ask... you don't visit the graveyard all that often, do you?"

"I tend to the graves and I go when people need to be buried. So quite often." Michael said coldly, in reference to the dead he just had to lay to rest. "The latter more than the former."

Kirai nodded her head with understanding. It was natural, the concept of living with death usually did this to people. "I understand."

"I'm sure you do." Michael said flatly, tapping the hilt of his sword to a new theme. "Why do you ask?"

Kirai elegantly rose to her feet and folded her hands. "You'll please have to pardon me for not answering that bluntly. If you would excuse me, it has been nice talking to you Michael." She turned for the door but then stopped and faced him again. "I'll send Edward your regards, and I do hope to speak to Banshee sometime in the near future."

Michael nodded and waited for her to leave. Once she was gone, he fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. He didn't smoke often, but in situations like these, it felt almost necessary. He breathed the smoke in and out, trying to calm himself. One day Michael, one day... By now he was filled with a rage that almost consumed him. How could she come here. After she desecrated his church, caused the death of those close to him, became a priestess of death, and STILL had the NERVE to come here and have a pleasant conversation. Michael had found out a while after the killings, he was one of the first to see the dead. That moment, seeing all those men around him. It drove him to find justice for their murders. He rang up all his old contacts, seeing what had occurred on that night. One of his more reluctant contacts, a demon who spend a fair amount of time with the living, informed him there was a new priestess for the goddess nature. It stuck him as eventful, but wasn't enough to prosecute. Nor did it give him a name. After a lot of yelling and threats, his nephew, a necromancer, agreed to help him contact the dead. The ritual felt sickening to him, but he did what was necessary. One or two of the dead had seen the act. He got a description, but blond hair and blue eyes wasn't really helpful considering the population. Kirai fit the bill, sure. She dabbled in the occult and she met the physical description. But Michael had nothing to go on, so...he assumed. And Kirai proved it true, a stoke of good luck at best. But now, now he had her figured out. Now he could bring the hammer of justice upon her. And it would not be pretty. "One day, One day very soon..."

"Sure." Banshi nodded and replied. Banshee lifted her hand off of Mina's shoulder and motioned for her to follow her. "There's a supply closet near the kitchen. How about we start by setting you up some blankets and pillows where you want to sleep tonight? It can get really, really cold in here in the evenings." It was kind of funny that Banshee was telling her this, because Banshee was wearing a sleeveless shirt. When she turned her back to Mina, her long blonde wavy hair gently shifted just enough for large, grotesque scars which scratched from her back across her shoulders, like wings, to be exposed. "Since we'll be right by the kitchen, are you hungry?" She asked kindly, tilting her head back to look at Mina.

" Thank you but Thi-.. I would rather sleep, if i may." It was difficult, speaking as they did.. but she would learn it. Her gaze rose to find Banshee's, a shy smile breaking as her wide eyes traveled over the revealed markings. Pain.. This woman knew pain, and still treated others kindly..

A soft gasp of pain sounded behind Banshee, gentle hands falling on the scars.. touching carefully as her eyes filled with tears. these marks.. why would anyone..? Unable to keep the tears from her voice she asked in a quiet plea, truely unable to understand. " .. why.. did this happen?"

It took a second for her to realize what she meant. Banshee thought about how to answer this, then turning to Mina gave a soft, somewhat guilty sad look. She didn't want to over load this girl with information... but she would be honest. "I have a lot more than that... Needless to say, I've seen and I've been through a lot." She placed her hands on Mina's shoulders and now smiled, not wanting for her to be upset. "The scars, my 'crown of thorns', I don't mind. So please, don't cry. We all go through trials, and I have a feeling you're going through one right now. Right?" Banshee was really sweet when she said this. She didn't want to tell Mina everything, Banshee never had felt the need to go into the details of how and when she got each scar... although, she remembered most of them pretty vividly. Also, that would mean going into what species she was and how long she had been alive.

It quelled some of the sadness, hearing her words.. the girls slim shoulders slumping under the older womans hands as she gave a faint shake of her head. There were things she would not ask, could tell the woman wanted to keep silent of.. but.. " Papa told me marks like this.. they may heal, but the pain never goes away. You've only been kind.. Mr. Michael too, both of you seem so troubled.."
