The big man would give his head a quick shake as three more dragons spilled onto the sands, the lazy blue and seemingly indecisive brown obviously not in too much of a rush to make up their minds. The other, a dusty grey of a brown, quickly made his decision; it was clear he didn't share his brothers' taste for idling. He took a slow breath, shaking his head at the two remaining dragons as though he couldn't quite grasp why they were dawdling. Well, they'd pick who they'd like. He found himself still staring after Inaari, lips twitching a little--almost like he was fighting back a smile.
But that was ridiculous. He wasn't smiling.
~
"She's going to be a handful." J'riar agreed with a wince, though had to chuckle at the sight of Asceth comforting his little love. "Such a good lad, looking after everyone. Like dragon, like rider, eh?" He grinned at N'tos, then also fixed his gaze on Rin. "Well, that little gold wouldn't have picked her if she couldn't handle her... right?" Shards, he hoped so.
Ianquith just sighed quietly, clearly unhappy, but not going to say anything more. She would be strong, for herself and Hers. And she would not worry Asceth! Not unless something very bad happened... but oh, there were more cracking from her eggs, and the green let out a softer version of her encouraging croon.

That was so fast! I barely even saw him and he was Impressed. How did he know where his was that quickly? Hasufeth snorted and shook his snout, wiggling to adjust himself a little better in M'rik's lap. He was lucky, Mine. That's all, he go lucky? And he's very fast, Mine. He's not tired. "Ah..." M'rik watched the greyish little Brown with a smile, not completely missing the competition between it and the other little speedster. It was a much happier competition than between the Queen and the first Brown. Almost silly, racing the find theirs. That Blue had the right idea- take your time and look. You don't have to pick, Mine. Only one person is right. You just have to find where they are. Hasufeth nuzzled his weyrling's face as much as he could, awkward position they were in. But they can't have Mine, so they have to settle for someone else.

Terisa was relieved that more of the eggs were showing signs of life. Watching as the blue and two browns hatched in close succession, the girl smiled for the male candidates who had the best chance at impressing the three male hatchlings. It was a bit disappointing that there had been so few female hatchlings, or at least it seemed like it. It was a bit amusing, however, that the blue didn't seem all that excited on deciding who to impress to. Shifting her weight back to her right foot, Terisa waited to see how the impressions went and wondered what was still left from the clutch.

As if on que a egg on the sands started to rock, shimmer and shaking as the life form within tapped and scraped away at the prison and his home of the shell that would so rabidly become to confining. No wonder they wanted to get out, he would be to if he was stuck like that. Well thinking about it he wasn’t too far off anyway with the state of the candidates brackets. But he watched as a Blue tumbled out, giving a little mental cheer in celebration of its freedom. He would behind the gorgeous creatures all the way, unless they headed his way with claws out.
But no this Blue seemed quite content to sit an observe, he almost looked more kingly that the bronze, such patience was something that Ren liked instantly, plus it did not look like he was about to maul any of the candidates which could never be a bad thing. He was so intent watching the handsome confident blue that he jumped when the two larger eggs cracked and spilled two brown brothers to clamber to their feet under the watchful eyes of the candidates.
Well this was turning into quite the crowd. At least the browns seemed to have no qualms about going straight towards there bonded, searching them out from among the many faces with no signs of frantic panic or desperation, considering a rocky beginning it was all going rather well now and the first brown quickly found his own.
Ren Sighed, of course it wasn’t him. Even if it would have been Vesyes he could have been happy and counted this as a success. But no, hope still lingered but it was dimmer every time and once again he thought that he and Vesyes might be left to walk off the sands together. Without Any dragons but maybe Glee. He knew he would appreciate greatly her comfort after this. If she was even speaking to him.
However as much as he loved his little green terror he shock thoughts of her away to concentrate on the sands once again. There was still some hope.

Santhea smiled widely, and also tensely, as the two browns emerged from the broken shells. The lighter of the two impressed quickly - a good sign- but the small, calm blue was idling, as was the rich, dark brown. I'm glad he impressed.. Good luck to you both, rider and dragon! she sent her wishes with her thoughts.
"I wonder who the little blue is waiting for.." she murmured under her breath. Surely he is hungry, but he prefers to wait to be certain of his lifemate..Oh! she smiled wistfully in longing, almost a twisting in her stomach. She glanced again at the stands, again thinking of the blue she had met at the lake. Had H'dra's Dievath been like this? Probably not, Santhea thought all dragons were unique.
The little blue was lovely though, and so was the striking dark brown dragonet. Such beautiful creatures! She wondered what the small animals would be like as dragons - provided they impressed. Santhea shuddered at that thought - I'm not only selfish for myself, but the Weyr too, when I wish that not to happen..

"I'm not so sure, though." Zafir replied, still watching the dark brown. He was getting more accustomed to this talking without eye contact nonsense. "Just because they hatched together doesn't mean they'll be friends, does it? I mean, think about the first brown and the queen. Though, the blue and green from earlier will no doubt be hanging around eachother alot."
Zafir paused, as the dark brown's eyes grazed widely over the general direction in which the two boys stood. "But, maybe I'm wrong. Who knows..."

Jamusyn had finally started to relax when a green, then a blue and two brown hatches. The green seemed to be a calm little creature and one of the blues Impressed so fast that he barely had time to blink. Rubbing his hands on his pants legs, the Holder let out a long breath.
"It's a good thing this Hatching has started to calm down some. I was beginning to think that all Hatchings were violent and harsh. I do not envy those down there one bit!"
His cousin merely nodded and gave a grunt of agreement.

Jisken's demeanor became increasingly calm as each hatchling found their partners successfully, to the point where his interest was even piqued at the sight of the brother browns, both hatching at the same time. He wasn't about to approach either of them, that's for sure, but as one approached the boys, he didn't find himself flinching, either. All in all, he had come to the conclusion fairly quickly that dragonets, if left alone, would most times leave you alone as well.
It was just that brown at the beginning that felt differently, Jisken thought, looking down at the dried blood on his arm. That would leave a nasty scar, to be sure, but at least it didn't hurt all that much anymore. For all that, though, would he find a partner of his own on the Sands this time? That momentary brush with a dragon's claws made him much more wary than the boy who'd entered the Sands, and he began to wonder if all of this was worth it. After careful thinking, he supposed that only time would tell, and that there was no sense of wimping out now that he'd gotten himself into the mess.

Well, enough of that. The American Sport Horse gave an amused snort, giving the Quarter Horse blue one last glance before he too head for the boys. The blue had flopped himself down by this point, yawning for a third time as he stretched himself out in the warm sands. He had a great view from here! He wasn't concerned about anything at all, that much was clear.
His brown brother, however, slowly made his way to the boys. He didn't waste time once he got there, however, and in his brother's fashion, he raised himself on his hind legs and began to stare Goran in the eyes. And stare. And stare. And stare some more. Long enough, in fact, the crowd began to rumble when the boy said nothing. What was that dragon doing?
G'ranmine. Your Ormeteth thinks we should follow, do you not?The blue still watched. Oh. Wait. What was over there?

Silute was beginning to wonder if the heat of the Sands was finally getting to him. He got the strange feeling that he was being watched, and for the moment it distracted him from the hatching dragonets. He turned his head, dark eyes sweeping over the Stands outstretched behind him, and he swore... Oh, Faranth, this wouldn't be good. If he remained calm, would it spare his life? Because he was pretty sure that he had GOOD reason to believe he was being watched, and not with happy blue eyes either. Slowly, achingly so, he turned his head, hiding a little grimace. It was hard to tell from the distance, but he was sure he saw his older brother looming in the Sands like the Red Star loomed over Pern from time to time.
Shells, he was going to be brutally murdered in the near future. There was no mistaking that expression even from so far. Determined to shake off that fear, he moved his gaze back to the dragonets. Another one had Impressed already (while he was wallowing in certain self-pity for his to-be demise)! A few more dragonets had managed to hatch, and were sifting through the Candidates in their search for whom they'd be bonded to. Silute was hoping now more than ever that he'd Impress, because he was sure that'd be the only thing that kept E'si from throttling him (really, he didn't know what his brother's problem was, it just EXISTED).

Tideal cast a glance at Rumir but turned back to the eggs, whose number of hatchlings had now tripled. One pale, quaint looking brown was exceedingly straightforward and made his way straight to the one who would doubtlessly be his lifemate. That particular dragonet was charmingly sure of himself, definite in movement and action unlike his dawdling siblings. As the brown impressed Tideal had another moment of gut wrenching jealousy before he cast it aside and turned to see what the other brown and the indecisive green would do next. Find theirs, of course, but this was a hatching and similar to a book. You may know what happens in the end and beginning but its what comes in between that is truly the heart of the story. The ex-glassmith only hoped that this chapter may have a happy ending in store for him. Sighing slightly he looked back to watch the new rider's reaction to the dragon who had confronted them so boldly.
"Ah~ Another couple..." Tideal mumbled and leaned over to see them past Rumir. A very handsomely speckled brown with amazing eyes that were now wielded as staring devices they used against their's. He glanced back at the blue that had lain down in the sand, not a care in the world. While the creature was quite handsome, Tideal couldn't help but smile a bit at its carefree attitude. That one was bound to be a handful.

Santhea made a happy murmur as the lovely brown went slowly over to the boys. Though the two looked at each other for a very, very long time (much too long for Santhea, who got bored easily), it was obvious impression had occured. Santhea said "Yay!" quite audibly, then clamped her hand over her mouth, grinning sheepishly.
The sleepy blue was settling himself down in the sands. What? It almost looked like he was getting ready for a nap. Santhea almost laughed at the audacity the blue showed - the whole Weyr was waiting for impression, and the little blue was holding them in his hand.. talons? Santhea couldn't help but chuckle, though she was struck again by how long impression was taking! She shuffled closer to get a better look, knowing her severely tiny height would mask movements being seen from the stands.
The blue was smart. There was no doubt about that - getting a rest in on the warm sands while able to check out the candidates at leisure! She grinned a little, still feeling tense and excited.

Oh wow.. there had been some pretty little browns going on in those last two eggs!... And one of them had impressed to one BIIGGGGGG guy. Holycrap that guy was tall... and broad in the shoulders... and was everybody sure that guy should have been on the sands?
Just.. ... ...
BIG guy. But the brown was ever so charming, wasn't it? He had to say so himself -- VERY charming.. then again, she was just in more awe of the dragons at this point in time.
Maybe the allure would wear off once she'd gotten a night of sleep.

A green, a brown and... now another brown, it seemed: one that caught Canth's interest in particular. It wasn't the coloration that did it, funnily enough, nor the creature's demeanor... but who he made his way right toward and stared down without a wink of hesitation... or a wink of anything, actually.
There was no doubt in her mind: the boy who had just impressed was her former roommate, the surly, but not undeserving Goran.
It was one of the few impressions she'd felt compelled enough to clap for, and did, audibly, at her spot between the males and females, features still composed, but lips twitching with what could have been a (very faint) smile. He would make a fine rider, she figured, like so many of the other newly impressed weyrlings rejoicing in their bonds.
... The eggs were starting to dwindle in lesser numbers now as those weyrling ranks swelled, too, she had noticed. Less unimpressed and unhatched remained now than before, and for now, at least, it seemed there was only one dwindling blue on the sands, still searching, with great studiousness, for his person among the ranks.
Perhaps rather than attending the post-hatching feast, she'd go out and... get some fresh air, or something, outside the chaos.

Veyes wrapped his arms around himself knowing that by the direction the other brown was looking...someone else had found that ones heart. At the moment, he was starting to feel just a tiny bit sleepy...almost wishing he could join that blue for a long nap. It had been such a long day. He let out another yawn and stretched then glanced over at Ren to make sure that he was doing alright. "Seems that blue's nap is catching..."
