Well, i've done my small contribution to the WoG effort by sending a mostly complete list of western weapons to Alcyone.
I hope she likes them. ^_^

Thats a WHOLE lotta weapons... Actually it isn't that many, since a lot of the european weapons are categorically the same (Flail) they just have been given different names based on their appearance. (Ball and chain, Morningstar, Mace and Chain) When it all comes down to it, there isn't much there.

And that's kinda boring-sounding, no?
That's why Japanese and Chinese weapons are so much cooler.. Then again, a weapon is only cool if one uses it properly, right? 3nodding

*Stares*... *Stares some more*.... *Closes eyes and stares through eyelids* ... *Hyperventilates* Er... The differences between these weapons can be quite severe actually.... A mace and a morning star don't work at all like each other. Even then, a mace on a chain isn't the same because it doesn't have spikes. The minute differences can be huge in real life circumstances. If everything worked the same, there wouldn't be so many variations. There are a billion sorts of swords, and very few are used the same way. If you tried using a khopesh like a long sword, you'd be dead. A Gladius is similar to a short sword, but you can hack better with the Gladius, while a short sword is faster and better at piercing. There a ton of different pole arms, and none of them work the same. they all have different heads which serve different purposes. They really aren't the same at all!

I mean in classification. A Mace-and-chain, and a morning star are types of flails. Just as a claidhmore and flamberge are types of Great swords or Zweihanders

Okay, classification, yeah, they fall into broad categories that aren't to extensive.

Owle Isohos As for the hermetic mage....have you looked at PN's Geomancer class? If I remember right, he wanted Geomancers to be able to use spells from all the elements Meh? That sounds a little sketchy to me... Geomancer makes me think of earth mages for some reason. I don't know how he explained why they'd get access to all the elements, so I'll go look.

Anduril Meh? That sounds a little sketchy to me... Geomancer makes me think of earth mages for some reason. I don't know how he explained why they'd get access to all the elements, so I'll go look. I don't think that is "Geo" as in "Geology [Earth Element]" but rather Geo in reference to the planet Earth. The planet encompasses all the elements really. Light from the sun, darkness from the lack of sun, fire from the core, earth from the crust, water from the oceans, and air from the sky.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should make a list of Indian and Egyptian weapons to add to the Eastern list.
