He grinned his trademark wide, cocky grin. "Back in a flash." Then he winked, and the next second he was gone.

Steel Spider smiled and watched him leave. After a moment, she turned and headed inside. She walked through slowly, taking in everything that she could see. This was the first time she'd been in anything other than Murder World. Practically everything was new to her. She didn't want to stop and mess with anything though, not knowing how anything worked. Nor did she want to ask about them. It would probably sound ridiculous, since she appeared so human. She didn't want to try to explain why she didn't know what something was.

After a few moments, she finally came to the room Sapphire was lying in. She looked at her a moment, then continued into the room to sit down beside her. She felt...extremely akward now. It was just her and...the woman she was based off of.

Sapphire Spider lay unconcious in the back room with Steel Spider watching over her. Well...now Steel had her attention more on the small box with doors on it that sat in the corner of the room more than she had it on Sapphire. As much as she wanted to do a good job at helping Flash...she was getting bored. Very bored. The woman was completely unresponsive, but she appeared to be in no danger of shutting down completely. So there was nothing more Steel could do for the woman, and she'd spent far too much time being kooked up in a room in Murderworld to be fine with waiting. She didn't mind waiting on Flash, but she got bored so freaking easily. Especially if there was a world she had never seen before right outside the door. Heck, the room she had passed through coming in here was filled with never before seen treasures for her.

But she didn't want to just up and leave the human, so she had to content herself with poking at whatever was in the small room.
Tables, chairs...she knew what those all were. But these large boxes in the corner...she had no idea what they were. One box was very large, had square buttons on the side of it, a small slot with a tiny computer screen over it, and a picture that covered most of the box. The screen kept flashing 'Ice Cold Cola ... 1.25'. The buttons all had pictures on them as well. There was a small opening at the bottom of the buttons, and a larger opening on the larger picture. She was curious, but she didn't want to press anything...not knowing what it was or did. She was afraid of breaking something. So, she bent down and tried to look up through the larger opening to see if she could see what it was for. Unable to see anything, she let her eyes change tints of color again until she could see what exactly was inside the large box. It was little cans...much like the ones pictured on the buttons. Alright...she still wasn't exactly sure what it was for, but she knew what it had in it now.
Her eyes fell back onto the smaller boxes with the doors that sat in the corner, and she carefully made her way back over towards them. She looked at the smaller of the two first, then back at the larger one that had two doors. The small one had keys and a screen on the side of it, and the bigger one didn't. She stared at them, hesitated, then very carefully opened the door to the little one. Nothing inside but a glass plate...
Uninterested, she turned her attention towards the larger one and closed the door. She could use her x-ray program to see what was inside, but it was more interesting to look herself if she were able to. Carefully, she opened the doors and looked inside. This one had things inside of it, and the top of it was cold enough that it seemed to be frozen.
She eyed each item inside the box with interest, but refrained from touching anything. She didn't want to mess.

After closing the door, she glanced back around the room. Well...that was everything that was going to keep her interest in here. She stood where she was a moment and stared over at the unconscious woman. She actually wanted to be elsewhere right now. Seeing the woman she had been based off of...it was rather awkward. Even with her being out cold, it was so unnerving. As weird as it was, it made her feel inferior. Like she really, really was nothing more than a fake. She wasn't real.
.....What would it be like to be a human? Being a robot had a slew of advantages compared to being a human. Couldn't really be killed, easy to repair, advanced everything. But...humans could feel things. What would it be like to feel something other than food? Would she be just like this woman if she were human? Would that make things confusing then...like she'd get mistaken for her? She'd probably understand things so much more if she were human. Would it be better if she were a human? Would...would Flash like it better if she stayed a robot though? She couldn't get hurt as a robot. Not really anyway. Humans were so much more fragile than she was. But still...what would it be like?

She stared down at Sapphire a moment longer, then shook her head. Well, perhaps she should check one more time on her just to make sure she was fine still. If she was, then she'd explore elsewhere. Just for a little while. She'd be sure to keep her eyes on the room and come back in every so often to check on her. She wouldn't leave the building either. Yeah...that should be fine.
Steel moved back over to and stared down at the woman. Her eyes changed to a different tint of color as she stared down at the woman. Everything seemed fine. Organs were functioning properly. Air passageway was open. Skeletal structure was intact. There were still fractures in multiple areas, but nothing was completely broken anymore. Even her open wounds had closed more than they had been before. She was apparently healing herself with no problems.
Deciding that the woman would be fine where she was at for a while, Steel turned to venture out of the room and explore the larger room for a little while. There were quite a few pieces of machinery in the larger room when she passed through, she wanted to get a better look at them. There didn't seem to be too many people inside, so perhaps she wouldn't look very silly if she stared at things.
Once she was through the doors and inside the larger room, she smiled a bit as she looked around. There weren't many people in here at all. Two or three in the corner, and about five more scattered about the room. Good. She could pick a machine that was out of everyone else's view to get a good look at. She didn't want anyone staring at her because she was staring.

Unfortunately, she felt someone tug on her arm before she had a chance to walk towards anything. She glanced down to find a rather aged female woman looking up at her.

"Young lady? Do you work here?" the woman asked. The girl had just come out of the back room, so it wasn't a completely off assumption.

Steel blinked. "...um...."

"Would you mind helping my granddaughter and me with our laundry? Our washer's been broken for a week now and we just need a hand with all our laundry we've brought." the woman continued, pulling Steel along with her and not really bothering to wait for Steel's reaction.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 13, 2010 2:01 pm

Before Steel had a chance to protest, she found herself in front of a child and several large bundles of clothing. She stared at the clothing a moment, then over at the woman. "I-I I don't -"

"We just need some help loading everything into the washers. I'm afraid I've tired myself out bringing them all in here, and my granddaughter can't reach the washers." the woman said, moving to one of the bundles behind the girl and untying it. "I've already separated the bundles so all we need you to do is help put them in the washer." she continued.

Steel stared at the bags a moment, then over at the square machines beside her. The hatch on the tops of them were open, it was empty inside except for a long pole that was in the middle of it. There were slots and knobs on it...but they only needed help putting clothes inside of it, right? Not...not that hard right?
"....um....alright." she replied, trying not to sound nervous. She didn't want to break anything, or seem like she'd never done this before.

The woman handed her one of the bundles, then walked over to a nearby chair to sit down without another word. Steel paused there a moment, stared at the bundle in her hands, then down at the little girl that was still staring up at her. Very small for a human...she looked like she could just reach the top of the machine if she stretched her arms up, but that was it. She was a young child then, right? She'd be learning how to do this kind of stuff too then.
"So...do you know how to do any of this?" Steel asked, turning and setting the bundle on a washer beside an open one.

The girl didn't say anything, but shyly looked down at her foot as she twisted into the floor and nodded yes.

Steel paused a moment and stared down at her. "Um, alright, so what all do you know? Would you like to help me?"

The blonde haired girl looked up at her with a small smile and nodded yes again. Rather than go over towards Steel though, she moved over towards the other bundles and pulled them each towards an empty washer.

Steel started to feel nervous again and turned her attention back to the bundle. She took a quick glance around the room to see what everyone else was doing. Most of them were sitting and waiting on something, but there was one woman across from her that was standing in front of a similar box. She simply dumped a plastic container of clothes into the opening, then moved the clothes around so that they circled around the pole. Closed the hatch, placed some little metal things inside the slots, pressed a few things and the machine seemed to start.
Steel turned her attention back to her own task. Alright...she only needed to put the clothes inside, right? That was it. The woman would know how to the rest.
Carefully, she began dumping the bag of clothes inside the machine in front of her. When the bundle was empty, she moved the bits of clothes around so that they weren't hiding the pole. She looked at the washer a moment, the empty bag in her hands, then back at the washer. That was it? Alright...that was easy. Not a problem. She was getting herself worked up over nothing.
Steel visibly relaxed and turned her attention towards the washer beside her. The child had already opened the bag and left it sitting in front of the machine. Along with the next five machines beside that one. She stood beside the last washer with her hands behind her back, looking up at Steel again. Steel looked at her a moment, feeling a little awkward, then moved onto the next bundle. "Would you like to help, or would you rather sit down by...her." Steel said, motioning towards the grandmother with her head. She...didn't really know what to call the woman, not being familiar with anything outside Murderworld. She really needed to just find a computer or something and download a lot of basic information. She felt out of place now that she was out and about in the world and didn't know a lot of basic human things.

The girl looked back at her grandmother a moment, then back at Steel. By the time Steel had finished the second load, the girl finally decided that she wanted to help and timidly made her way over towards Steel.
Steel smiled at her. "So, do you want to put them in or help hand them up to me?"

The girl smiled up at her and shyly twisted her feet into the floor again. she moved over to the bag and picked out pieces of clothing one by one and handed them up to Steel.
Steel gave her another smile and started dropping the clothing inside and around the pole one by one. Now that she knew what she was doing, and that she wasn't going to break anything, she was actually starting to enjoy herself. She had no idea what anything was called...but she was having fun.
Once they were at the second to last bundle, the girl apparently warmed up to Steel a bit more and decided that she wanted to help more by trying to put the clothes in herself. Not doing very well at it since she couldn't see where she was tossing the clothes at. Steel smiled at her again. "Here, let's see if this helps."
With one hand, she picked up the bundle and sat it on top of the pile of the clothes in the washer next to it. With the other arm, she very, very gently wrapped it around the child's waist and picked her up. She didn't want to squeeze her like she had been trying to with the clown. She had to exert some force to do so with the man, but she still didn't know how much it took to hurt a child. She wanted to be careful with her. As a matter of fact, it might be better to let her sit on the corner of the machine and just make sure she didn't fall off.
The girl smiled happily at her and turned herself around so that she could easily put the clothes into the washer. Steel smiled a bit herself again.

A few minutes later, they finished every load. Steel gently picked the child up again and set her back down on the floor. The girl looked up at here with a smile again, then skipped over and picked up each sack off of the floor before making her way back over to her napping grandmother.
Steel sighed and smiled to herself, feeling like she had accomplished something. Oddly though...she found herself wondering what Flash was doing right now. She was so happy with herself that she couldn't wait to tell him about what she had done. Then...she'd probably have to ask just what exactly she had done because she wasn't sure. But still, she didn't break anything, and she made a child happy. She was feeling good about herself.
Oh...speaking about herself....she needed to go back and check in on the woman.
Still smiling, Steel started to walk back down the path between the washers to go back into the back room. The grandmother had gotten up and was standing in front of one of the washers with two bottles of something. She turned as Steel passed and caught her arm again. "Ah, young lady, would you mind finishing these for me? You loaded everything so quickly that it would be such a bit help if you could finish them for me. My son should be here to help by the time everything's ready to be dry, so this is the last help I'll ask of you."

Steel stopped and looked at her a moment. "Finish them?" she asked. What did she mean by that? Just press the buttons and start them or something?

"Yes." the woman replied as she opened one of the bottles and poured some blue liquid into the lid. "They should all go on the same setting except for the white clothes, so it won't be that hard. It will help so much if you could do this for me. And Maggie can help you out again. She's watched us enough to know how to help. And she seems to like you."

Steel glanced down a moment and found the blond haired girl standing beside the woman, staring up at her with a smile again. Steel blinked and turned her attention back to the woman, focusing intently on what she was doing and how she did it. "Um....alright."

The woman finished setting up the load she was in front of, then handed the two bottles over to Steel. Again, she went back to the chair and sat down to doze off. Steel watched her a moment, then glanced down at the bottles in her hand briefly before turning her attention back to the little girl.
"Um...alright. So, you ready to help me again?"

The girl smiled and held her arms up to be picked up again. It took Steel a moment to realize what the child was wanting, but caught onto the gesture easy enough. Setting the bottles down on the washer, she bent down and carefully picked the girl up again. "Alright, so, what's the first step?"

"Money." she replied, holding up a small leather coin purse in front of her.

Steel smiled at her again. She was...cute. "Alright, and what do we do with the money?" she asked, as if she were merely testing the child's knowledge. Really, she had watched carefully at what the woman had done, but she felt better if she let the girl lead. She'd seen how to do it far more times than Steel had probably.

"We put it in here. Like this." she replied, pulling a few coins out of the purse and placing it in the slot.

"Very good. Then what?"

"This goes on....this one." she said, setting what needed to be done for the clothes.

"And what will the white clothes go on?"

"That one." she replied as she pointed.

"Very good, Maggie, was it?" Good, this child seemed to know what she was doing.

Maggie shook her head and smiled back at Steel. "Uh-huh. What your name?"

"I'm Steel..." Steel started, but suddenly stopped. Wait, Steel Spider wasn't a normal name, was it. She couldn't use that. So...um...what name did she use then? Crap.

"Stel?" the girl said, like she couldn't quite pronounce Steel.

"Stel? Um, yeah. Stel." Steel replied. It...kind of sounded like a name. She could just say it was short for something. "Um, so, what's next?"

"We put this in." Maggie, replied, grabbing one of the large bottles and attempted to open it. When it wouldn't budge, she looked at it a moment, the handed it over to Steel.

Steel smiled and twisted it off easily for her. "And how much to we put in?"

"This much!" Maggie replied happily, filling the cap up to the top and dumping it in. "Then we do the same with...." she continued, turning to look at the two other bottles behind her. "This one." she said as she grabbed one and handed out for Steel to open again. And again, she filled it the to rim of the cap and dumped it inside.
A small bubble floated out of the bottle as she put the cap back on.

Maggie looked at the bubble wide eyed a moment, then grimaced and tried to back away from it.
Steel caught her before she could fall off. "Whoa, you ok? What's wrong?"

"Don't like bubbles..." she replied.

Steel didn't find anything strange about the girl's little phobia, so she didn't inquire about it further. She simply watched the bubble float until it popped in the air. She smiled and turned her attention back to the girl. "There. It's gone now, see? Would you rather I pour the liquid in, and I'll make sure no more bubbles slip out?" she asked.
Maggie smiled up at her and handed her the bottle.

The two continued down the line of washers without another problem. Maggie put the money in and set everything, and Steel poured the detergent in. Both bottles clear up to the rim.
Once they finished with the last one, Steel gently helped Maggie down off of the washers and back onto the floor. Again, she felt like she had accomplished something. "All done."

"All done!" Maggie repeated, happily skipping over to grab the bottle that had been left at the other washer. She skipped back with it and took one of the bottles from Steel. Then...she stopped a moment. Looked at the bottle still in Steel's hand, down at the one in her left hand, then at the one in her other hand.

"Is...something wrong?" she asked.

Maggie continued to look at the bottles. "Oopsie."

"Oopsie?" Steel repeated, her confidence starting to fade from her voice. What oopsie? What does she mean by...

Then...she seen it. The first washer they had used together was starting to get those bubble things slip out from under the hatch. A few at first, then a lot, then it practically flooded out of it. Same for the washer beside it. And the next one. And the next one. And the next, and the one after that, and the one after that, and finally the one they were standing beside began to get bubbly.
Panic suddenly set in and Steel scanned around for what to do. She had no idea what was going on or what she had done. All she knew was that none of the other machines were doing that. Just hers. Oh no. Ohnononononono. What do I do? What do I do?! What did I just break?!

Maggie then noticed the bubbles floating beside her and quickly turned around. The bottles slipped out of her hands and clattered against the floor when she finally seen the wall of bubbles that was both now blocking their path, and quickly making it's way closer to her.

Maggie started shrieking and wrapped herself behind Steel. Steel panicked even more and desperately looked around for what to do. People were turned around and staring at the washers and her, and the child wouldn't stop freaking out. Honestly, she felt like doing the same thing now.

traffic lights had gone nuts. All of them. Phone lines were being crossed or cut off in mid-conversation, lights would flicker or go out completely, appliances would start running by themselves if they were plugged in, computers were suddenly being spammed with cartoon videos, and the tv channels were all set to Comedy Central. All throughout the city.

Robin shook her head trying to stay awake. She just had to help them find Rosie and baby bat, younger batman. Apparently a lot had changed since she left. She couldn't breath, she could breath because of the mask but she was getting to the point of exausting herself just staying awake. She needed sleep, medical help probably, and most of all to know it was all worth it. Stephanie shook her head again. "Bat boy...that's how we find Goss..." She said again. She was sure they thought her mad and she wasn't even sure they could hear her thought the mask.

{Enter Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Lex Luthor from Lexcorp}

Martian Manhunter didn't hear the girl physically; her voice was too soft. He did, however, catch a little snippet of her thought. "Superman..." he began slowly. Bat Boy? Was she talking about a Robin?

"Just a second," Superman said flatly, his attention almost completely on his prisoner. He was furious with Lex, as per the usual, even angrier with the Joker, worried about Batman, and annoyed that he was worrying about Batman. Just count to ten, Clark. Thaaaat's it. "You should probably call your lawyer, Lex," he told Luthor evenly, then added to the Martian, "I'll be right back. Just going to drop him off in police custody."

J'onn hesitated, then inclined his head. "If that is to be the case, then I will meet you up on the satellite. This girl needs medical attention."

{Enter Batman (Terry) and Alex from Batcave}

The bike zoomed through the formerly clean, well cared-for streets, and Batman suppressed the urge to stop and stare. It looked like... well, Gotham. No, it looked worse; this kind of dank, dreary, half-destroyed atmosphere would have looked at least somewhat natural in Gotham. In the once bright Metropolis, it looked almost post-apocalyptic. "Where did you leave her?" he asked Alex, yelling to be heard over the noise of the bike.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:47 pm

"She was in the middle of the street." Alex replied, trying to remember any buildings that were nearby. With everything that had been going on, she really hadn't paid any attention to landmarks of any kind. "I think there was a video store nearby...a hair salon, and a Laundry Matt."

Terry didn't want to admit that he knew next to nothing about the current layout of Gotham, nevermind Metropolis, so he just kept driving down that street, hoping that she would see something that looked familiar. "Did they give you any way of contacting them?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:57 pm

"Flash..." Alex began, trying to slide her hand into her pockets to try and find the small device. "...gave me something to use in case they moved her." she said, finally finding it in the pocket of her jeans. For a moment she cursed herself for insisting on getting such tight jeans, unable to pull her hand back out of the pocket once she forced it in.
Very carefully, she moved her other hand onto the seat of the bike and tried to prop herself up enough to move her leg outward to slide her hand out, and not though the bike off balance. Once she managed, she held the communicator out for him to see by sliding her arm under his so he could simply look down at it.

Terry looked at it, relaxed fractionally, and pulled the bike over into an alley. Parking it behind some boxes, he put the kickstand down, grabbed the communicator, got off, and then offered Alex a hand off. With his free hand, he brought the device up close to his face. "Ba... Sapphire Spider ally to the Flash. Come in please." Releasing the button, he waited for a few seconds, but there was no answer. "Flash, come in!" he snapped. Still nothing. Maybe Wayne's description of the guy had been accurate, after all. Glancing at Alex, he shrugged a shoulder. It was somehow a very 'teenager' motion, and looked odd on him in the costume. "Plan B?" Pause. "Do you remember what the laundromat was called?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 28, 2010 8:11 pm

Alex frowned. "No..." she replied, then glanced out at the street again. After a second, she moved towards the opening of the alley and looked up and down the street. She'd ran all the way to Sapphire and back. Surely there was something she'd be able to recognize. There was a tall building. Had some odd logo on it. Looking around a moment longer, she spotted something far off that looked like it might have been it.
She turned back to Batman and pointed towards it. "That large building with the gold circle in the logo. It was a few blocks away from where Sapphire landed."

Terry thought about this for a second. "Alright. Start checking all public buildings within two block radius; they couldn't have moved her far with a neck injury." He would have to stay put and continue trying Flash's comm. At least he now had a link to the current JLA; that was a definite plus.
