Actually, it bugs me for some reason when people just arbitrarilly flip the "R"s in a name like that. It strikes me as being rather pretentious. I knew someone who pronounced the name "Galadriel" from Lord of the Rings like that, and it seemed like she was just trying to make the name sound cooler for her own purposes, not for any reason beyond that. It struck me as being similar to writing a fanfic and then making the cannon character a mary-sue simply because he's "cooler that way".

Phantom of the Forum Elanchana I only call Erik "The Phantom" to clarify my meaning. Sometimes, though, people who know Erik's name ask me who I'm talking about because of how I pronounce it... It sounds better with a flipped R.  um...a flipped R? What does that mean? It's a different way of pronouncing the letter R. Like rolling it, so it goes "Errrrrik".

..oh...
That's very strange. When thinking to myself, I sometimes pronounce Erik really weird, like my way would be spelled "Erique" or something.
I think it's formed from my random French accent which I use at times...it's very strange. Sometimes, I say Mme. Giry's lines near the end of the musical in my horrible accent. Luckily nobody hears me or they'd think I'm nuts....wait...too late for that.

I hate hate hate hate hate it, when people are dumb and try and quote a song and mess it up. I hate that. Urgh. Especially when they claim they are obsessed. They certainly are not if they can't quote major lines from songs and don't get them out right. Like they sing, "Turn your face away from the light of day turn your face from uh...watever light." I wan't to smack them and tell them all the words they missed. Well, unless they're half asleep then I suppose I could forgive them.
I too hate it when people say Erik who? -.- Get a clue please.
Lastly on the matter of people finding Erik hot. Um, Erik is not hot even with the mask on. Duh. Now, The Phantom aka: Gerik for those of you who like to call Gerard, is hot as the phantom if he keeps his mask on. Does that make sense? If they are reffering to the movie yes he is hot with the mask if they are reffering to anything other than no.

As per usual, I agree with Uta.
I mean, really. The way he acts on camera, it makes it look like he thinks the song "I'm too sexy" was for him or something.
Of course, that song is my friend's dad's theme song...*shudders* Scary...and he walks around without a shirt a lot! burning_eyes

I hate it when people compare the 2004 movie to the book "Phantom".
"How come there's no shah? What about Ayesha?"
C'mon people! It's based off the freaking musical. Not Kay. Not even close to Leroux.
It's also annoying when people say "Michael Crawford would've been a better Phantom." The movie's already been made. If you don't like Butler or Rossum, just don't watch it or wait until they redo the story to your liking.

Okay, now there's one I've never heard before, comparing the 2004 movie to the Kay book. I can see how that would be obnoxious, though.
The musical was lame enough as it was, being based off Leroux. I don't even want to think what it would be like if it were based off of Kay.
