The night air was cold and Crenu's lungs burned as they struggled to keep the blood in his body full of oxegen. His muscles ached and even he had to admit that he could not keep going like this. Crenu had not stopped peddling since he left Golden Rod, and he had been traveling down Rout 35 for a while now. He wasn't sure how long he had been biking for, but the beeping of his watch indicated that it was now 12:00 am, the start of a new day. "Wednsday, two more days till the party. Plenty of time, besides I can always show up a little late." Grinning, Crenu hopped off of his bike as a gate cam into view, putting it into his bag and walking slowly. The small building became clearer and clearer, and Crenu knew that his work had paid off as he was now at the first check point.

"Hey, park's closed. If you want to participate in the bug catching contest you will have to wait untill tomorrow." A rather burley looking guard came appeared from the corner of the building, it seemed as though he had been patroling the area when Crenu came by.He shone his flash light directly on Crenu's face.

"Bug catching... no I'm not here for that. What do you mean the park is closed? Isn't it always open to the public?" Crenu protested as he covered his eyes from the bright and unforgiving light. He would have oved nothign more than to bring out his pokemon and send this guard away, but he was probably packing some powerful pokemon of his own and Crenu's pokemon were suppose to get some rest. Their well being wasn't that big a deal to him, but Crenu would not allow his pokemon to become injured and useless to him so early in his adventure. Catchign new ones would be a bit of a hassle after working with the ones he had for this long.

"Well yeah, you can pass through it if you want, only way to get to Rout 36 really. But after dark there is no loitering in the park. Gotta kleep out troublemakers who'll want to vandalize the place." The guard lowered his light a bit and eased up, it was clear to him that Crenu was not up to anything, at least not right now.

"Makes sence." He said as he blinked, the bright white light still burned into his vision as he stepped forward. "I'm not here to loiter, but I am quite tired. Can I at least take a little break out here before I go through the park?" He didn't intend to leave even if the guard said no, this was evident as he sat down on the ground before the guard said anything. The guard simply nodded and dissapeared into the night, his light dancing around the bushes and trees around the park perimiter. Not wanting to get stepped on by any other night time travelers Crenu inched his way over to the side of the path and collapsed, closing his eyes and nodding off into half sleep. He wasn't planning on spending the night here, that guard probably wouldn't let him anyway. But he could at least take a little nap for an hour or two. Setting the alarm on his watch, Crenu stared up into to sky even though all he could see was the back of his eye lids. Within minuits he was sound asleep.

Kasiya felt her eye twitch, and it was very hard for her to not whirl around and smack Sheena right in the face. "He actually didn't mention that," she retorted finally, taking a step forward as the thug snatched Sherridan's purse. Right away though, Keegan and Helios stepped up and chased him down, quickly blocking the man's escape with an impressive Fire Spin. I've missed Helios too, she thought, watching the Vulpix now squaring off against an iron-clad Pokemon. Without even thinking Kasiya reached into her pocket and pulled out her PokeDex, quickly scanning the new Pokemon. "Lairon," she murmured, looking over its info and closing the device. "Come on guys, you can do this," she murmured, trying to ignore the annoying commentary coming from Sheena.

Perhaps it was because Mai was still a bit shocked to see such a carefree-looking person standing in the doorway that she let him go past her, and after a moment or so she held up a Pokeball and recalled the snoozing Fire-type. "My boss," she repeated, letting the doors shut behind her, and turning to look at the strange man, "is busy at the moment. I'm his second-in-command so whatever you want, you'll have to take it up with me first," she said, managing to regain her usual composure. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Leo duck back into a doorway, and she made a mental note to have him reprimanded later. "Start talking," she added, folding her arms for added effect.

Looking around the area Ampersand ignored her for a second walking around the first large part of the gym. "Pretty nice place you have here." He commented more to himself then to her. Finally getting bored of looking around he turned back to her a small smirk on his face. "Second in command eh? Well then nice to meet you Miss Second in Command, however my orders from my bosses specifically state that I am to talk to the boss and only the boss." He frowned at her slightly from under his hat pulling it down a bit more. "You must understand one second to another no?" He paused for a second before continuing on. "If it means anything, it probably doesn't, I am just here to talk and nothing else. I am bringing an offer actually. Thats pretty much all I can tell even a cute Missy like you." He grinned at the last part. Sticking both hands in his pockets he stood in a relaxed sort of way clearly feeling no danger despite where he was.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 21, 2008 7:03 pm

Mai was clearly not impressed by Ampersand's attitude, nor how relaxed he appeared to be. Mai found herself a bit on edge with the strange young man, mainly because she couldn't see any Pokeballs or anything of the sort on his person, nor could she tell if he was armed. She wasn't exactly afraid of him either, it was just something about him that made her feel uneasy. Another question was nagging at her brain though, and she glanced down at the Pokeball in her hand and then back up at the 'visitor'. "What did you do to my Typhlosion?" she asked finally, completely ignoring his previous statements. Her icy eyes were set in a cold glare as she placed her hands on her hips and walked towards him, now showing no fear or apprehension at all. "You're not going any further until I get a satisfactory explanation, understand?" She was now only a few inches from him, the no-nonsense tone and posture having returned in full force.

Leaning back slightly Ampersand tipped his hat back and grinned at her. " I didn't do anything to your Typhlosion. Even if I did do you really think I would tell you?" He grinned again before tipping his hat back all the way letting the string catch it around his throat. He refused to be intimidated though and stood his ground still with the lazy smirk on his face. If Mai looked really closely she would see that he was indeed armed but at the moment he had no intention of using it. Holding his hands out from his sides in a nonthreatening manor he offered lazily. "If it would make you feel better you can pat me down. Really I wasn't lying, I am just here to make an offer. Shoot you can even have one of your poekmon guard me if you want."

Giovanni's fingers quickly went over his keyboard, opening a file that was just sent to him. As his eyes scanned the page, the sneer on his face grew larger and larger. "Refreshing," he laughed, "knowing that this Team Galactic is locked up and out of MY way is a load off my shoulders." A mad man with hopes for a brand new world involving a legendary Pokemon? Seemed all too familiar to him, after the ordeal with Maxie and Archie two years ago in Hoenn. News of happenings in Sinnoh never reached Kanto - it felt to him a very closed region. Yet if he could somehow bring Team Rocket to Sinnoh...the chance to rule over three regions intrigued him. He closed his eyes and locked his fingers together. A million thoughts were going through his head at that moment. There was a low purr as his Persian bumped up against his leg from beneath the desk. He lowered a hand and began to caress the top of the Pokemon's head.

"Our attack on Slateport is getting closer, my pet..." he whispered, "Yet I know that those kids are going to be there. Nothing draws together a bunch of clueless teenagers like a party." He stood up, clasping his hands behind his back. Persian followed at his heels, the feline's tail swishing back and forth. "Mike, Kilik, Kasiya..." Giovanni stood in the window overlooking the arena of the Gym. The window worked as a two way mirror of sorts, he could look down but they could not see him until he lowered the screen that blended with the wall. He saw Mai speaking with a man below and was quick to note her Typhlosion falling to the ground. Giovanni's eyes widened for a split moment. "Interesting. The man doesn't even lift a finger and yet her Pokemon goes down." Giovanni turned on his heel and recalled his Persian, a very rare sight indeed. If anything happened to his precious cat...well, let's just say this man would not be leaving the Gym in one piece.

He headed down through the lab and snapped his fingers when he reached a door. The mechanical door rose (the same door that revealed his powerful clone project years ago) and Giovanni stood in the doorway. "Mai!" he called, "Now now. A guest such as this should not be treated with such a tone. Please sir..." the Leader glared at Mai from the corner of his eye, "what brings you to my Gym and what is your business with me?" he motioned for Ampersand and Mai to follow him to his office. A wicked smirk appeared on his lips, his teeth gleaming in the dim light. A smirk that just read: when life is joyous for Giovanni, life is ill for the rest of us.

When Ampersand heard the powerful Rocket bosses voice his playful friendly demeanor fell away and he appeared more serious. This was a time for business and not teasing of his hopefully soon to be business partners employees. Turning blue eyes to where Giovanni stood Ampersand eyed him for a moment before a small smile appeared on his face. "You must be the Boss around here." He said as he took a few steps forward before bowing slightly at the man. Upon straightening up he pulled his hat back on top of his head. "My name is Ampersand Cero and I come here with an offer from my bosses that would be in your best interests to hear out." He paused for a second glancing around suspiciously before following the gym leader. "My message is for your ears only, you can refuse at anytime and I will leave right away." He paused for a second before continuing. " I do not mean to cause trouble here. I have no interest in a battle seeing as I have no pokemon to battle you with. This is strictly a business meeting."

Stray embers seemed to scatter everywhere as the Flamethrower struck its target, but a telltale flash of green light was seen just as the flames died away. The Lairon had used Protect to block the Vulpix's attack. It didn't seem to bother Keegan or Helios though, as the redhead was quick to call for a Confuse Ray. Helios' eyes flashed with a purple aura for a split second, which was then reflected in the eyes of the Lairon. The would-be mugger called for another Take Down and the beast charged forward, albeit in a staggered pattern that carried him into a large boulder. His lack of clarity had dropped his strength as well as his able to think clearly, so a boulder that should have been easily crushed now served as a barrier, causing the Pokemon to stop dead in its tracks. Getting up and shaking its head, Lairon tromped back over to the general area of the battlefield, trying to concentrate on the little red fox.

"Now use Will-o-Wisp," Keegan called out, watching as his best friend took a few steps forward, tails quivering slightly as a ring of bluish flames danced around the already-confused steel type, then suddenly closed in on it. As the dancing flames died away, painful scorches were left in a peculiar pattern around the Pokemon's body, having inflicted a painful burn.

Sheena giggled and took another step closer, hands behind her back. She too listened to the PokeDex prattle on about Lairon, grinning at the sight of Keegan and the Vulpix battling together. "He's very brave," she went on, enjoying the chance to mess with the blonde girl. "And he's also very caring and nice. Kinda cute too," she added, giggling some more. "But I'm guessing you already knew that, right? It was a lot of fun traveling with him, even though our trip was kind of short," she sighed, and looked at the ground. "You're both really lucky to have each other," she said, her voice almost a whisper.

"Come on you guys, show that guy who's boss!" she shouted suddenly, having no indication whatsoever that she had even been sad.

Kasiya let out a low growl, clenching a fist and trying to control her anger (or jealously, rather). Deciding to find a better seat for the battle, Seto quickly wandered away, climbing up on top of a large boulder and lying down, intent on watching the fight unfold. When Sheena suddenly shouted, it made Kasiya jump, and she whirled around, grabbing the girl by the front of her shirt. "Now look you, that'll be enough!" she shouted, fully intent on telling the bubbly girl off. However, she suddenly started to feel a bit light-headed and dizzy, and she found herself staring stupidly at Sheena, who began to phase in and out. She blinked, trying to regain her focus.

Instead of the pink-haired girl, Kasiya found herself looking at a man wearing a hat, bright blue and expressive eyes peeking out from under the brim. He tipped his hat back and grinned at her. "Even if I did, do you really thing I would tell you?" he was still grinning before he tipped the hat back, letting it fall to his back. Short-cropped black hair adorned his head and he was indeed good-looking, and then another voice boomed through the air, making Kasiya jump.

"What is your business with me?" the voice boomed, and when Kasiya looked over, she blanched, realizing that Giovanni was no less than ten feet from her. The Rocket Boss beckoned for the strange man and her to follow him to his office, a place Kasiya already knew all too well. What was happening? What was this? Not really knowing why, Kasiya found her feet following after Giovanni, trying to get a good look at herself as she walked. She was wearing a long, dark overcoat, with dark, matching slacks and a purple tank top. She studied her hands, realizing fearfully that they weren't hers, and she reached up to touch her face, a bit shocked to find that it too wasn't familiar. Her hands brushed up against soft hair hanging down just past her shoulders, and she took a strand of it in her hand, staring at the whitish-blonde locks with amazement. She let out a startled little gasp and patted her waist, the sickening feeling of realization that her Pokemon weren't there overcoming her. Her panic caused her to miss most of the words exchanged between the young man and Giovanni, and her fear was rising a little more with every minute.

=-=-=-=-=

"Don't give me that crap," Mai started, not at all impressed by the dark-haired young man (regardless of just how good-looking he was). "I..." she trailed off, staggering a bit as her head started to swim. "I asked..." the words refused to come though, and as she tried to glare up at Ampersand, she was very confused to see that now, instead of the strange intruder she was face to face with a small girl with bubblegum-pink hair and bright eyes. She took a moment to take in the situation, realizing that her hand was holding onto the scruff of the girl's shirt. "...what? Who are you?" she practically yelled, shoving the girl away from her. She could tell in an instant that the voice she just used wasn't hers, and she clamped a gloved hand over her mouth (a bit shocked to find gloves on her hand). She pulled at a strand of her hair, annoyed to find it darker and shorter than her own (and not nearly as lovely, for that matter). Out of the corner of her eye, she could see a heated battle going on. The redhead controlling the Vulpix was familiar, however, but the other guy was not. "What the hell is going on?" she shouted again, taking several steps back. Her mind raced for an explanation, but she was too distressed to think clearly at the moment. Wanting answers now, Mai looked around, recognizing the Persian perched carefully atop a nearby rock. "You," she barked at the cat, "get in there and help! Now!"

A look of confusion overcame Seto's face but he nodded and jumped down, quickly running up towards the Vulpix and Lairon. The Persian studied his opponent for a moment before letting an electrical current build up in his body and blasting a Thunderbolt towards the iron-clad Pokemon.

"Ya fell silent!" Sammy laughed, "Got an Ekans in yer boots, cowboy?" He adjusted his hat, clicked his spurs, and tugged on his overalls. Upon closer inspection, one could notice that they weren't made of denim, but of tanned and dyed leather. Rapidash leather, to be exact. Seems like this guy was someone who enjoyed wearing Pokemon products. "Ross, lessgo with a Take Down!" The bull let loose a low rumble from its throat and charged at Flygon, the entire ground seeming to shake beneath his feet.

Kilik took a step back and quickly looked at Bahamut right as she took the attack to the middle. The boy bit his lip and lifted up her Pokeball. "Alright, Bahamut, return!" he ran his thumb over his nose and smirked. Though his Scizor was still hurt and definitely not up to par, there was still one of Lairon's battle partners that could fight. "Let's grab this bull by the horns, Weezing!" The Pokemon burst out of his ball before Kilik had even thrown it, still itching to have a go at Lairon. Weezing searched around, looking for the titanium beast, but he was nowhere to be found. A sad look appeared on his lips, but then his eyes met with Tauros. A shiver went up whatever spine Weezing may have had.

"Yer Weezin' is ternin' yella!" the man laughed once more, "Iffin' he had any boots, he'd be shakin' in 'em!" Tauros let out a vicious sigh.

He's right. Weezing's scared, but how can I... Kilik bit his lip then snapped his fingers. "Weezing, pretend that Tauros is Lairon!" At the mention of the beast's name, the Poison Gas Pokemon tensed up and narrowed his eyes. "Wee!" he snapped, glaring at Tauros. However, in his mind, that Tauros was in fact Lairon. The only difference is that Weezing decided to give the imaginary Lairon a very dumbfounded look. With a laugh, Weezing let loose a Flamethrower aimed right for Ross. The trainer punched the air. "Tan his hide, Weezing!"

"Business, eh?" Giovanni stroked his chin then snapped his fingers. A stairwell emerged that headed up to the two-way window above the arena. The fake wall slid open as well, along with the window, and a white light came down upon them. The Leader began walking up the steps, keeping his hands behind his back. "So tell me," he said stopping halfway up and turning to Ampersand, "What is so important that it's only for me?" He held a hand to Mai, "After all, she did say she was second in command. Besides," he leaned into Ampersand and smirked, "Whatever you tell me, I will just end up telling her."

He pulled back and started walking up the steps once more, thinking. This...Ampersand mentioned bosses. Was he part of an organization? And furthermore, Giovanni had never heard of Ampersand before but the way he was speaking made it sound as if he were a high official in whatever his business was. It may be all an elaborate trick, but as a man of business, Giovanni was willing to hear him out. With another snap of his fingers, two Grunts dashed into his office, wheeling in two chairs: one for Mai and one for Ampersand. The Boss, however, took his seat behind his large mahogany desk. "So talk."

"What's your problem?" Sheena cried out, arms flailing as she went stumbling backwards and then fell onto her butt. "Geez, you're crazy!" Managing to get to her feet, the girl turned her back on Kasiya and ran towards her sister, intent on seeing if she was all right. The two continued to cast glares back at the blonde girl, wondering what had suddenly set her off like that.

The poor burned and confused Lairon didn't know what hit it as a blast of powerful electricity suddenly coursed through it, and four pairs of eyes turned to stare at the Persian as it joined the 'fight'. "Hey!" the man shouted angrily, glaring at both Keegan and Kasiya, as well as the Persian. "Two on one ain't fair! Lairon, get it!" he yelled, pointing at the Vulpix. Roaring, it blindly charged forward, managing to actually strike Helios with a Tackle and knock the little fox to the ground.

What the hell is she doing?! Keegan thought angrily, throwing a frustrated glance over his shoulder at Kasiya. "Helios, hang in there! Heat Wave!" he shouted. Getting slowly to his feet (he had just been run over by what felt like a freight train, after all) the fire fox breathed in and then expelled a large blast of superheated air at the already weakened Lairon. It bellowed in agony before being recalled by its trainer.

"Take it," he shouted, hurling Sheridan's purse at Keegan's chest, "you kids are crazy!" he shouted before dashing away.

Growling to himself, Keegan nodded at the Vulpix and the two began to make their way back towards the girls. He handed Sheridan her purse, and looked at Sheena. "You two should get out of here before something else happens," he told them, the rare emotion of concern for others audible in his voice. "We'll meet back at my parents' house. Take care of them, Sheena," he said, placing a hand on the pink-haired girl's shoulder. Sheena nodded and tugged on Sheridan's sleeve, and the two began to make their way back towards Lavaridge. Keegan quickly recalled every remaining Pokemon except Helios, who was now looking like he was ready to square off with the Persian for interrupting his fight. The redhead strode right up to Kasiya and stopped a foot or so from her, looking rather annoyed at her. "Kasiya, what the hell was that?" he asked in a rather heated tone. "Since when do you jump in on someone else's fight?" For the first time in a while, he was genuinely angry with her. His right foot was tapping impatiently as he awaited a response.

((This is gonna be a little more fun than I initially anticipated. ^_^))
Kasiya? Mai thought, but then grinned. She understood now, or at least she thought she did. Somehow, the link that Dr Cress had established with his experiment had opened, allowing her to swap places with her sister again. This time, however, she didn't feel so disoriented and she was able to move as though she were her sister. She smiled cutely at the redhead as he approached her, looking mightily pissed. "I thought you needed help, uh," she paused for a moment, wracking her brain for his name, "Keegan." From the information she had on these two, they had repaired their relationship, although she didn't know if they were actually 'together' or just still 'friends'. She took a step forward and lightly touched his cheek, remembering once she had told Kasiya that she had good taste in men. "We work so well as a team," she went on, "so I figured that us double-teaming that bad man wouldn't be a problem."

She looked towards the Persian (she would admit that she had no clue what kind of stupid name her sister had given it) as it glared down at the little fox in front of it, more in a defensive manner. "Go ahead and try it, little foxy," she sneered at the Vulpix, aware that her sister was a decent trainer, at the very least. "You'll be sorry." Even Seto gave his trainer an odd look then, wondering if Kasiya had hit her head at one point and he didn't notice. He had no intentions of fighting with Helios; he admired the Vulpix's fighting spirit. Nodding to the Fire-type in a respectful manner, he walked back towards Kasiya, stopping to take a moment to watch her before pressing his nose to his own Pokeball and recalling himself before a fight was started.

((Heh. This is gonna be fun. >=D))
Keegan raised an eyebrow, though he felt a tingling chill when she touched him, like a minor bolt of electricity had just shot through him. "Well, I could have handled it, but, yeah. Just ask next time," he said, sighing. It was definite: she had spent too much time hanging around Mike, as it seemed his vigilante ways had rubbed off on her. Her comment towards Helios, however, caught him off guard. "No need to rub it in," he chuckled nervously, watching the Vulpix interact with Seto. The two seemed to come to an understanding and Helios trotted over to his side, sitting down and looking up at Kasiya with confusion. He didn't remember her acting like that before. "We should head back now," he said finally. "Some of our Pokemon got hurt in that last fight, and I think we should get out of here before anything else happens. He reached out and took a hold of Kasiya's hand, and smiled. "I have to admit it though, I do love fighting by your side," he said, giving her hand a little squeeze. He bent down and lifted Helios from the ground, grunting a little under the Vulpix's weight. "Wow, you sure have grown," he laughed. "What have they been feeding you?" Helios just glared at his trainer before finding his way to the boy's shoulder, having missed his favourite perch. As the two began to head back to Lavaridge, the fox turned to look back at Kasiya again, still curious about her behaviour.

Grinning again only this time in a not so friendly version Ampersand answered Giovanni's question with ease. "Of course I could tell her, but that would be defeating the purpose of keeping our organization secret no? The invitation is for your ears only, if you choose to accept then you may tell her everything that I tell you."

Pulling a seat for himself Ampersand sat down on it and waited for a second for the two grunts to vacate the office before turning his attention squarely back to Giovanni. "You know I am surprised in a way that you haven't heard of us. Maybe you have and just have not made the connection yet? Most people in the streets have at least heard rumors of a sort of Illuminati group." He grinned slightly, of course there were going to be rumors, what with people being so paranoid as it was. None of them were true, well a few were but they had just guessed on those and got lucky. Really Ampersand was quite amazed that the people didn't know about the whole thing. Such a big project, no matter how few people knew that they were working for something bigger and the fewer still that knew its purpose. They had done an outstanding job, his bosses and those before them and so on really knew what they were doing.
