Can a non-western country use the Ottoman tech if they westernize?

When I got my back up against the wall! Don't need no one to rescue me! 72 I can't quite remember how westernization works in EUIII. If it happens in stages, you could always just stop at the Ottoman tech, but then you'd probably get penalized for still not westernizing fully. If it happens in one go, then you can't. confused

When I got my back up against the wall! Don't need no one to rescue me! 76 Well you can always help them by taking a province right next to them. wink

78 That, I can easily do. 3nodding
I found a way to get rid of slavery. If I use the Pass Abolition of Slavery Act and have as many slave-producing provinces as possible, I can get something else. 3nodding

When I got my back up against the wall! Don't need no one to rescue me! 80 But slaves are so good for the economy. Reminds me of when I played as the US in Victoria II and decided to keep slavery after the Civil War. I don't think I abolished it until 1930, 5 years before the game ended, just to see how much of an effect it had. xp

82 Interesting. surprised In my case, I prefer to abolish slavery because I'll get trade goods like gold or ivory. biggrin

When I got my back up against the wall! Don't need no one to rescue me! 90 In EUIV they made it so gold increases inflation, so having too much can be a huge burden. At least in EUIII it's the best. biggrin

When I got my back up against the wall! Don't need no one to rescue me! 98 Well Steam Cloud decided not to let me use my save last night, so I couldn't play EUIV. They did just release a new expansion today and I bought it, so hopefully that fixes the problem.
