He turned into a store and came out a few minutes later carrying a sack full of apples. "well at least i have a snack" he took a bite of one of the red ones.

(should we time skip or no?) he kept walking and passed a flower shop. "this may be helpful later." he went in and came back out with a bouquet of roses. he started walking back towards the apartment
