~I'm confused as to why you think not being in a relationship with her would be turning your back to her. You got over her, moved on, and started a relationship with someone else. If she tried making a move on you, then I'm appalled. I'm even more disgusted if you made a move on her first.~ Sephiroth sipped his tea.

Sephiroth was gripping the mug in his hand tight enough to send a crack down the side. A piece chipped off and hit him in the forehead, so he relaxed his grip and forced himself to calm down.

~Yes, Reeve. That's what constitutes a 'rebound.' Maybe you didn't intend it, but you sure as hell made it that way. You used her to fill that void, and then you tossed her away when Fen pulled a Christ.~ Sephiroth's voice was venomous.

Iri is flying over the trees, swiftly approaching the dojo. Fatigue shows in the slower than usual beat of her wings. Violet eyes are dull with the need for sleep. And she isn't looking too pretty after all that fighting, flying, and searching for runaway townspeople. In short, she really needs a long bath and some extensive shut-eye.
If Psyche's still snoozing in my bed, I'll drag her out by her tails.
A few moments later and Iri soars above the dojo's front plaza. She circles in the air a bit before making a slow, spiraling descent to the grass below.

~Don't give me that 'fair' crap! You've lived long enough to know that 'fairness' doesn't exist! If you weren't past Fen, then you never should have gotten Irianna's hopes up. What did you hope to offer her, some half-assed attempt? Some, 'we'll work it out as it comes' approach? You're an adult, Reeve, so you should start acting like one. If you wanted to be happy with her, what was stopping you?~

~Guilt, goddamnit! G-U-I-L-T. I couldn't take Fen looking at me the way she does, or leaving this place just because I was happy with Iri. It felt like I was doing Fen wrong because she had no control over what happened.~

If anyone's around, Iri doesn't notice. She walks up to the dojo door and into the main room. Every footstep looks and feels heavy and kind of forced. She makes her way to her room and opens the door. Psyche, of course, is still snoozing. One wing twitches in agitation. Then she sighs in resignation.
Forget it. A bath can wait a little while longer. And I've slept on worse things than a floor.
Iri walks over to her bed, sits down on the floor, and leans against the mattress and its frame. She squirms a bit to make herself comfortable. Then she brings her wings forward to wrap around her shoulders. Her eyes close and Iri starts to drift to sleep.
So much for all that thinking she had planned to do.

~If you're going to use that excuse, then apply it to the rest of life. No one has control over what happens, all we can do is hope that we somehow sway the tide of life in our favor. You made a commitment to someone, and now you're falling through on that promise. You couldn't control what happened to Fenris, either, but you could control what you did afterwards. And you chose Irianna.~

Another laugh. ~I thought that was obvious. I'm an opinionated person, especially on this subject, Reeve. Love is not something you just.. give out, toss around, trade to other people.~
