[Kyla: Atlantis: Outside throne room]

(( had to roll for this one got 1 & 8 on 2 x 20 sided Die : Then a rolled a d6 for that arrow and got a 2. Maaaan this is going to suck.))

She tried God help her she tried. She held on as long as possible but she was never going to be a match for them, not like this. And so despite all her efforts Kyla was reluctantly removed from Kyle’s side with a powerful kick that shattered the wall and shoved her forward on her bad shoulder, pushing the arrows even further through her body. But not before another arrow came to join them lodged in her back. She felt it sink in just before the kick landed and felt a cool sharpness somewhere inside her chest starting from where it entered behind.

She face planted and skid across the floor, feeling the flesh scrape off one side of her cheek and neck. Carbuncle was also not so lucky, and the wind force shoved the tiny creature off Kyle’s front.

“No! No no no!” the little creature tumbled but quickly made to run back to him as Kyla struggled to get back up.

“ Kyle!! Stay away from him you monster!!” That scream didn't sound right. It was gurgling, choking, wheezing. Now the pain was coming, yet even then Kyla activated another attempt at retaliation even before she tried to get up. The flock of birn strikes were back and buzzing, she tried to order them to focus their attack on Nick but whether or not that made a difference was yet to be seen.

Kyla shoved herself up with her good arm and scrambled to get back to Kyle’s side. She felt a coldness coming inside her.
Carbuncle sense something was wrong and began to skid to a stop looking back at her partner who's clothing blossomed in shades of red.

' I've got to protect him- he came all the way down here alone- I can't just let him down. I can't let him down! Oh God this can't be happening. Please! There's gotta be a way to stop this! It can't happen like this!'

Funny- this wasn't supposed to happen in this sort of adventure. Where was that moment, when all hope is lost, that's the time when somehow the good guys get a chance to pull things through? She was waiting... any time now.... any time now would be awesome.
Where was that break Sora, Riku, Kairi, all those guys always seemed to get? When they split their blood, risked their lives, something happened to reward their efforts, their bravery-

It just wasn't happening.
In the back of her mind she thought she could hear someone but a strange ringing began to fill her ears... There was no one looking out for them this time, and she didn't recall making a save before coming here.

'Awww crap..'

[Noelle ~ Atlantis ~ Outside Throne Room]

They were getting dangerously close now, meaning Noelle had to worry about Bobbi's safe removal from the sled. She didn't care much about herself, she could manage it, but Bobbi--probably scared out of her mind by now--was going to need help. If only she'd thought of that sooner. Bobbi was an archer, so she would need distance. Perfect, time to get her off now.

"Hang tight, Bobbi, you won't die I promise." The blonde shouted to her comrade just as a flurry of vines sprung from the ground around the sled and snatched her. They would have held her in place for a few seconds and released her to safety on the ground.

Now for herself. Noelle zeroed in on a target, the Black Waltz, and took aim. Within the few seconds she had to successfully carry out the attack the Agromancer jumped backward off the sled, using earth and her spear to dig in and halt her forward momentum without tumbling. She stopped not too far from Kyla's stone barriers, ramping the sled slightly toward the Black Waltz. Noelle didn't have the time to make sure it made contact, though. Her quick survey as their sled neared showed that Kyle and Kyla were nowhere to be seen, likely behind the stone barriers. Without hesitation she tore them down, pulling them back away from the people behind them. Panic turned her blood cold as she saw the two of them down and bleeding. With a growl, the blonde took aim with her spear, hurling it at Nick's clone as he sped for Kyle. Just as soon as the weapon left her fingertips, Noelle was throwing a protective earthen barrier over both Kyle and Kyla (not knowing if the barrier would make it over Kyle in time) and stomping at the ground, launching a Kick Spike at Nick.

"Kyla, stay put!" Noelle ordered to her over the charms, "I'm getting you guys out of there."

[Matthew :-: Atlantis :-: Outside Throne Room]

Matt was having a hard time processing everything that was going on, what with the formation of a giant wall, passing by Joe, giant stone dragon barrelling towards Joe, arrows being fired at Joe- okay, he wasn't cool with those last two. He assumed he wasn't being targetted at all because of his transparency making it hard to see him from a distance. His "battle instincts" started to take hold, stitching his frayed nerves back together.

He continued flying forwards unhindered, but considered his new target to be the archer. Joe had simply drilled through the dragon and Matt wasn't paying any heed to it anyways; not like it could slow him down at the moment. Once he was a few meters away from his target and blocked by the brawler, he disengaged his Phase Shift and blew out a Flamethrower; the fire cloaked around him at his speed, turning him into a living fireball that left sparks in his wake. Knowing Joe's reflexes, he was likely to dodge before impact. He prayed so at least.

[ Kyle ; Ajora ; Black Waltz : Atlantis : City Limits ]

There was a lot of commotion, and Kyle was slowly slipping back into awareness as it went on. For one, Carbuncle had slowly been trying to heal him--to his agonized displeasure, all the summon had been able to accomplish was the closing of the wounds and the enclosure of his bones under the skin; they were not set, and they were certainly not healing. The creature's attention was diverted by the assault of Chaos' host once again--who was, it seemed, successful in his ploy.

There were a few moments of peace after the strange, viscous darkness made contact with his leg. It was cold, yes--very cold--but didn't seem to do... anything. He felt both Kyla and Carbuncle return to his side, quickly followed by the three of them suddenly being encased in an earthen dome. It was quiet and dark--pitch black--and the only thing he could hear was the sound of their breathing, his being particularly shaky.

Then the Darkness on his leg began to emanate a pale, indigo light as it spread into a thin adhesive; Kyle felt his heart stutter as a sense of dread overwhelmed him.

The two pale violet specks near Kyla seemed to glimmer brighter for a second, but otherwise remained utterly passive.

---

Shortly after the trio was encased in rock, an eerie chill filled the air, followed by an ethereal whistling--like a ghostly wind howling around the area, heard but not felt. All the black pools of Darkness throughout the city and down the path the heroes had ascended started spiraling chaotically into the air, like black twisters born from the ground. They stayed the same, thin diameter as they rose, easily eight to ten feet into the air. The viscous substance slowly dissolved in the spirals, making them appear as violently-twisting black pillars. There were easily over a dozen of them throughout the area; they seemed harmless, though they burned like acid to the touch.

The seal was barely cracked now. Ajora felt confident enough in its standing to take a hand away and turn around, looking at the scene before him. Just in time to see the Black Waltz get a large slab of rock thrown into its form, crushing him against the door momentarily. The Replica stifled a laugh as the Heartless snarled, stepping forward from the stony rubble and glaring toward the offender. The two glanced at one another before Ajora shrugged, and the Black Waltz began to summon pale blue, mist-like energy into its palms.

[Artemis ~ Atlantis ~ Outside Throne Room]

As soon as Artemis heard Joe move she reacted, using a cushion of wind to deflect his bo staff toward . . . a flaming opponent? No time to contemplate. Artemis weaved in the direction of Joe's kick, bending to the side as it chased her and narrowly missing his toes. As she bent she shot a gust of wind at his standing leg to topple him. Without any time to spare, the archer tucked and somersaulted away from Matt's incoming attack. She wasn't struck, but his radius of fire was great enough to burn down her back. With a growl she sprang back up, summoning another arrow and stringing it.

[Kyla: Atlantis: Outside throne room]

Cue: Fight Inside
[ editing cause stupid internet deleted my window!))

Ironically, when faced with her phobias Kyla was able to face them if she wasn't alone. The presence of another person dashed away the intentions of her overactive imagination.
It didn't require much; just a word, a presence, a sense of warmth-
-yet, somehow this time it was different this time.

Was it because she could feel her body finally beginning to slip out of the adrenaline rush and register just how hurt it was, like the fallen dragoon beside her?
Was because they were no where out of danger and things were only going to get worse?
Was it because of the guilt?

Like a physical manifestation of that feeling festering in her heart, she was locked in a stone tomb in the dark. Locked in with the silent reminder. Yet despite the fact that Kyle and her summon were present, she felt like old anxieties were slowly creeping into her like the coldness in her veins.

There in the dark with them was something else that looked at the three like an unseen horror at the dark end of a cave. Kyla skittishly inched away from it and felt Kyle's prone form in the darkness beside her. Deftly feeling for his back, Kyla tried to gently lift and move him till his head was pillowed on her lap and tried looking into his face in the gloom, doing all she could to not even acknowledge the eyes that she felt on her injured back.

But it wasn't working.
' Just don't' look at it...' ' Just don't look at it....'

"Kyle?" " Kyla I should keep healing your wounds you're both in bad shape-"
Suddenly his face was illuminated by the dim glow of Carbuncles jewel. Now she could see just how effectively Tyue's tending to him had been... not very good.
That wouldn't do. Any moment that shield would be removed and it was back into the fire again.

"Wait. Help me with my book." "What are you planning?"
User Image
Kyla didn't answer but dared a look back at the eyes in the darkness with them- then back to Kyle's dazed and distant expression. He was in so much pain. Up till now she failed in protecting him. She was so...so... so very useless.

'Stop! Stop thinking like that! There IS something you can do! Don't give up!'

" That's the spirit!"

"I wont let this...this darkness have him. I can't do much else but.. I can do this. I have to at least try."
There was no guaranteeing this would help.

She flipped to a fresh page and with carbuncle's paw holding it open Kyla struggled with her bad hand to contour the lines necessary. Guiding the image of Kyle's body. Years of practice, doing these warm ups in class- it only took seconds. Seconds Noelle had bought her. Tracing the contours of his body and then her own. She didn't need a mirror to know what she looked like.

"Kyla! No- don't!"

"- You saw what he did- my magic doesn't do anything on the seal. But Kyle.. He can break the door like the others. It's either we both lie here injured- or one can come out healed and ready to fight for the heart. It's not going to be me."

A bit more- and she was done. In the light of the summons glow she traced the spell and looked one last time into the darkness on the edge of the stone chamber.

"Kyla... " " I'm counting on you-... this wont kill me. But I wont be able to draw anymore till I see a healer."
Kyla then prepared to activate Inked Exchange with the intent on taking Kyles injuries and whatever ailments she suffered into herself.
As she waited for the spell to charge she looked down into Kyle's face again thinking. "I still remember how you used to be. The day we first met and you said good morning. I can't see that boy in your face anymore. Is he's still there somewhere?...I miss him."

[Noelle ~ Atlantis ~ Outside Throne Room]

Noelle frowned when she received no reply--that didn't bode well. Kyla was still moving when she put up the shield, did her health deteriorate that quickly? Regardless, the agromancer had to get the two of them away from danger. She moved quickly, sinking the dome and moving it under ground back toward Bobbi where she could at least watch over them. As she moved them she tried to pay attention to the Black Waltz and what it was doing. It obviously wasn't happy with her.

[Dawn : Black Pearl : Deck]

Dawn let out a sigh as the chains were no longer around her and went to her knees after the replica was thrown overboard. Though the girl was quickly back on her feet.

"Guys the battle isn't over yet," Dawn said from under the ice dome, "We gotta still help Jack and the others."

Now free of anything else to keep her from dancing, Dawn started to put her bravery back on the field to help Will, Jack and the other pirates.

[[ ??? : Atlantis : Inside Kyla/Inside the Dome/Outside the Throne Room]]

[[Cue: Emotional Skyscraper - Cosmic Mind by Tutti Sound]]

The darkness inside Kyla watched everything. Desperately sitting on the edge of her mind, the darkness grew tense like a coiled snake bracing for a strike at any moment. Nick moved in, he itched to spring into action, take control and move the girl from his path but he could see Joe in the corner of her vision. The kick the least of the figure's worries, his attention darted back and forth, monitoring all her senses like mental monitors. His attention distracted by her immediate jarred state, neither he nor she could have seen the arrow coming.

There was little he could do. The archer was distracted now, but the others still weren't there. If I act now, they'll just betray Kyla and break our pact... why was Kyle here so soon? How is he even alive? How could they let him charge in so soon? Worthless! Incapable! Idiots!

Darkness splattered on Kyle's legs, the figure inside Kyla focusing on it as her eyes flickered between bright yellow snake eyes before returning to their regular shade. Raising its attention to the slab of rock flying close overhead, and listening to a loud crash impacting behind them somewhere the figure mentally growled with frustration, So, the rest of the reinforcements finally arrived.

The earth pulled up around Kyle and Kyla forming a protective dome as the darkness in the area seemed to burst to life, far more than before. The presence shifted more this time, the pain around the girl's wound went numb... amidst the pitch black of the light-less dome, the dark tendrils coiling around beneath the skin around the arrow remained invisible.

' I've got to protect him- he came all the way down here alone- I can't just let him down. I can't let him down! Oh God this can't be happening. Please! There's gotta be a way to stop this! It can't happen like this!'

As blood ran down the girl's back, it acted strangely. As the red spread out, it stopped, then reversed direction. Collecting into a small dot on her back it drew a line down her back and onto the floor.

"Wait. Help me with my book."

Scarlet shown off the floor as the blood puddled in place and began crawling across the floor, webbing out around Kyla and Kyle.

"I wont let this...this darkness have him. I can't do much else but.. I can do this. I have to at least try."

The blood drew on the floor, thin lines reaching every corner of the small dome before redirecting its flow and drawing more of the spiral-esk shape.

"- You saw what he did- my magic doesn't do anything on the seal. But Kyle.. He can break the door like the others. It's either we both lie here injured- or one can come out healed and ready to fight for the heart. It's not going to be me."

As Kyle rested on Kyla's lap, darkness in darkness moved without warning, spreading from the girl and griping onto the boy and digging in. The girl would feel tired, rightfully so as she lost blood... a small price to pay...

"I still remember how you used to be. The day we first met and you said good morning. I can't see that boy in your face anymore. Is he's still there somewhere?...I miss him."

At last the blood stopped flowing across the floor and flashed to life, not emitting light, but still visible in vibrant color. A red rose shone around them as the voice echoed in her head, "I made a deal with him... a deal I intend to keep. I won't let either of you die here... let's do this together."

[ Kyle ; Ajora ; Black Waltz : Atlantis : Outside the Throne ]

Kyla...?

Her voice was there, but he could barely respond. They were talking above him, holding him--but all he could focus on was the intense chill that had overcome his body and heart.

Then, with an odd flash of crimson, the Ink Exchange began to take effect. Before he could reject it, before he could turn her away, he could feel his limbs being repaired. Then, to his shock, two hands reached up through the rose from the shadows and gripped at his legs. It all happened so fast--

Everything was happening too fast.

---

The howls in the wind increased in volume without warning--and at that moment, the black twisters bent and frayed. Twisting through the air like oily tendrils, the vast amounts of manifest negativity soared toward the battlefield, passing anything in their way as they converged on a single spot under the earth--where Kyle and Kyla were located...

... which was right in the midst of the fight between Joe, Matthew, and Artemis.

---

"Kyla, wait, what's--"

Before he could finish the sentiment, the ground above them ruptured as the tendrils of Darkness rushed into Kyle's now-healed form. Black adhesive enveloped him, pooling around the floor under him, before pushing him away from Kyla and Carbuncle and into the air--pulling another Ajora from the shadows with it. This Ajora, upon being pulled into the air, seemed to dissolve into Darkness, which only aided in Kyle's new coating. His lower half was encased almost immediately, and mere fractions of a second later it was up to his chest and arms. Up above ground now, his eyes scanned wildly, looking for a way out, for help--when he saw Ajora at the door, his hand on the seal but his violet eyes locked into his.

The replica smirked.

"The seal--!"

The Darkness then swallowed him whole, enveloping his head in the viscous substance. With his entire form encased in the coalesced substance, the Darkness began to grow and fluctuate, ebb and flow, before the Ajora that had latched onto Kyle gracefully stepped out of it and onto the ground, holding an isolated sphere of coagulated Darkness. And then... the viscous negativity hardened.

It had taken mere seconds, but no matter who had attempted to stop it, Kyle was now encased in a solid, egg-shaped obsidian chrysalis, lifted a couple feet off the ground by a thin obsidian stem that rooted deep into the cracked earth.

Both visible Ajoras, including the one that had stepped out with the (now-crystallized) sphere of Darkness, slipped into a Corridor and away, grinning as they did. The seal was repaired. In his hands, he held the fraction of a certain interloper's shade that had tried to latch on to his original. Out of sight and earshot, he spoke--

"Hello, Louis."

[Kyla: Atlantis: Outside throne room]

It is said that Hope is the best spice for despair.

Kyla had always been afraid of the whispered in the dark, and the whispers in her head. Yet there was no fear that blossomed in her heart when this voice came out of the shadows, instead she felt comforted and a steeled resolve bloomed around her as she nodded in agreement.

It made absolutely no sense. Trusting in this voice from the darkness went against everything she was raised to believe- and yet did she really have a choice?

Even if she did, she was afraid to admit it what she knew she felt about the matter. She still felt a shred of doubt, a reason to believe- not in the darkness itself... but rather this voice inside it.

Yes, that’s it. This voice.

To whom ever this strength came from, it was different then all previous encounters with the shadows. It felt…
Warm.

“Together.”

Even that is not enough.

“Together.”

Her summon agreed, for once no longer arguing with her partner. Which was surprising? Did Carbuncle understand her feelings of confusion?
'Kyle, it’ll be ok. I promise I’ll do everything in my power to protect you this time.'

An empty promise.

The page became emblazoned like the lines were not from ink but liquid gold, and the pattern of the traced bodies began to shift over each other.

The injuries on Kyle’s body began to distort like shards of pixelated color and details, till they began to vanish. On Kyla’s corresponding body the injuries began to emerge.

Unlike wounds that cut into the body, the ones appearing came from inside the pictomancer, mirroring the fallen dragoon.

This is much I owe you. Because that’s what friends do right?

Please God, don’t let me fail this time.

No one can help you- or him.

However, when the girl braced herself for the pain that was sure to follow it didn't come. When her bone and flesh should have begun to tear it didn't seem to follow through, as soon as injuries began to appear they faded just as quickly.
Carbuncle was surprised to say the least her tail swishing back and forth in excitement.

It was nearly completed, nearly finished. Just a little more
.
During the exchange not only was the receiver supposed to take his wounds, but also his weariness and give him what she had. He’d come ll this way right after going through something awful- she could tell. Kyle would need new power, new energy and strength to re-enter the fight.
Kyla made sure to account for this exchange as well. Having swallowed and ether previously, so she had half her magic left and he would have it all. With her arms breaking she would have no need for it. So she thought.

“Kyla whats going on? You're ok!!”
" I know... how is Kyle fairing?"
"He's looking better. Almost done. how do you feel?"

The pressure was building; the pain wasn't present but a weariness began to grow. As she blinked the haze in her eyes away Kyla could see the glittering crimson outline of the rose symbol painted on the chamber walls around them.

Was this the power of that other person's influence?

After long last- it seemed like an eternity- Kyle’s wounds were finally replaced, and just when she thought they were approaching the clear… the unspeakable happened.

‘No.’

Kyle was wrenched from her, even as she tried to hold on, the darkness shoved her and the little summon away and Kyle was blown upwards in a merciless wind of darkness.
“KYLE!”

The Dragoon was then enveloped in that sticky organic substance which then transformed into and obsidian chrysalis.
‘Oh God..no…’

Despite her fatigue Kyla scramble out of the broken chamber. There was no pain thanks to that entity's aid. But even after all that work- all that effort- Nothing! They were back at square one! Kyle was in danger and now…

Now…
Now she was staring into that sick smirk of that god damned schemer again.
Kyla let out a scream of frustration. It was raw and primal and full of anger.
“ Let him go you sad, sick, sonofab***h!!!”

When Kyla finally managed to get herself out of the hole she ran at the chamber's root, slamming into it with all her might. Yep- it was a stupid idea, it wouldn't make a dent or a scratch and she knew it. But she was full blown pissed right off and needed to hit something! Might as well be something that needed to be hit.
Wiping the tears from her eyes the mage opened her book and prepared ot try and get Kyle out. But how? Breaking it the normal way seemed like a bad idea-
'think- think- common Kyla think!!!'
Whatever Ajora had Kyle in there for couldn't be good. Was this connected tot he Heart of Atlantis? Was Kyle part of Ajora's scheme or...or worse. Kyla had seen this formula before in many stories and a cold fear swept over her.

"Kyle...Not you."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:32 pm

[[Louis : Atlantis : Inside a Crystal]]

Everything happened so fast, and with such ferocity. For a moment, he was on the doorstep of Kyle's heart as he had been not long before. He'd get Kyle out of this mess. He'd rescue him. All debts paid in full. But then it happened. All the darkness he thought passive burst in like a flood, crashing against his presence. But rather than pushing him out, he felt choked, entangled and finally compressed and trapped.

Before he knew it he was somewhere else entirely, this piece of him anyway. Who was this? It wasn't Kyle, no, too powerful to be Kyle.

"Hello, Louis."

His reply was mental, carrying with it disdain and venomous sarcasm, "Hello, Ajora. Long time no see. What a pleasure it is to run into you again... your guard dogs attempting to ruin and/or kill my hosts."

{Tseng : Atlantis : Outside Throne Room}

{{Cue : L's Theme}}

Tseng had followed Daniel in silence, his right hand never leaving the grip of his pistol hidden in his suit jacket. Prepared to cover his prodige if anyone tried to pursue them. However, it seemed that their enemies no longer had any interest in them. It didn't take long for Tseng to catch up with Daniel and together they made their retreat into the streets and a safe distance from the Throne Room.

The situation then escalated as a young man entered the scene in as flashy of a way as possible to come into direct contact with the barrier only to be repelled. From their safe distance they watched as another attacker entered the fight, another young man.

'Could this be the group that we've received reports about?' the leader of the Turks thought as he observed the events as the lunatic swordsman and the others quickly gained the upper-hand. 'They're not very organized...'

The gunner continued to observe the situation but turned his attention to his prodige when he tapped him on the shoulder and pointed to the roof, clearly signifying he was going to take the high vantage point to get a better look. Tseng simply nodded and followed him.

"Observe only Daniel, this is not our fight to get involved in," he stated as he pulled out his binoculars to get a better view. "I believe this is the group that we've heard reports about. They have been trying to gather vital components for Disney Castle's army against the growing darkness."

He was pretty sure he didn't need to tell the young man not to get involved. Better safe then sorry though in the Turk's eyes after all of the people that they had lost during this expedition. Tseng focused his attention on the dragoon right as he became encased in a pitch-black crystal egg while more joined the fight possibly to try and prevent what had just happened.

'This does not look good for them.'

[Joe: Atlantis: Outside Throne Room]

Joe pulled away, his hits not connecting, but with a flaming missile heading his way, he wasn't planning on sticking around to get hit by it. He jumped back, calling his staff back to his hand, when something happened right behind him, the noise tipping him off.

Spinning around, staff at the ready, Joe got to see, for just the smallest of moments, Kyle, hurt and broken, wrapped up in darkness. "NO!" A wind bullet shot from his mouth with the word, and wind blades fired from him to slice into the darkness, to get Kyle out, away, something, but they all did nothing to the collective darkness, and Joe...bit the inside of his cheek and turned, swinging his staff and throwing it not at Artemis, but above her, dashing forward and diving, feet first. He slid on the ground and then pushed himself up, kicking upward in an attempt to knock Artemis into the air before pelting her with wind blades(should she get knocked up).

[Matthew :-: Atlantis :-: Outside Throne Room]

As Matt blazed past Artemis, he stopped breathing out fire then swung his legs forward, bracing himself against the wall behind her by his arms and legs. Almost the instant he dropped onto the ground, the eruption of darkness formed not far from his person. He saw what he knew was Kyle in the thick of it, but wasn't able to get a long look at him. Witnessing Joe's attacks not having the slightest effect on it, he gritted his teeth and took a deep breath.

'Kyle trapped; must focus on trouble at hand. Archer evades easily; Joe best fighter in situation. Better off supporting him,' he thought, trying to keep his composure despite the difficulty of doing so. 'Dave, Mixes for speed and strength,' he asked his summon curtly.

'Zeus' Wrath and an Ether for the speed, Holy Water and an Antidote for the strength.'

Without any more words, he quickly summoned the ochre orb and pulled out a Ether then Mixed them together. A cloud of golden sparks formed, and by his direction flowed into Joe. He then Mixed together the second batch, this time sending a cloud of crimson sparks flowing into his comrade.
