grandia 3 is good, but i had to adjust hardcore to the the fact that it's one giant anime cliche.
also, it's been a while since i've played a game that could beat me based purely on fighting system and skill or whatever, and not levels. it's refreshing.

I got to the end with the robot, got pretty far with Red and Riki, but that's about it. I've tried all of them. Asellus looked like the most interesting one. Lute looked like the lamest.
Either way, stats didn't seem to matter at all. There were no levels, you'd just gain random stats at he end of fights. But it didn't matter, because enemies seemed to be balanced to your party's average 'level'. Even if you went back to a starter area of the game if you got an unlucky enemy spawn you were pretty ******** because every area had that ONE THING that was just superior in every way to anything you could ever throw at it.
