Maia smiled at Dari as he hurried. "Love you, have fun!" She watched him go, and headed back upstairs. She scooted into bed next to Toby.
"Hey, Dari," Cody greeted, happily. "C'mon, I've got a surprise for you at home."

Toby groaned and rolled over, flopping an arm around Maia. "It's too early for dates."
Dari grinned and nodded. "I have one for you too!" He hefted the muffins to accentuate them. "I got your drawing the other day. Thank you." He had his own in his overnight bag. He hadn't yet told Maia or Toby that the plan was to stay over. He'd simply tell them that plans had changed as it got a little later.

"Agreed," Maia muttered, snuggling close to Toby.
"I bought you some stuff I used to like as a kid," Cody said, and then spotted the muffins. He smiled. "We'll have a good breakfast." He paused and studied Dari. He grinned, after a while. "So secret agents are like regular people," he said. "Sleeping in on Saturdays!"

Toby sighed and nuzzled into Maia. A little more dozing wouldn't hurt anybody...
"Secret agents are normal people," Dari said. So were aliens, werewolves, elves, fairies, even kelpies and some ghosts. "I don't know why you assume it's 'secret' if I alluded to it, though." Oh, but it was more secret than Cody could ever imagine.
He put his bag in the back and got into the car, muffins on his lap. He tapped he wrapping.
"They're chocolate chip," he said, smiling to Cody. See? He'd remembered!

Cody was grinning. "Movies make them out to be people with numbers instead of names, secret identities and cool cars." He leaned over and kissed Dari's cheek before starting his car. "I don't assume anything," he said, shaking his head. "But it's more fun to believe my boyfriend's a secret agent."
He beamed as Dari named the ingredient in the muffins. "Thank you. Are you excited?"

"Ah, yes. Agent 47. You know, that was a video game before it was a movie, the guy with the barcode," Dari said. For just a moment he felt guilty for playing human, but it was fleeting.
"You're welcome, and of course I am! It seems silly, but I've missed you."

"Was it?" Cody seemed surprised. "I didn't know that." He smiled at Dari. "I missed you too," he said. "I'm glad you're excited. We're going to have lots of fun."

It sounded more like they were going to an amusement park than to Cody's house, but they might as well have been for Dari's excitement level. The work week was rough, and he had been looking forward to this day the whole time. He hadn't known Cody was going to come so early, though! He must have a full day planned, or else expected it to pass as it had on the mountain.
"What's first on the agenda?" Dari asked.

"Breakfast, then shopping," Cody said, and glanced at Dari. "I figure you haven't tried quite a few things, and I want to buy whatever you've missed out on. It'll be fun. I'll get some stuff I haven't tried, too. We can share the experience together. Then! I rented some movies from red box I thought you might like. And pizza for dinner, I don't know--I haven't had anyone stay over since I was a kid."

Ooh, he got breakfast out of the deal too! It was a good thing he had brought muffins to go with it.
"Yeah, it's true, there's a lot I haven't tried," Dari admitted. He'd just have to blame a sheltered upbringing or picky palate, but he doubted Cody would ask. "What kind of movies? I ordered a couple from Netflix myself." He nodded back toward his bag. One was romantic and apparently rather dramatic. A guy from the club had suggested it when they and some friends went out for breakfast earlier in the week. Supposedly there were sex scenes, though. He didn't know how Cody might react to those.
"We should go to the Asian market down by the liquor store, if you want to try strange things. People all over the internet make videos about the candy."

"I thought so. You make adorable faces," Cody grinned at him. "Oh, sci-fi, a romance, an action film." Dari'd brought movies too? They'd probably have enough entertainment to last them several days, let alone one sleepover. He pulled into an apartment complex and parked. "C'mon, maybe there's a prize in the box," he said, and climbed out of the car. He opened the door for Dari. "Mine is the bottom level," He pointed, and then led him there. "There's two bedroom's, one's a guest--" he looked at Dari for a moment, and then continued, "No one's ever used it."
He paused at the suggestion. "Yeah! Let's do that. Have you tried any Asian candy?"

"Ah. Good spread," Dari said with a nod. When they made it to the apartment complex, Dari grabbed his bag and followed Cody to the first floor.
Oho, nobody used the guest room, did they? Was Cody saying he never had guests or that all of his boyfriends had become conquests on the first night? Dari smirked his question at Cody with an arched brow and then nodded again.
"Nope!" Not since he had gained the ability to taste, anyway. There had been a mission in Japan during which Toby had raided a convenience store for the stakeout party, but Dari hadn't been able to taste, only feel, and my oh my were they some weird feelings.

Cody opened the door and led Dari inside. He spotted the look, blushed and muttered something about his parents never staying over. "Alright, it'll be new for both of us," he said, and took Dari's bag. He set it on the couch, then led him into the small kitchen. "I picked out a bunch of my favorites from when I was a kid. This one's my favorite," he pointed to a box of Captain Crunch.

"Ooh..." Sugar! Sugar everywhere! Dari bit his lip and inspected a box of Fruity Pebbles. Was Toby older than these too? His attention turned to the Captain Crunch when Cody mentioned it. His brow furrowed.
"What kind of captain is he, exactly? Military or like... ... some... very moral band of pirates?" He laughed and got to eye-level with the character on the box. He certainly was happy, whatever he was!

"I think he's uh... A navy captain? But not set on earth, there was this computer game that came in the boxes in the nineties and they had these furry aliens and had you raise them for him or something." He'd been a kid, he'd spent an ungodly amount of time leveling his fuzzy-alien guy. He opened the box and tore open the bag. "I'll get you a bowl."
