'fundamentalist Christian What disturbs me is the fact that there are multitudes of those who love this series that takes a very real entity, the devil, and turns him into a hero of sorts. At best he is seen as the very heroic, though somewhat a "fallen" and "anti" hero at times, antithesis to God Himself. WOO! Antithesis of my father! Drinks all around!

*steps out of a big blue circle*
Next time Bonfire gets me and Thunderhead drunk, then convinces us to go back to the 1950s and parade around naked on the capitol building...
Tell me it's a bad idea.
I think I'm gonna need another drink.
*grabs a floating martini*
.....
Did I just....
Floating?
*gulps down*
Right. As I said, I'll need another drink.

It's not every diety that creates flying alcohol for people. I'm even experimenting with a new strain.

This guy really has it in for Ennis. I'm curious if he's actually reviewed an Ennis book.fundamentalist Christian Well as this comic book series, along with those by Ennis, along with real life organizations like NOW and ACLU, anything that holds a traditional, literal Christian worldview is evil. It is evil to be pro-life, wanting to save the life of a child. It is evil to say that such actions as homosexuality is wrong. It is evil to say and to believe that Jesus Christ is who He says He is and whom God says He is, and thus through Him there is eternal life. So what is good in this point of view, this day and age? Worshiping oneself and one's pride and one's ego is good, so says this day and age. Worshiping the darkest occult and the demons that are there who dress themselves as angels of light and as "goddesses" and "gods" instead of the One (God through Jesus) who created us, shaping us in His hands. There is no wrong in this day and age (unless you are like so many who says Christianity, a literal understanding of Christianity, is true...that is what is considered wrong and evil in this day and age), there is only what feels good for oneself (through occult means, through humanistic means, and through mystical means) as spouted by such characters as this series' Lucifer and other "hero" characters in series like Ennis' Preacher series and Ennis' graphic novel True Faith.

Timothy_Drake * grabs a shot glass and gulps down the booze* Well, Lucifer your gesture is well appreciated. I miss owning a nightclub. It's all very well and good to run a multiverse, but there's so little time to do other things. Like play the piano, take a stroll down le Champs-Elysées and laugh at the various Endless.

That sounds a lot like the speech Thunderhead and I got from the DC cops after we got busted. Only, in an angrier voice. And without talking about Ennis. He was mainly just angry.

This is the best part of the post. It describes me as a modern Jesus.Quote: But I am not surprised by such actions and such beliefs in this day and age. What disturbs me is the fact that there are multitudes of those who love this series that takes a very real entity, the devil, and turns him into a hero of sorts. At best he is seen as the very heroic, though somewhat a "fallen" and "anti" hero at times, antithesis to God Himself. He's the "humanist" and "New Age" Jesus, one might say, by how so many fans view the Lucifer found within the comic book series. They, those who love this series and love the main character, fail to realize that by championing Lucifer you are actually championing all that is evil, all that is corrupt, all that is demented and who's only goal is to try to destroy all that is good that God created and God expresses even in this fallen world. Lucifer personifies everything that is wrong, everything that is unholy and everything that is dangerous not only now but to our eternal life--whether we talk about genocide to rape to worship of oneself (not that worshiping oneself is wrong in this day and age mind you) to choosing hell over heaven. This comic book series, eternally speaking, brings so many of you who love the series into choosing Lucifer and his gift of pride over humbleness and love toward the One true God who created us, who saves us through the blood of Christ, and who is willing if you are willing to have Jesus as your Savior, save you from eternal separation from the Lord.
I think C S Lewis said it best when he mentions that there are two troubling points when it comes to the Devil, Lucifer, the Fallen One: by either giving him too much credit or by not believing in him at all. The graphic novel series that this book begins (of a sort, w/o the Sandman issues) gives Lucifer not only too much credit, but by making him into the very nature of what prideful man wants in a god. And by doing that, the multitudes of readers who delight in this series and in the character fail to realize that they are falling down, and that when the time comes, they'll hit the ground and face the consequences.

I distilled it from the vines that grow next to the waters of Lethe. They're not actually grape vines, but the fruit looks very similar. ... You probably shouldn't breathe near an open flame for a day or so. I certainly wouldn't suggest smoking.
