Her concentration was perfect, her chakra control weak, but it should have been enough to allow the transformation. Though nothing happen, and the girl actually stomp her feet in a bit of frustration.

What had gone wrong?

She had thought she had followed the directions exactly as she took out the syllabus again and started to look over it. Her eyes would stare at each thing listed, and finally her mouth would drop as she would read the words.

Handseals
Description: The first thing the students needed to learn were the handseals that made the Jutsus possible. All twelve should be familiarized. The rules are as follows: Roll 1d20 for each seal, one at a time. The Student must get a 12 or higher in order to correctly perform a seal. Each seal must be performed once correctly before being learned. Use the formula: [1d20 + Int Mod. = (#)].
DC: 12
Total Seals Learned: 0/12
**note: No Hp or Cp cost.

Why wasn't that the first thing on the list was beyond her. Because they are shinobi? Or was they simply testing how well they are able to read? Either way, she had missed it ...and that meant that she would have to learn the ninja handseals on her own.

Though there was one problem ....the syllabus ...didn't exactly tell her what they are, or how to perform them.

Another bit of short sight ....on the behalf of whatever teacher she had.

Diamond sighed again ....as she turned and got ready to leave this place. She had wasted her time and energy here. She needed to go and learn first, and the best place for that was the academy ...if there was a teacher there.. and if there was none available ...then she would have to do self study at the library.

That wouldn't be too bad, but she best check and backtrack first before heading that way. Most things after all written in books tend to be more than a little out of date.

With the village now passing behind him Shiro walked towards the path that would take him towards his house. It was starting to get dark, but no fear entered into Shiro's heart as he walked. The family farm was protected by the Fuin system of the village due to its status as a strategic resource so there was nothing to worry about. They not only produced a large enough rice crop to feed a good portion of the village but they also brewed their own brand of sake that was sold in town as well. Not before long Shiro could see the light coming from the main house of the farm and soon after that he was walking past the front gate. As he entered the front door he kicked his shoes off next to the others that were lazily clumped into a pile except for his mother's shoes which were situated on a rack. "Mom, dad, I'm home from the academy!"

"Hey Shio, you'll have to tell your dad all about it later at dinner." his dad yelled back from somewhere inside the house.

"Yeah sure, I'll be out in the backyard training until then." Shiro yelled out as he walked towards the back of the house.

Within the backyard area Shiro found a nice flat area near the pond where he could practice the Henge no Jutsu. It was a little bit dark but with the light coming from the house and the various pond side torches there was still enough light to be able to see what he was doing. Okay so from the training that I did earlier I know that the key to the Henge no Jutsu is to continually maintain a layer of chakra around my body. I also learned that I can only do three before I pass out from a lack of chakra. With his knowledge of the jutsu in mind Shiro rolled out the academy scroll in front of himself on the ground in order to prepare himself for continuing the jutsu training. His eyes darted around the back yard looking for a suitable target when he locked onto one of the stone lamps. nu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)... "Henge no Jutsu!"

A barely visible cloud of smoke formed in the backyard as Shiro transformed his appearance into that of a stone garden lamp. Like the stone that Shiro had been copying at the Shinobi Academy his Henge of the garden lamp was identical in every way, shape and form to the original. With the knowledge that holding it for too long would drain his chakra and prevent him from continuing to train Shiro had no choice but to release the jutsu. Just as it had appeared the Henge dropped into a cloud of white smoke. That's four down. only six more to go before I can wright this training off. So far so good, the Henge no Jutsu was turning out to be just as easy as the Bunshin no Jutsu. With his dinner quickly approaching Shiro knew that he had to get in as many possible uses of the Henge no Jutsu before that time. Inu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)... "Henge no Jutsu!"

The chakra needed for the Henge no Jutsu was easily concentrated and then released by Shiro as he finished the the hand seals for the Henge no Jutsu. With a quick puff of smoke he had once again taken on the appearance of a stone garden lamp. Feeling a similar strain on his body, from chakra depletion, to when he had been training at lunch time Shiro could tell that he was fast approaching his limits. With no chakra that could be spared he released the Henge no Jutsu so that he'd have enough chakra left to perform the jutsu one more time before going to go get dinner. Phew, guess the exhaustion's back. I can't quit now though! With the resolve to perform the Henge no Jutsu three times before his mom had finished preparing dinner Shiro prepared himself for the strain of his chakra being nearly depleted. Okay, here we go... one more time before I take a break.. Inu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)... Henge no Jutsu!

For third time in a row Shiro performed the Henge no Jutsu and and transformed his appearance to match that of the stone garden lamp. Now at his absolute limits for his chakra reserves the young boy was forced to release the Henge no Jutsu. "Shiro-kun, dinner's ready! Come on inside and get something to eat before you pass out!" his mother yelled from the back porch. "I'll... be... right there... mom." he yelled back. Bent over and gasping for breath Shiro slowly made his way over to the house. So I'll get some food in my stomach and then go back to training. Waiting at the dinner table was a simple arrangement of grilled pork, white rice, and noodles. which made Shiro happy since he liked things to be simple. After he sat down and helped himself to some food his family started to bombard him with questions about his day. "Well I was late getting to the Academy..."

"Shiro-kun! People are going to think that you're like your father and it's only been a day!"

"Well I was only late because dad gave me too much to drink last night!"

"Whaaaaaaaat!" his mother shrieked "Nae'ichi what are you trying to do to our son? I said that you could let him have a sip!"

"Well in my defense..." Naeichi tried to reply

In the blink of an Yuemei, Shiro's mom, was leaping over the table to her husband. She grabbed him firmly by the collar and started shaking him rather violently before slapping him straight across the face.

"Hey Yuemei, you look really beautiful when you make that face." he said before poking her on the nose. Hearing her husband's comment Yuemei blushed simultaneously loosening her grip. Shiro was just barely able to catch it but his dad's eyes gleamed for just a moment as he made his escape. Slipping out of Yuemei's grip he made a break for the rice paddies so that he could go hide for a while. Yuemei followed in pursuit of course, leaving Shiro with his younger brother Jirou. "Ni-san, can I watch you train?" jirou asked.

"Sure thing Jirou, just make sure you go to bed to when you're supposed."

"Oh, thank you, thank you Ni-san! I promise I will"

"K, then let's go into the back yard Jirou"

After finishing his dinner Shiro led his younger brother Jirou to the spot in the backyard where he had been doing his training. "Okay Jirou, so that scroll on the ground there is my academy scroll, it has all of my lessons written in it so that if I fall behind or want to get ahead I can teach myself the jutsu or do the physical training." he explained to Jirou who simply nodded in response with a big smile on his face. "I know that you've seen mom do this ninjutsu, it's called the Henge no Jutsu and it makes you look like anything you want." Shiro continued; Jirou simply continued to listen earnestly and smiled as he was completely thrilled by his older brother. "So you make these hand seals: Inu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)..". Shiro said out loud as he named each sign for his younger brother, "and then you go, Henge no Jutsu!"

Jirou coughed as he breathed in the cloud of smoke that was produced as Shiro used the Henge no Jutsu. As the smoke cleared it was revealed that shiro had turned himself into the stone garden lamp again, but this time something was different about it. On the face of the lamp there was a stone carving bearing the words "Hey little bro. maybe one day you can be like me." As Jirou looked at the words he smiled happily but was then taken by surprise when Shiro suddenly changed back. Once more the coughing resumed as Jirou breathed in the jutsu smoke. When he stopped coughing Jirou said "Ni-san, your so cool! I'm going to tell everyone at school about how my brother is a shinobi." which was enough to set off chibi Shiro. This time the chibi Shiro was being presented an award that said "Coolest Brother on the Planet". "Yo, Jirou, make sure you tell them that I'm the best looking big brother to." Jirou nodded excitedly, "Show me more and I'll do it!" "You got yer self a deal little bro." Inu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)... "Henge no Jutsu!"

This time around Jirou was smart enough to keep his mouth shut when Shiro activated the Henge no Jutsu. When the smoke cleared the little brother's eyes almost bulged out of his head as stared into the eyes a Tanuki statute that the family kept in the backyard. Shiro had copied the statue from memory since the real one was on the other side of the pond but based on the reaction that he got from Jirou he knew that he had copied it perfectly. Of course by this point his body was feeling the strain of chakra loss again. To stop himself from draining himself dry of chakra Shiro released the Henge no Jutsu. Feeling short of breath but still able to function normally Shiro decided that it was time to make sure Jirou would hold up his end of the bargin. "Yo, little bro. You're going to tell your classmates that I'm the best looking and coolest big brother in the village right?" he said while he nudged Jirou's arm with his elbow. "Definitely Ni-san!" Jirou replied happily. "All right well as a treat I've got one more for you but then you have to go to bed okay?". "Okay Ni-san!" Inu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)... "Henge no Jutsu!"

Despite the stipulation that the students were supposed to use a pebble for their Henge no Jutsu Shiro had long since proven his ability to mimic objects so he decided to do something on his own. When the Henge no Jutsu smoke cleared a perfect copy of Jirou sat looking back at the real one. "Look little bro. you're just like me." Shiro said to him. "Amazing! You look just like me!" After his little's brothers acknowledgement Shiro dropped the henge since he was running out of chakra. "Okay Jirou you've had your fun tonight now you need to go to bed." With a dejected look Jirou replied with a "Yes, Ni-san" before he walked back towards the house. Well if I remember correctly that means that I only have 1 more use of the Henge no Jutsu before I'm done with the training. I just need to rest for a few minutes and then I should have enough chakra to pull out one more.

After a quick rest by the side of the pond Shiro felt that he had enough chakra left to use the Henge no Jutsu one more time. Okay one more Henge and then it's off to bed for me as well. A shinobi needs to be well rested. he told himself as he walked back over towards the Academy scroll. Despite feeling exhausted Shiro really wanted to finish what he had started earlier. One final Henge coming up, Inu (Dog) → I (Boar) → Hitsuji (Ram)... "Henge no Jutsu!" In an instant Shiro transformed his appearance into that of Senju Tobirama. With what little light was being reflected off the flat surface of the pond Shiro was able to see his reflection as if he was his idol Tobirama. The moment was short lived however since his chakra reserves went lower by the second while using the Henge no Jutsu. After releasing the Henge no Jutsu Shiro rolled his Academy Scroll back up and headed off to bed.

Shiro's body tossed and turned in his bed as he experienced a nightmare in his mind. The young boy had awoken inside of a terrible dream from which he couldn't escape. His eyes scanned a barren desolate field that was strewn with katana which were stuck tip first into the dirt. Large black crows cawed as they perched on the hilts of the swords or the one lifeless tree that added a single piece of detail to an otherwise barren wasteland. There was a foul stench that seemed to be soaked into the dirt and emanating from all around him. The stench made him want to vomit but he was unable to do so. All of the horrid information that his dream senses were taking in seemed inescapable and it made him want to cry. Shiro tried to hold back his tears but it was no good. The water built up and then pulled by gravity flowed towards the ground. When it hit the soil the dream world shattered and he awoke back into the reality of his bedroom. Most of his sheets had been tossed onto the floor but the ones that remained had been soaked with sweat. With a feeling of uneasiness Shiro slipped on an old t-shirt and pair of pants before he quietly walked to the back yard.

With a feeling that training would take his mind off of the nightmare Shiro unrolled the academy scroll and picked out his next lesson. Kawarimi no Jutsu is a technique which allows the user to switch his or her body with another object. The hand seals are Hitsuji (Ram) → I (Boar) → Ushi (Ox) → Inu (Dog) → Mi (Snake) Shiro red as he picked out one of the few remaining Ninjutsu techniques. Well if I'm going to be swaping places with the object I'd better pick something that mom won't care about if I break it. His eyes darted around the backyard searching for a suitable target when he found a loose stone. With his target in mind Shiro's eyes went back to the Academy scroll so that he could look at the hand seals as he did them for first time. Hitsuji (Ram) → I (Boar) → Ushi (Ox) → Inu (Dog) → Mi (Snake)... "Kawarimi no Jutsu!"

Kawarimi no Jutsu
Description: The students will use the pebbles from the Henge lesson to practice the Kawarimi technique. They must successfully complete this ten times. Kawarimi is traditionally introduced by the teachers of Konohagakure no Sato as the most basic and fundamental of a special class of Ninjutsus that involve the manipulation of time and space. It is said understanding Kawarimi is necessary in order to understand the Kuchiyose summoning arts at a later time.

Because every living thing has a definitive amount of chakra even if the difference is so minute, the idea for the Kawarimi thus is to surround both the user and the desired target object with an artificially equalized amount of the same type of chakra (the user's). This allows a temporary "bridge" connection which the user can seize the opportunity to quickly swap their position with the target object. In some ways then, this makes Kawarimi not only a bending of space, but also a bending of logic (reality). However, it's allotted "jump" space is quite limited.

Shiro felt an intense speed as his body traded places with the stone in the blink of an eye. Now located where the stone was Shiro could see that what appeared to be him was still standing in the spot where had performed the jutsu. Shiro crouched down and picked up a small pebble from the ground. He rolled the pebble around in his hand with a curious look in his eye before he tossed it at the image of himself. Upon contact the fake shiro burst into smoke to reveal that it was really the stone that Shiro had switched places with. Wow that was easy! I've also got to say I feel like I've gotten a bit stronger since yesterday. he thought to himself. His feelings of increased strength were definitely not misplaced, the training exercises that he had done the previous day had made his entire being stronger. With his new found strength in mind Shiro decided to use the Kawarimi no Jutsu to get back to where he was previously. Hitsuji (Ram) → I (Boar) → Ushi (Ox) → Inu (Dog) → Mi (Snake)... Now back in his original location Shiro decided that he felt pretty good about the Kawarimi no Jutsu and would continue to train back at the academy. Having been right earlier as well Shiro had gotten his mind completely away from his nightmare and was feeling a lot better. After rolling his academy scroll back up Shiro quietly walked back into the house for a quick shower and clothing change. Now dressed in his shinobi gear Shiro was prepared for another day at the academy. As he passed through the kitchen on his way out he stopped to grab some fruit for breakfast before he headed out of the house.I can't wait to actually meet my sensei! he thought happily as he walked a slightly above average pace. Shiro quickly reached his family's front gate and walked off toward the village. Little did Shiro know that he was in for a surprise when he got to the academy.

Soft, light, gentle petals waft down from the trees above, carried by a swift breeze that seemed to echo throughout the forest. The leaves scarcely litter the ground, making no sound as they brace against the course gravel. A steady pitter-patter of footsteps could barely be heard against the moaning of the trees in the wind, the only real sound being that of the fallen leaves and standing grass being depressed into the ground by the small, soft footsteps. It was almost odd, the way this lone shinobi walked along the forest, like something out of a genjutsu. The petals of the leaves floated by easily, with barely an utterance to be heard, as if one was rendered deft. But this was no genjutsu, no normal occurrence, and the shinobi walking the beaten path was no ordinary woman.

On her head, a wide brimmed, straw hat, her clothes obscured by a dark cloak, with a red cloud pattern. Her eyes were completely wide, not an iris or pupil to be seen, thick veins around the edges. Past the hat and cloak, a few strands of dark blue hair could be noticed, that wavered in the breeze slightly. She looked around, stopping at last, her journey near complete. But there was something missing before she could continue on, and she seemed annoyed to have to wait around. Her breathing was light, and her voice high-pitched. As gentle a representation as possible, surrounded by the most deadly piece of clothing one could wear.

"Hiku should've been here by now. I wish Naka would've at least told me what I'm here for, there's a reason I left. This isn't what I meant by asking for a vacation."
