Luca wrapped his arms around Lori, beaming. It felt like all the joy in him was bubbling up and getting ready to overflow. He returned the kiss just as passionately, stroking Lori's cheek with his thumb. "I love you."

Lori remained close, nose-to-nose and grinning.
"I love you too," he said, but it came out near a whisper. Married. MARRIED! HIM! Of all the people-- "God, I love you so much."

Luca stole a kiss, grinning at him. All fears that he'd forgotten to say something, that Lori might not be ready, had vanished with a single three lettered word. The day seemed that much more beautiful."I keep thinking about how lucky I am to have met you," he said, stroking Lori's cheek. "I'm so glad you're in my life."

Lori couldn't think of any words to express his joy, and so he simply took Luca by the sides of the face and kissed him again. Rosie was interested now, peering up at the men and wagging her tail curiously.

Luca noticed Rosie after the kiss broke and laughed. He bent down to scratch behind her ears and said, "Rosie, I'm going to marry your Daddy."

Rosie happily accepted the scratches and looked up to Luca with what looked like a doggie smile. Lori grinned down at them and then turned back to Luca.
"Do I get to put it on?"

Oh right. The ring. He'd forgotten it somewhere between opening the box and kissing. He looked down at it, removing from the box it carefully and offering it to Lori. "I'd love it if you did."

Lori grinned as he took the ring and slid it on the appropriate finger. Engaged. officially. Wow. Just a little over a year and they both... just wow. He admired it, then looked to Luca.
"Where's yours?"

Luca was so surprised by that question, his arms fell to his sides. His? No, no. The person getting asked got the ring, wasn't that how it worked? "Er... Still at the store. I haven't picked it up yet."

Lori smiled and arched a brow. In hetero relationships, sure. The guy bought the ring, asked the girl, and went ringless until the wedding. With just men, though? If Luca had been researching, he'd been doing the wrong kind.
"You didn't buy one, did you?"

"Of course I--" Luca began, and then admitted, "No, I didn't." He must have found the wrong Google page. "We can go to the store and pick one out," He suggested, eager to fix his mistake.

"Well, good. So I can buy you yours," Lori said, "Can we match? That's usually the convention." If Luca didn't really want the same band, though, he wouldn't mind!
"...can we go now?"

"Matching rings?" Luca asked, and then smiled. "Yeah. Ours can match." He took Lori's hand. "Alright, let's go now."

Just before ten am Saturday morning, there was a knock at Toby's door. A disheveled Maia opened the door a few moments later, and stared at the person outside. "That's right," she muttered, and shut the door on Cody. She looked for Dari. "Dari! Cody's here!"
Cody was amused. He snickered as the woman closed the door and waited patiently for Dari. It seemed even secret government people liked to sleep in on the weekends. He'd prepared breakfast for Dari at home, and was terribly, terribly excited to see him again.

Dari got up quickly, grabbed his pre-packed bag and the plate of muffins, and rushed to the door. He gave Maia a kiss on the cheek in thanks. Clearly she would rather be sleeping in with Toby.
"I will keep you informed," he said softly and then opened the door with the hand attached to the arm from which his bag hung. "Cody!"
It had been only 7 days, and he had missed the man so much.
