Daemon would have liked to say no except not only was it just a few days ago he had been in a sword, but Daemon even before getting his body back was never really that physically coordinated.

Nevermind the fact he now was a bit less coordinated as he was still getting use to have a body.

And the fact the stairs were made for elves, in which 6 flat was considered short to them.

He chuckled a bit, "On the safe side, I would like a bit of help, thanks."

"You're quite welcome," Laer smiled, extending her arm for him. In a way, for her, it was like helping Nadya re-learn how to walk after her accident, except that he wasn't as tall as her daughter, and Gion had helped Nadya more than Laer had. Still, it felt good to really be useful again.

She helped him down the stairs, and just as they were reaching the last few steps, the front door burst open and Sylvar, Laer's great-grandson, entered. at fourteen, he was a year older than River, and taller. His hair was cut short, like Gion's, and like his sister, his skin was browned from life in the sun.

"Oh," he said, blinking at Daemon and Laer when he saw them. "I guess that means you already know. Grandmama's gathering the guests in the yard, Father sent me in to ask you to fetch water for everyone."

"I'll need help with the glasses," Laer told him. "And the pitchers." As the boy scurried off to the kitchen, Laer glanced down at Daemon. "Will you be okay once we're done with the stairs?" she asked him. "I can take you outside if you'd like."

She could recruit some more help then, too.

"I hear some of our guests might be related to you," she added with a grin.

Daemon smiled brightly at that last comment, it was true.

"Yes, I've been looking forward to this."

Unlike Nayda he had only an idea, and it only begun as their visitors entered the plantation grounds. Still, it was enough for him to go by.

"I think I should be fine once we're done with the stairs, though I know I'm not always the best judge in that," Daemon murmured as they reached the last steps.

"Well, if you feel unsteady, just shout," Laer told him as they reached the main floor. "We're only a short distance away."

She made sure he was steady on his feet before she headed off to the kitchen to help Sylvar.

"I will," Daemon nodded.

As Laer went off to help Sylvar, Daemon slowly made his way to where the guests were. It felt painfully slow to Daemon who wasn't use to having to take it easy like this.

Then again he couldn't remember when was the last time he walked like this neither. He managed to make to the doorway before stepping out, and took a moment to revel in the feel of the sun against his skin. He had been cooped up since his separation from the sword and while he could see through Gion's eyes he couldn't feel.

It felt wonderful...

It must have been a strange sight really, for he looked like a human but he was dressed like an elf (he certainly couldn't be wearing his Gaian clothes all the time every day), and there was something foreign about the gold rimmed glasses he wore. All in all he must have made to be a strange looking human enjoying the sun as if he hadn't felt it in centuries.

In the yard, there was so much commotion that for a moment no one noticed the strangely clad, bespectacled human in the doorway.

Andarien was staring at the grass as if it was something completely new to him (which it might as well have been, since he hadn't seen it since their time in the Westland). Ivy was talking to anyone who would listen to her, flitting from one group of people to the next, but most of the adults were resting in the shade of the trees that lined the yard, bordering it from the desert.

Nadya had invited everyone to help themselves to the apples she'd picked (after assuring Amalirahc that it would be just fine, since she had offered them now). Gion had shown up, and he and Galdor (his and Nadya's son) had brought the horses to the barns to rest, and put the wagons away. Galdor's wife had sent word that she was on her way, though she hadn't yet made an appearance.

It was Lancaeriel who first noticed Daemon, and she watched him curiously through her pale lilac eyes. She wasn't really participating in any of the conversation: though she was traveling with the group, she still didn't really feel like one of them, and she kept mostly to herself, when Iorlas wasn't speaking with her.

Slowly he made his way towards the group though his steps began to get a bit wobbly near the end. Honestly he didn't think it would be so hard just to make it from point A to point B, and he wasn't even traveling far.

Lin smiled as she watched the children for a moment before taking a glance around to see if anyone else had arrived. It was then she noticed Daemon and her eyes lit up because he was there.

As in really there.

"Grandfather!" she leaped up and hurried over to him.

Which apparently wasn't a moment too soon because as she neared him, he did end up loosing his footing and nearly toppled over if Lin hadn't been there to stop him.

"You're here! Really here I mean... wow...."

She had talked to him a few times growing up, having been lucky to have met Gion when she was young, and then again at the wedding and again when she went to traveling the Southland. He had always tried to touch her but as a specter he wasn't really there and it just felt strange since he could go through people, so it was strange to actually be holding onto a person.

Earendil smiled and got back to his feet and followed after Lin, a few paces behind her. Daemon didn't look like he was very steady on his feet, and he wanted to be on hand in case the man needed help. On the other hand, he didn't want to get in the way as Lin was reunited with her grandfather.

Andarien was distracted from the grass at the commotion, and he stared openly at the man with the gold-rimmed lenses. They were different lenses from his, which he recognized right away. He wondered what they helped with.

"When did this happen?" Lin asked looking up at her grandfather in awe.

Daemon chuckled sheepishly, "A few days ago actually, I'm still trying to adjust. It's a bit strange having a body again, though if you don't mind helping I'd like to sit again."

It was clear he wasn't going to be up and about any time soon.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 01, 2012 7:29 pm

Earendil stepped forward to help Daemon to sit down. He hadn't seen Daemon before, he had always given Lin privacy to talk to him, but he knew who he was, and he wasn't sure what to say to him. After all, the last time he and Lin had been on the plantation, they hadn't even been courting; and now they were married and had two children!

Daemon smiled warmly at Earendil as he took the help offered to him. No point faceplanting now of all times.

"It's good to really meet you Earendil," Daemon murmured.

He was rarely out of the sword, even at the wedding, he really was only there because he wanted to "see" Lorthiriel and perhaps tease Estel a bit.

Earendil smiled at the man and bowed his head respectfully. "Likewise, sir," he replied. "I'm ... we haven't been formally introduced, I don't believe. Prince Earendil Aldrich, Gion's nephew, and Lin's husband."

It was a bit awkward for him, being addressed before they were introduced, but for all he knew maybe that was common in Gaia. Well and maybe Lin was a bit too excited or flustered to think about that at the moment, which, he reflected, was understandable.

Daemon chuckled, of course that was understandable they had never been formally introduced.

"No... I believe we haven't, you've never touched the sword in the only time you've visited here before," he murmured with a nod since he would probably topple over if he did, "I am Daemon Winters, Kara Winters' father and of course Lin's grandfather, which would make me a great-grandfather to your children."

There was a pause and another chuckle.

"My how the family has grown."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 02, 2012 8:08 pm

"As it always seems to do," Earendil laughed. "Even without some people being married, there seem to be more children added to your family somewhere or other."

He grinned. "You should meet the children," he invited his grandfather-in-law. "I'm afraid they don't know about you - at least, Andarien doesn't, I don't know about Miyuki - and of course they've never met you."

He beckoned for Miyuki and Andarien to come join them, since Daemon wasn't in much shape to be doing any walking around himself. Andarien crawled over, his eyes on the brightly glowing man. There was a lot of magic in him ... and on him, too. Even with the dark lenses, he had to squint.

Miyuki did as she was told, she had heard about her grandfather in stories and in passing since he was the one who started the clan but not much else. Except for the part where he got stuck in a sword but it was quite clear he wasn't stuck anymore.

He really wasn't that much taller than her, but she was the same age as River, and while not an elf, she wasn't short like her mother or grandmother.

"Hi, I'm Miyuki..."

"Hello Miyuki," Daemon looked to Andarien and nodded to the little boy, "Andarien..."

They were both quite different and he wasn't talking about race. Their auras were quite different, but that was to be expected, but he wouldn't put too much stock into them not quite yet it would change as they grew older and settled more into themselves. His fingers twitched as he resisted to touch threads only he could see, it wasn't like he could feel them anyways. He looked at Andarien carefully and smiled a bit more.

"What do you see?" he asked Andarien.
