Roarke looked off in the distance. "Really? Two?" How very sad that was. And the little wolf-kids were so cute and seemed to carefree, except for one or two, who seemed to be looking for something. "Why more danger? This is probably one of the safest places around."

Aella put down her book, and wraped her hands around her knees. The room that her and Meilikki shared was good for reading, well light and comfortable. "There is lots. We won't run out for some time. Why? Are you bored?"
PostPosted: Fri Jan 13, 2006 3:34 pm

Daz looked at the pups as well, "I led the jackles right to them, and now they have a trail to follow. This places does feel very safe, but I'm still worried, these pups have already gone through a lot."

Eliot made an odd face. "Not bored really. Just at home there was always somethign that needed to be done, and I've never had so much free time, I don't know what to do with myself. Warren is okay, he doesn't need me to poor water down his throat. There are no pups to feed or to teach, no council meetings, boundry patrol, den construction. Free time at home was almost non existant." She shrugged her shoulders a little.

"The jackles? Who are they? Are the Kin?" Refering to the type of creature, not the realtion. "I'll do my best to protect your family here. I can't really see anybody getting into my place without me knowing."

"Oh." It's too bad she didn't really know what to do for fun. When she didn't have anything to do she read romance novels, which was more like work, because try as she might, she couldn't enjoy it. "Sorry we don't have a pack here for you to look after. I'd suggest going outside, but it's storming."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 13, 2006 4:14 pm

Daz shook his head, "They are not kin. They are stuck between a human for and an animal form. They are... the delinquants of the forest. For as long as we remember the jackles where always attacking our kind. They are jelouse of us i supposed and wish to be the superior beings, though they've never given any explanation as to why they attack. Its been that way for years." He watched as Jude patently waited fot Zell to turn his head before jumping him. He was not surprised when Jude managed to pin Zell as well. "they are disgusting creattures, dirty and unkempt. They have no morels and instead of learnign to live for themsleves they steal off of others." He chewed his bottom lip for a moment, "it is not unknown for the jackles to slip by defences."

Eliot shrugged her shoulders a little, "I used to be afraid of storms when I was little, then my father made me stay out in one once and I realized that as long as your carefull, they can't hurt you. I actually enjoy them now..." She sat for a few moments listening to the storm, "I think, Aella, you would have enjoyed my home. Its very peaceful."

Kat wondered around the mansion. paying attention to nothing while she wittled a statue of the two vah, standing wing to wing, arms crossed and happy expressions on their faces. She thought they looked good that way. She had just started leaving her carvings all around the place. Some where of animals and some where of the people of the house. She had cought glimpses og the Imps and so there where minatures of them all over. She had even done one of Bode and Moonstone together. She had done Malik and Piper. She'd even done Piper's father and the little fairy. It almost seemed that she was capturing life not with paintings or drawings, but 3D memories.

She finished her latest piece and set it on a table in one of that halls. Now what? She thought

((Lindsay, check flimflam))

Roarke gave a soft wistle. "Ah. I see, they are the degenerates of the society are they? What about other kin? Are there, cats and birds and what not? or has it always just been wolves and jackles?" Roarke was very curious about these things, and he liked to be learned.

"And um...if you wondering...I've been doing some favors for Eliot. Trying to figure out where she came form, and what not." He coughed into his hand. "Some of my more strusted students were able to give me a read out the other day."

Allea smiled. "I like the storm too. Dimitri was a coward, and thought the storms were sent by his enemies to kill him. He would hide in his chambers surrounded by gaurds until it was over. He left the harem alone those days." Which were very far and few between. "I like the outdoors. I wish i could spend more time there, but being outside alone frightens me. Maybe if I were on the water, it wouldn't be so bad. I love the water."

It had almost become a game for Moonstone, walkign through the corridors of the fortress and finding little figureines stashed all over, next to vases, on shelves, as book ends, table center pieces, they were everywhere. He could look at one, understand who it was and somtimes even remeber the scene as it happened in his memory. Backing away from looking at one piece of Malik and Piper, he bumped right into Kat. "Ah, whoops. Sorry."

A book was tucked under one arm.

Daz shrugged his shoulders a little, "Ocasioanlly we would meet a cougar, once even a badger, that could transform into humans, but there was never anything as wide spread as the Wolves or the jackles.

He razed his eye brow as he studied Roarke, "Is that so, and what have you learned?"

Eliot smiled and rolled over onto her back. "There were plenty of streams and pools, and a lake with the smallest island in the middle. It was beautiful." She laughed lightly, "You where never alone, there was alway someone. Pups, elders and freinds, other animals. It was a wonderful place. You could swim in the lake" She thought about Deep Water and when Warren had stopped her from tryong to swim to the other side.

Kat gave a small "oh!" when she felt something collide with her back, she whipped around ro see moonstone and caught th oath rising in her throat. "Ah, no worries," She saw the book, "So what are you reading?"

"Really? I had no idea such people even existed. I suppose they don't make it that obviouse, eh?"

He cleared his throat again. "Ah yes, well we found some very odd things." Okay, no more beating around the bush, that wasn't his style. "We found plant cells."

"You were enver alone in the harem either, but it wasn't the good kind of enver alone." She shivered a bit, and instead tried to imagine this place that Eliot described. It was all gone now wasn't it? Destroyed by Dimitri's men..and all for nothing.

There was a little blush under Moonstone's fur. "It's uh...Gilgamesh, Mesopitamian folk lore." Lately, he had been reading up on adventures and heros, folk lore and ledgens, myths...and had been wondering if any of them were real. Maybe he himself should see if he could find the lost city of Babalon, or Atlantis. Or perhaps the Oasis and the mass of wealth supposidly hidden there. Treasure Island, Dinotopia, Mount Olimpus...but all of those things had been on the surface world. If they were real once, chances were they were gone now.

Bode, two happy imps chasing her while she squealed happily, ran through the dinning room where all were seated. She paid no mind to anyone, just running through as fast as she could. Little Tahru, interested of course, reached out a hand to touch them. Her fingers swept of cheek and arm, but the child and the imps were gone far to fast for her to take hold. She went back to playing around Zahara, and moveing on to Piper.

Daz's shoulders slumped. "Yes, there would be plant cell's wouldn't there?" He said almost to himslef. After all where else had he come from?, and those genes would have been passed down to Eliot and the other pups as well.

Eliot sighed. "There was moss on the cavern ceiling, that would glow. We would make patterns with it and then find our way through the forest using those paterns. My father said people used to do that with... "stars", on the surface." She rolled onto her stomach. "Do you have nay happy memories Aella?"

Kat perked up a bit. "Folk lore? Wow are you interested in becoming a Bard in your spare time? Wow imagine to be the writer of such a story? Maybe you could write your own Moon!"

Roarke sighed, smiling softly. "You've never told her have you? Where she came from? How she became a wolf?" That was understandable. It was a delicate subject, adn if you are living happily, then why broach the subject.

"Wow. That sunds so...exotic. Your primiive life must have been so very rewarding." She sighed though, tilting her head and letting her hair slide off her shoulder. "Happy memoreis? Not until after Dimitri died." And even after that there was few. She remebered being happy when she was with Meilikki and Tarathiel, sometimes Onyx when she wasn't feeling like her stomach would explode.

Moonstone cleared his throat. "A bard? i"m not all that certain I could hold a tune or play an instrument..." That and he didn't feel like he had a right to sing about other people's adventures. How could he sing about sometihng that wasn't his? It kind of felt like stealing. Altohugh, the idea was still kind of appealing.

"No, most of the pack didn't know." He hung his head. "When my wife and I, and some of the others, escaped we decided that we didn't want to live as experiements. How would our pups feel? Knowing that we came from a lab, from god damn corn stalks? No... no we would rather have them live happily thinking that they were gifts, and not abominations against nature."

"How many people out there would have sought us out? Killed us off because of what we were? We would have been freaks to many, freaks against the God's they believed in." He sighed, "We wanted to live normal and happy lives. And we did for a time."

Eliot smiled a little, "We never saw it as primitive, only simple." She tried to smile a bit. She felt that Aella deserved to have more good memories then what she had.

Kat shrugged her shoulders. "Well then, huh, enjoy the book." And getting an idea she got out her knife, a chunk of wood, and began to make a statue of Moonstoone in an old Bard's costume she had once seen. There was a large cape, wityh a pack full of book snad a lute, and hat with afeather sticking from the side, and large boots that rolled down just below the knee.

"That was an honorable decision I think. Wonderful thinking for soemone who came from corn." He smiled. "And you produced a large pack, it can be done again. Your people could florish again." He sat back on his wrists, crossing his legs. "How long did it last?"

She laughed a bit' Simple, that's what I meant. Must be nice, living with a family, learning..." She sighed. "Well, actually I have a family now." It was a bit of an unspoken thing, but it had happened, hadn't it?

"I uh...I will." Moonstone furrowed his brow, and his curious cat nature made him lean opver her shoulder and look at what she was doing "Is that me in a dress?" Although, it did look kind of neat...he wondered if this was something he really could do...if he was a good enough signer, adn was interesting and the like.

"These pups are the third generation, so unfortunatly not long at all." Daz shook his head, "The pack is lost now. These pups will grow up in this sivilization, they will have families yes but I doubt that they will live the way we did."

Eliot smiled, "I'm glad you've found something that makes you smile."

Kat laughed out loud. "No your not in a dress, your in a Bard's cloak. Its just very large thats all. She handed him the finished statue. "It could be fun, entertainign people."

Tarathiel let Meillikki ponder for a brief moment before he started talking in his traditional 'I love the sound of my own voice' way.

"You are you, and I would guess that being able to see the future makes it your business, if you care to make it as such. Personally, I would not be me if I knew what would happen if I did something inperticular, that would be against my deep rooted sense of self. My identity is in my ability to throw caution to the wind and try numerous things to ends I have yet to concieve, mind you, my chaos always brings up the same patterns. Like the chaos gate, where rolling the die and marking the page will eventually reveal the shape of a triangle inside a triangle."

"Since you and I are different in many ways, I would guess that the future being so forthcoming to you would make life somewhat stressful. You knew I was coming, and you knew that you would either hate or love me because their is no middle ground with me. I am too much of a force of presence. I like talking about myself. Don't you just enjoy how I took this serious conversation about your deepest feelings about yourself into a conversation evolving around myself, simply because its almost the only thing I really know anything about."

"THat, and killing people."

"Well, maybe my distraction brought clarity, but that really wouldn't be my strong point would it? I am not exactly the most clear of people to see."

"I think you are great."

"Does that help?"
PostPosted: Fri Jan 13, 2006 6:06 pm

"Only three generations? How did you avoid...you know...inbreeding problems?" Not that Roarke was trying to be isnulting, he was generally interested.

She was smiling now. "I've never had a family before, it's kind of nice." sentimental today, weren't we? "I guess you're part of that family now too, Eliot. Maybe Warren, if i get the chance to get to know him." Although she feklt reserved, she wasn't good with males, except her Father.

Moosntoen lifted an eyebrow. "A bard's cloak?" Woah, they got to wear clothes like that? Moonstone liked wearing clothes, as opposed to his brother who usually wore little. "That's uh..neat." he turned it over in his claws. "You finished that really fast. I bet....uh...nevermind."

Surprisingly, it did help. It's when Tarathiel was not talking that Meilikki started to get worried. "Yes, we are very differnt. Of which I am glad, as being the same would be boring, wouldn't it?" Hate or love, she had known that much, although which one it would be she didn't know then, She was very glad it had been the latter, and not the former. She chuckled, "Actually, yes, that does help. I like the sound of your voice. It calms me." She would have liked to say companionship wasn't forgien to her, after all she had Tanudnra, but the dragon spoke in her head, and simply wasn't the same.

She smiled. "Why am I so great?" Just curious really, after all, what was so appealing about an old blind woman?

"Well, I think its because... Well... Its... You." The elf smirked, "These funny things inside me that wern't there a few months ago for one thing. That would make you great. You did something inside me that no one else has ever done."

"And you have pretty eyes."

"My eyes were pretty once. But that was a really ******** up situation."
