I was driving to work this morning and noticed all the flags out in the morning light. (I had a late start to work thanks to Mr. Moon) It took me a minute to remember what day it was and the relationship to the flags. 6 years, and it feels like a dulled pain of remembrance. The thought is no longer sharp, it does not draw blood, but it sinks the heart and sobers the mind. It reminds me of automatically stepping around a hole in the ground, where a sheltering tree once stood, but was felled by lightning. And while the remains have been cleared, no one has filled up the hole, either out of indecision or neglect.

I don't quite understand how anyone who was above the age of five during 9/11 could not remember the importance of the date confused

Some people are more inclined to remember events that only have a direct effect to them personally. Added, teenagers can be pretty absent minded. I was. Still am... What was I talking about?
Although if you asked them the significance of say, Christmas, they will always remember.

I remembered on Monday actually. I looked at the calender. It kind of pinged for me. That day was scary for me. I heard about it when walking to the bus. It didn't seem real to me. Then when I got to class we spent the time watching the news. The whole day was like that. Watching the smoldering remains of the plane, crashed into one of the towers. I remembered watching the first and then the second tower come crashing to the earth. I can honestly say that at that point it all seemed real. Frightening. And then I cried. September 11th should be a day of mourning and respect for all those that lost their lives. A lot of good people died that day. They should be remembered and respected. Instead I find this. It made me want to puke.

I went to a private school. I can't remember if we had the day off or not or just spent all day in prayer. In any case I'm more sick of money grabbers that take advantage of people's fear and patriotism.
How many companies got richer simply by adding American flags to their stock?
But moving on to lighter topics, go read my xanga. It has kittens involved. And death.

I had heard about that cat not too long ago. It's kind of like my how my kitties seem to get extra snuggly with me while I'm sick. xd
