Eh, the internet has replaced previous forms of entertainment in many cases. There is quality to be had, even on YT, such as Extra History, which updates every Saturday.

Yes, it's a pretty recent sub-series from them. Their original 2 shows were sponsored by companies making games relevant to those time periods. It was popular enough that they set up a Patreon so that they could keep doing it.

I am both heartened and disappointed at Patreon. It is good, since it frees the content maker from any form of corporate control. Doing so frees them to do what they wish, as they wish (within reason). The problem is by going to Patreon, the central hub (in this case the Escapist) is no longer populated by anything worthwhile except one series. Instead of a one-stop shop, it is a disparate set of links all over the place. One member, MovieBob, used to do reviews for films, but hasn't done a single one since going to Patreon. What i liked about his work has been cast aside. More and more of my favored content providers are going this route, and not only does that make them more awkward for me to follow, it also means that what I like is no longer promised to even exist.

The Patreon model, while a welcome breath of fresh air, does have its problems, just as crowdfunding (Kickstarter, etc...) does.
I never liked anything about Escapist aside from its content creators. You're right, their exodus does make it harder to keep up with them. Thankfully most producers have YouTube channels even if they post to other sites, so I keep up with everybody I care about there, for the most part. I do still go to Escapist for tabletop news, though.

I only ever went there for videos . . . but despite being subscribed to Moviebob on YouTube, he has barely done any movie reviews. I will say that Feed Dump does continue on a regular basis. If Yahtzee decided to go to patreon, he does upload his stuff to youtube, but a week late. Change is not necessarily bad, but when it makes content harder to obtain, I do think it to be a step at least sideways, if not backward.

Give Yahtzee is their last big-ticket person, I would hope Escapist would be smart enough to not mistreat him as they apparently have all of their other content creators. Of course, this assumes Escapist is rational, which their poor treatment of past content creators views against.

I cannot say anything on that subject. All I know is that in recent months, their content creators have left in almost literal droves.

I know Extra Credits left due to not being payed as agreed upon in their contract. No idea with Bob & Jim, though I know Jim has stated he wanted freedom from publishers demanding reviews be delayed until post-launch.

I do enjoy Jim's editorials, and he is the least offensive of the disappearing content. His Patreon is discussed, but his Youtube updates regularly, and I am fine with that. I really can't say what is going on with Escapist, but whatever they did, they screwed the pooch.

This music always makes me stop. I have to pause, to take it in. To let the folk and emotion wash over me like a great wave. It speaks to a part of my soul in ways that I might have once found unnerving. Now? Now it is like having a chat with an old friend. One who's face I cannot remember. One who's touch is a mere echo, and yet so very welcome. There is magic in that music, I think. It calls to me. Every time.
