Hmm, fair enough. You could do one of two things: either you could build a conventional Guard army as with the codex, with more tanks, more men and some specials, or you could hang on until next year and wait for the Elysian list found in IA8.

But as always, I find that the list is more attuned to the person fielding it. Doctrines are thankfully gone, so the whole train of thought that one SHOULD take close order drill and one SHOULD take Iron Discipline and that one SHOULD NEVER take commissars is gone and done with.

So, go with a basic army, go with what you want, or wait for that new air mobile list that I know for certain you will enjoy to the fullest.

As an aside, get a vanilla Russ and a Basilisk or Griffon, I'm sure you can convert the latter from something nice and clever. The Griffon is a cheap miracle on tracks that really works like a charm.

Griffon with its ultra-accurate barrage for 75 points is really bargain... all non-power armored armies hate it

Just do what Mac does: buy crap without any thought or care, thus amassing such a humongous army that you can do any sort of build you like. gonk

I'm on limited funds and limited space, so going mad like I did with my old Ork army is not an option. I might get a Griffon around March though, here's hoping those parts are included in the artillery boxed set.

I'm going to be honest here, if they don't fit in the bigger picture I won't be fielding them. No hard feelings. sweatdrop

A mechanized veterans list isn't that hard. Just add a Chimera to each squad. xp
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:53 pm

Good mech would be whatever those ******** neckbeards use in tournaments these days. Lots of vets with meltas.

Go with several squads of veterans and a command squad, all loaded in Chimeras, throw in some 'Hounds, some recon Sentinels, tonnes of Russ tanks and some artillery: presto! Mechanized Guard.
