John laughed heavily, almost choking on his sandwich. "Do some more pushups, son, and it wont matter! Besides, nothing gets the women going like a big thumping animal between your legs!"
He nudged Bren with his metallic elbow, chuckling as he looked to Hono'o, trying to make her blush. He used the thumb on his left hand to pry off the bottlecap on the beer, taking a swig before speaking again. "But, to each his own - as you can see, i'm not quite built for speed, so i guess I dont understand...if you like to feel the wind in your hair in that way, good for you. Too many kids these days are scared to try such things..."

Hono'o nearly choked on her sandwich at the mention of a big throbbing animal between ones legs... yup her mind went right to the gutter on that one blaugh ... turning a balefull glare to the big man and what she perceived as his bad attempts at sexual innuendos in front of her teenage son.
Bren shrugged with a grin. "The best I can really manage is the wind in my face... you should have heard the chewing out I got the last time Mom caught me without a helmet." sweatdrop The boy didn't bother to go into the lecture his twin sister had later given him on the same subject... he just figured it was a lot less trouble to wear the helmet...

"Aye, well, your mother likes to worry....you can't fault her for that." John said with a small smile, reaching out to grasp her hand with his right hand and gave it a bit of a squeeze. "Some might say that is her best quality..."Releasing her hand, John sat back in his chair, polishing off the rest of his sandwich before grasping his beer loosely, looking back to the boy. "So....what do you do when you aren't feeling the wind in your hair?" He asked, interested.

Raven couldn't help but to laugh softly shaking her head as her fingers lightly stroked John's.
"School now and again, but only when I have nothing better to do." The boy did look a tad abashed when Hono'o glared at that last comment. "I just don't like the forced social interaction stuff... learning is usually entertaining."

John put his beer down and bit his bottom lip, chewing it for a moment as he tried to find the right thing to say. "...It can't all be knowledge, son...the social stuff makes you understandable in a normal situation...otherwise you'll never be able to tell others what you haver learned. What would be the point then, if you cannot teach others?"Johns fingers intertwined Hono'o's gently, enjoying the soft touch of her fingers. "What subjects do you like ther most?"

"Mr. Tomorrow, I don't do the social stuff because half the time I don't understand what the heck they are talking about or why they do some things... I am technically only 5 years old, it is only through some seriously messed up magic that I look like this! Most of my brain managed to catch up with the body, but there are really a lot of social iteration things that are taught over the course of years." The boy took another bite of the sandwich and chewed for a moment before swallowing to explain himself. "I learned most of them, but I don't use them with the practiced ease of most people. It is a lot like a person who grew up in one culture and then was dropped into another, you learn, but being fluent can take a long time."
"But at any rate.. when it comes to school, I like gym and shop and history the best."

" But at any rate.. when it comes to school, I like gym and shop and history the best." "Right..." John murmured, assailed by the information and shooting a slightly accusing look to Hono'o, wondering just why she let him roam free if he was like this. Not that he could blame her - if the kid had grown up so fast, he'd want to fly the coop as soon as he could, what with hormones and stuff raging through him... ....He had the feeling the boy felt confused most of the time, even a little lonely. John didn't want the boy to become some sort of proxy son - as far as he knew, he only had one son, and he'd already messed that relationship up - but he hoped they could become friends....or, at least like with Sam, come to some sort of arrangement... "Sounds like you like to remain active. Thats good." He said critically. "Do you live on campus...?"

Bren managed to polish off the last of his sandwich and glanced at Hono's untouched half almost as if by reflex. "No, I live at The Nest... Uncle Evan likes to watch out for Samantha and I when Mom is away, and since the current school is just outside of Durem it makes it easier for me to get there and home again."
With a smile and a little shake of her head Rae held out half of her sandwich to her son.. the boy was like a bottomless pit some days... all that height she expected. "What he isn't mentioning is the fact that the place he lives in had enough security to be a small fortress, and that he was kicked out of the last three private schools that I enrolled him in. He gets great grades when he bothers to stay on campus... but he has this uncanny ability to get off campus without anyone the wiser!" xp
"The last place said that it thought he needed a loser environment, and that they were not set up to be babysitters... I canceled the rest of their payments for that comment" stare At their prices they should have damn well found a way to chain the boy to the wall while pampering him constantly sweatdrop
Bren shrugged again and made the half of the sandwich almost magically disappear before leaning back in his chair with a satisfied look as he leisurely nibbled at the rest of the cookie. "They were a bunch of stuck up snobs, teachers and students alike... since I wasn't willing to play the 'Name Game' with them it was easier to camp outside the walls or head back to the Nest than worry over what stupid prank they were going to try and pull on me next."

The Asgardian managed to suppress a smirk at the mention of 'The Nest'....he didn't remember much of Hugin, but he did remember that he fancied himself a bit of a Batman wannabe...never mind John did more for Durem with two handguns and a lot of blood then all the money in the world and due process could do...
"Pranks? They pick on you?" John asked, frowning.
He understood the school system - anybody with half a brain did. The higher the price you paid, the more elitist the people became - say what you like about the public school system, at least they were realists. And sure, violence was rife in the public system - but in a world where a man with a head full of fire could walk into a grocery store and buy a loaf of bread with a 40% charcoal mix, it didn't mean much else to put protection in schools.
"...Be that as it may, Hono'o...I mean, your mother does it because she wants you to have a good education. You'd be surprised what a decent paycheck and job security does for a teacher's morale." He said, before cocking his head to the side. "'Name Game'? Whats that?"

((Hey now, don't go dissing my work! xp designed the Raven's Nest as well as the new RI corporate headquarters* I got this thing for floor plans redface ))
The boy shrugged again at the implication that he had been picked on, refusing to even glance at Hono'o for a moment.... he was out of that place, and that was all that mattered!
"The 'Name game' as I understand it was all about being able to spout off the names of important, famous, or rich people that you knew in casual conversation... like such and such actress was over at my house for a wicked party during the holiday, and you just wouldn't believe what they said!...." The boy managed a nasal imitation of a teenage girl's voice on that last bit.
"I didn't play, didn't have a clue who most of the people they were all talking about were supposed to be even... and although I am starting to understand that my Mother has quite a bit of money stashed away... she isn't exactly famous, and neither is Uncle Evan... so I didn't have any names to throw around even if I had wanted to." sweatdrop
Raven's eyes had narrowed as she clasped her hands together and leaned her elbows on the table, resting her chin on her knuckles frowning slightly... perhaps a set of private tutors would work better for him, she knew that Bren already got quite a bit of academic assistance from his sister... at least when someone could drag her out of the nearest library sweatdrop

((Sorry, but...two ravens, The Nest... xp ))
"Good. It sounds like a stupid game. It sounds like these people validate themselves on who they know, rather then who they are, and you don't want to be around those types of people. They're not truly people - they're just vapid imitations."
John grimaced at the thought. What a stupid game...couldn't such children think of anything better to do with their lives? Surely with the amount of money they seem to have, they would have something else they could do...
He smiled to Hono'o as Bren mentioned her money, rubbing her back gently with his hand as she leaned forward....she was famous in her own right, although people did not know of her as much as they should...and if Bren ever found out about how she got some of her fame, he might die of shock!
He reminded himself to find one of those calenders she posed for...then attempt to hunt down and destroy all who were involved with the production of them...

((I think that might have been the point... all I cared about were the floor plans heart whee ))
The boy nodded again. That had been how he felt about it... they were stupid people and he hadn't wanted to have anything to do with them after a few months. He just hadn't been able to catch up to his mother long enough to really explain it to her, instead he had just skipped enough classes to get expelled and then moved on to the new place.
Raven sighed softly, mostly happy at the rub to her back but the rest was just sadness... neither man understood that it didn't really matter what others thought, one just had to learn to smile and nod at such people and mentally pretend that they were not even there... of course she wasn't too good at that either xp

He suddenly felt like he was impeding on their time together...they rarely saw each other, and now he was taking over the conversation. "Well...I hope you enjoyed your lunch. I'll, uh, go do that stuff to the Thunderbird I told you about the other day, Hono'o...let you guys catch up a little bit."He leaned down to give Hono'o a quick peck on the cheek before beginning to round the plates and glasses to take to the kitchen...

"Halt!" With a grin Raven snagged the big mans' shirt. "I called for this meeting because the two of you... need to get to know eachother!"

He placed the plates down and sat back in his seat, shooting Raven a look of contempt. Was that why she really wanted him to stick around, or could she just not handle her own son for more then a few minutes? In any case, John looked back to Bren, smiling a knowing smile. "...Well kid? Got any questions?"
