Luciano listened closely, and he heard Cordell. "You'll know when I call you." Luciano nodded and then he said, "So. . who do we owe a thanks for this bribe?" Cordell said in responce, "Mason Ricci. He's a friend of yours, Commander. Anyway, I must hang up now. Tell no one about this, you two. . that is all." and with that Cordell hung up. Luciano looked up at Skotti and he said, ". . . Something tells me that we're about to be sucked into something we don't want to get sucked into."

Pen nodded and took the box. She saw Waffle turn away and Pen understood why.
Pen bit her bottom lip and slowly opened the box. The platinum shined and she shut it again. It is a ring that Sabe was hiding. Which only means that wimp never popped the question!
Pen looked back at Waffle and then back at the box. Should I tell her? She rubbed one of her temples and shook her head. Like I can lie to her.
So Pen tried again and opened the box entirely so the ring was completely uncovered. "Waffle...its..."

Waffle hesitated to turn back to Pen, but when she did, she noticed the platinum ring sitting inside of the box, with an aquamarine set inside of it. Her expression slackened, and her mind had many thoughts running through it.
"I have no clue how to react..." Waffle said, shaking her head. "Not at all..."

Skotti opened the envelope and looked at the money "Guess I can tell Rikka that her tuition just got paid in full" he said.

Kydre had long since finished what she had been doing when the gang returned home. No one looked hurt but there had been an extremely sad aura about them that made her worry even more. It didn't take her long to figure it out when a certain member never showed up.
She was now in her room inspecting the liquid she had been boiling earlier. She had put it into several crystal bottles all of different shape and size. She placed them into a black box and picked out the smallest one. She then tied a small light blue silk ribbon around the top and made her way to Waffle's room.
She hesitated for only a moment before she knocked on the door.
"Miss Waffle?" she said.

Satria had watched all the members walk solemnly back in to the now hollow feeling HQ building from the one of the Lobby's side hallways. Now outside, she had settled herself on street with a cup of coco. Taking a dainty sip at a time, she watched the commontion of the city.
Yaolti would be laughing right now if he could see me right now, She thought taking a sip, her breath forming small puff of white clouds before her. It was then she noted a small spot of white, which was followed by another, and then another. Oh great! She thought with a scowl. Its now cold enough to snow...well at least we can have some pure white before the city turns it into masses of gray, yellow, and brown mess.

Waffle sat down on her bed, cradling her head in her hands and wondering of what could have happened.
He really did love me.
When she heard Kydre knocking on the door, she turned toward the closed door.
"What?" she asked with a little unnecessary attitude.

Pen didn't respond to the knock but kept a very sadden expression as she inspected the ring. It so... expensive! How in the world did that guy get a platinum ring? How well are attendants paid?!
She now looked flustered and took the ring out for inspection. It must be sliver to look like platinum probably would have caused her finger to turn green of something. This caused a piece of paper to fall out of the box as the ring was removed. Pen froze as the leaflet fell onto the floor yet another thought crossing her mind. Vows? A plan to ask her maybe?
Pen wasn't sure what to do, maybe he thought he wouldn't live to ask her in person. She pushed this thought out her mind. Unless he was ill and didn't tell us I really doubt he knew what would happen. Finally after all that thought she bent over to pick up the letter.
"Waffle?" Pen asked hesitantly as she held the unfolded paper in front of her, the ring and box in her other hand. "Looks like there was more."

Waffle took the note from Pen and skimmed through it. The entire note was written in Drow. Although the handwriting was absolutely terrible and that Waffle never really kept up in language studies, it was still legible and she could understand it. She looked at the bottom of the note to see that the person simply signed it as "コテキ".
She started to laugh nervously.
"Pen, I don't think he planned on proposing....especially if this engagement ring was supposed to be my parents'. The note's an apology from my dad to Colbur for losing the ring right before they got married. Can't believe I got worked up over nothing..."

Pen sighed in relief and looked back at the ring. "Didn't think he could afford this. I wonder how he got it though?"
Though it was a relief that the whole thing was a jumped conclusion, Pen now wished it was for Waffle. The ring it self would be a reminder that the scarf boy really loved his little magi and if things went as planned a wedding would be on the way.
A rather tragic romance yes but romantic nonetheless. After things settled down and his passing wasn't so fresh, the ring would have been a symbol of all the good times they had with him along with the love he had for Waffle. A love he at first wouldn't admit too.
Pen now sighed again for the fact she had thought this too far and the ring was no longer of any importance. I read too much into this

Waffle looked down again and tried to think how her parents' engagement ring would be in Gaia and not Serole. Then her expression waned out.
"I think he found it when we were at Gaia's military base. I remember there was a large storeroom in the base containing the ruins of the floating city. The box might have been hidden in there, and I vaguely remember Sabe taking a little longer to get out of the then-empty room." she said. Her eyes threatened to tear up again. "Not like it matters anyways now."

Pen rushed back over to Waffle, I'm suppose to cheer up and not make her cry. She sat down next to Waffle and with a very confident tone and look she spoke.
"Yes it is. I bet you anything in the world that Scarf tightwad was going to use this. And bet that on my life. He loved you dearly and he would want you to have it because it was special to our parents as well." Pen's smile returned and she held the ring out to Waffle.

Waffle took the ring, and looked at it. The aquamarine reflected the dusk sky that could be seen from out the window. She sighed as she put the ring and note back into the box. She opened up a drawer in her nightstand and set the tiny box inside. She looked towards the window as she closed the drawer. She couldn't come up with anything to say, but nodded. She didn't cry, but her expression didn't change either.

Meanwhile, Koteki was kicked out into the hall once again by Colbur, who retreated back into the infirmary. He sighed, then wondered how Waffle was faring. He knew very well that Sabe and Waffle had a connection, and he wanted to talk to her in person rather than through the orb.
He walked over to where the portal was and stepped through it. His expression was solemn as well.

Kydre, not wanting to bother them more then she had too, rolled the tiny vile under Waffle's door.
"It's a tonic. Whisper to it what you want it to do for you and it will do it...anything at all...well short of making people fall in love and all those rules anyway. I guess you can call it a gift if you want," she said through the door.
She stood up and went back to her room.
'I guess I should check the others...' she thought and picked up the black box containing the rest of the tonic. A second later she put the box away and decided to leave them alone.

Waffle got up from the bed and picked up the vial.
"...what of 'those rules?' are you even talking about?" Waffle tried to ask. She sighed when she realized that Kydre already left.
As she was walking back to put the vial in the nightstand drawer, she noticed her father and gave him a hug.
