[Ravenwing's eyes twinkled with mischief as he gazed into the rushing river, looking for any fish that would be suitable for Desertpaw. There weren't too many fish in this season, but he could see a couple of carp swimming across occasionally. They weren't too big for Ravenwing but they were all about the same size as Desertpaw, or maybe even bigger. A tough first catch, but if he was going to be Ravenwing's apprentice, he was going to have to push himself a lot.]
"Right, see those orange fish swimming? They're carp and they swim very fast. You can never hope to swim faster than them, so you'll have to dive in and catch one with perfect timing. If you manage to catch one though, your she-cat's definitely going to be impressed."
[Ravenwing said as he gave Desertpaw an encouraging smile, and without any warning he took a running leap into the river, hardly making a splash. Through the water, he could be seen diving like a torpedo straight towards one of the carp, grasping it in the back of the head before swimming up towards the shore, tossing the wriggling fish at Desertpaw's paws. Everything happened in a few heartbeats, almost impossibly fast.]

[Desertpaw watched Ravenwing in awe as he skillfully leaped into the river and caught the fish.]
I might not be able to do it that well yet Ravenwing, but I will give it my best shot."
[Desertpaw walked up towards the bank and spotted a fish that looked exactly like what Ravenwing had caught, but it was just a little smaller. Desertpaw bunched up his haunches and leaped in, rather clumsily; he caught the fish by the tail, but as soon as he started swimming towards the shore, the fish wriggled free and hurried down the stream. Frustrated, Desertpaw leaped back onto the bank and cursed under his breath.]
"Mouse-dung! I almost had that!"
[Desertpaw spat with fury.]
"And I was going to give it to Cherrypaw when we got back to the camp!"
[Desertpaw caught himself at the last minute, a fox a mile away could have heard him.]

Griffon(paw)Lost and foundforsake me nowor let me return home![A pale light glowed across the rocks as a lone brown figure trudged through the stones, scrabbling piece by piece through the cliffs. Griffon panted, eyes glittering with excitement and yearning. She had traveled for lifetimes, it seemed, and finally her destination neared.
Scrabbling downward now, she remembered what Foampoppy had said: Follow the cliffs till the sun drowns in the water, and then slip down the slope inland. The entrance to the camp is a hidden rocky path, unreachable from anywhere but there. May StarClan light your path.
She shivered excitedly, basking in the cool spray of foam. She loved this place! She'd always loved water (as well as wind) and couldn't wait to return to her true home, especially after hearing it was next to an endless stretch of water called the sea! And StarClan? Her mother-or, fake mother- had never mentioned them before then, but if she used them as a blessing, they must have been important!
Griffon was suddenly distracted by a bubbling sound and froze, ears pricked. Carefully making her way down the rocks, she followed the noise until it formed into a roar. She popped her head out from behind a boulder to see a river frothing down its way, teeming with fish and other lifeforms. Her ears pricked excitedly as she spotted a fiery warrior at the riverbanks. Her eyes widened until they nearly bulged out of her head, and she trembled in excitement. That must be a warrior!
The warrior was distracted by her catch, muttering to it. Griffon padded to the riverbank, realizing she was on the opposite side of the river. Despite the river's loudness, she could still hear what the cat was saying and tilted her head curiously. As she fish slapped the warrior's face, Griffon couldn't help but mrrow with laughter, her bright face glowing with amusement.]
"Do Clan cats always play with their food?" she called playfully, not realizing how much trouble she'd be in the moment the warrior realized she was an intruder. "Where I come from, fish don't attack back."
[Her sky blue eyes glittered with a teasing look as well as an almost awe-struck look. This cat was some fighter, like herself! The warrior sported scars of many size, but the one across her flank interested Griffon most. She'd gotten scars in her time, too, though her thick fur hid most of them.
I can't wait to find my mother-! she thought absentmindedly, forgetting about the fiery warrior for a moment.]

[The gladiator lunged forward with a fierce hiss as she sunk her fangs into the large fishe's gills. The monstrous fish thrashed about, but this time Dragonfire qwas ready, ducking her head in time to avoid yet another nasty slap across the face. She dug deeper and deeper until finally, it went limp. Once again seh was victorious. She smiled slyly and proudly down at the catch. Her feeling of victory was interupted by a loud laughter. With lightning in her eyes she shot a glare at the strange cat across the river, not recognizing the she cat.]
"Oh? whats the point in even catching a fish if it doesn't fight back? Who are you, i cant say i have ever seen you before, are you just anti-social or are you what some would call an intruder?" [She gave the she cat a sly smile as she whipped her tail challengingly back and forth, her way of saying hello.] "Awfully wide eyed you are mate. You MUST be new! Where you from? You gunna come over here and face me or are you going to stand on the other side of that puddle and giggle. Come on mate, let me get a better look at ya."

"Are you part dog?" she asked excitedly, jumping to her feet.
"I've never seen a cat that can wag their tail before!"
[Then, she paused. She could probably wag her tail too, if she tried. She scuffed at the ground with her paw, feeling stupid now, but at the warrior's invitation she nodded eagerly.
She flew into the air and landed with a loud splash in the river, swimming neatly over to the she-cat. As she stepped out of the river, water streamed down her rich brown coat, filling her eyes. She shook herself messily and grinned cheerfully at the cat, flicking her tail.]
"Hi!" she chirped in a friendly tone.
"I'm Griffon! I've been searching for SeaClan for days. It sure is hard to find!"
[She sat down, neatly tucking her tail over her paws.]
"So what's your name? Are you a gladiator like me, too? You have scars like I do!"
[Her eyes glittered innocently, painfully unaware of how stark a contrast the origins of her scars compared to Dragonfire's were.]

Had this cat never learned the meaning of that signal? (when a cat wags their tail its an aggressive sign : D ) She was about to say something snarky when the strange cat suddenly lept into the river, swimming just like she had lived here her whole life. Dragonfire's eye twitched. How was she so good at swimming!? She had been her a while and she STILL could swim slightly better than a kitten at most! When she plopped her soaking wet self right next to her, splashing water on her own wet coat she gave her an awkward smile, something between a snarl and a pained expression made off to look like a two leg kid smiling for a camera they already knew was there.] "...hello." [She muttered.]
"Wait what? you have been LOOKING for this place? How do you even know about us? how much of the code do you know? takes a while to learn just to warn you. I am Dragonfire, nice to meet you Griffon."
[Her ears shot up when she mentioned she was a gladiator, just like her.] "NO WAY!" [She gasped! Who was this cat!? she eyed her carefully. She had scars but they looked nothing like anything you would get in a real fight, unless she fought only cats her own size like a beginner.] "Yes, i am a gladiator... How did you escape!? How many have you killed?" [She began to throw question after question. her curiosity for the stranger growing by the second.]

She'd never met a cat she had to fight, anyway. She imitated Dragonfire's awkward smile-snarl, wondering if that was how Clan cats greeted each other. (( Now she's gonna snarl whenever she sees a cat |D Thanks, Dragon. >3> ))]
"Escaped?" she echoed, squinting as she thought.
"I squeezed out a window, and helped my mom get through by chewing off the meshy stuff around it. We ran to the forest and she taught me something called the warrior code, and changed her name to Foampoppy, and told me to come home. So here I am!"
[She paused, contemplating the next question.]
"I've killed lots. Can't really remember. You kinda lose count, y'know? I remember there was a young badger...and a fox! Though he wasn't more 'n a young tod. Oooh, and I fought off a dog once too! It was big and grey, and had a mean snarl!"
[She puffed out her chest proudly, licking her fur.]
"I had to protect my mother, and besides, without me she had nobody else, y'know?" Pausing, she added, "'Course, it turns out she's not really my mother...but she was the best foster mother I could ever hope for."
[Her eyes clouded with conflicting emotions, but she pushed them away, shifting on her feet. I wonder if all gladiators have to escape from somewhere to become gladiators? Weird. Well, she seems to know more about being a gladiator than I do!]
"So, uh, how did you escape?" she asked politely. "And how many did you kill?"
[She was secretly hoping she'd get to show off her skills on her new friend. Perhaps even use them on her. Her eyes glittered as she pondered the idea, a mischievous look creeping into her eye.]

[Her ears lay flat against her head as she spoke that she had helped her mother escape as well. Clenching her teeth she looked down and glanced over at her sister Pheonixice. If only SHE had saved her mother as well. But no, she just got ripped to shreds by that wolf. She should have stayed. If she had fought to the death like she was supposed to maybe.. just MAYBE her mother wouldn't have had to fight as well, and would have lived one more day. for starclan's sake if she was able to find a window maybe she could have helped her mother escape so that her beloved sister could have met her! But now, she had run, like a coward. But this stranger never failed to defend her mom.] "i... i see. you must be a really brave gladiator Griffin. yeah, it is hard to keep count after a while..." [Her bright amber eyes returned to the stranger when she asked about her escape.]
"...well I had to fight my way out. I, i ran. i am known for being fast, thas how i survived..." [She said hiding her glare, refusing to expand any more than she already had. she noticed an odd look on the stranger's face. a look that mirrored her own, usual expression. She sat up tall as she grinned the same grin back.]

Her expression, in regards to being a gladiator, was much more sorrowful and hate-filled. Was being a gladiator a burden for her? Maybe she'd fought too many creatures. Contemplating the thought, Griffon twitched her ears .]
"Ran, eh?" she chirped. "Good. Twolegs can't catch the slowest mouse! Must've been easy to just run."
[She'd been trying to find a way for her and Foampoppy to escape forever, trying to convince her mom to take her into the wilderness, but Foampoppy had always preferred being taken care of without effort. But even she had a happy spark in the wild, something only Griffon could understand now.
But she forgot to mention something very important.]
"Oh! Do you know someone called Moss-star?" she asked eagerly, unaware that anyone with the name -star was leader. "She's my real mom. Foampoppy catnapped me a long time ago from Moss-star's litter and took me to that twoleg place. I've traveled all the way here again cause Foampoppy died of an infection and told me the truth. I'm really eager to see her! What is she like? Is she nice?"
[The dainty cat's eyes glittered with hope, her whiskers twitching with anticipation.]

[Dragonfire snarled under her breath as the she cat said how it must have been "easy" to just run away. was she MAD!? Every war god flooded out of that hive like a swarm of angry bees trying to track her down, while she was bleeding to death on top of that! She was just about to snap at her, rip her to pieces when she suddenly blurted out that she was Mossstar's daughter. The gladiator's eyes almost bulged out of her head. This cat never failed to surprise her over and over again!]
No way, that cant be true! Mossstar is the clan leader, she couldn't have been a gladiator! How could she ave guided the clan if she was always trapped in a war god hive fighting in the ring while the clan is out here in the free world!?
"Alright something smells fishy here! no pun intended... how can you be Mossstar's daughter if you are a gladiator!? And why would your foster mother TAKE you to such a horrible place!?" [She almost yelled. trying to keep herself calm.]
"As for Mosstar she is an incredible, honorable, and worthy cat! She is the only leader i will follow and have sworn my life to protect her! She has accepted me as one of her warriors... she has been going through a rough time, im sure seeing you will cheer her up!"
[Her fiery eyes shifted from left to right.]
"Unfortunately you just missed her. She left camp a moment ago with... a suspiciously sly lump of overly groomed fur..."
[She muttered, trying to think of the est way to describe Foxfire to a cat who had never met him before.]
[She turned to look at her sister as she spoke, listening to the sound of her beautiful, ringing voice. She smiled back as she gave her an encouraging grin.] Thank you Pheonixice...
