One finger at a time was slow work, so Skye put out all four fingers and stuck them all in at the same time, then tried to stick her entire hand in her mouth to get it off.
Unfortunately, her mouth wasn't quite wide enough ... so instead she started licking her fingers.

"Pudding?" Ulani questioned, supressing a giggle as she watched Skye try to eat the food. She reached out and set Skye's spoon directly into her hand, then looked back at Kara.
"What's pudding?" she asked curiously.

It was a strange sight Kara thought of seeing a little Second take nibbles out of a spoon full of... well whatever it was.
"It's a kind of creamy dessert, or often unless a person ate it for a snack," she smiled a bit, "I don't make it though, but I'm sure Triton has."

Ulani's eyes grew bright, and she smiled brightly at Kara. "And how is Triton doing nowadays?" she asked eagerly. "How did he enjoy the rest of his stay in the Four Lands?"

Kara smiled thoughtfully, "He's doing fine, working as hard as ever," she mused happily, "He enjoyed the rest of his stay, travelled a bit to Elnara's old home and to a valley she wanted to show him."
She didn't mention how upset Triotn was at Elnara's family, but she was sure it was alreayd known.

Ulani blinked and stared at Kara. "Rainbow Valley?" she questioned, setting her spoon down and leaning forward slightly. "Was that it?"
No, she'd never been there personally. But that valley, she knew, was the exact opposite of their mountain spring. Death, not life.

Kara nodded, "I do believe so," she admitted, "That is where they went to, to take a look around," she smiled fondly at the thought, "I think he enoyed his time travelling, our sudden departure never let me ask that question."
In truth, it had slipped her mind, she should ask that later.

Ulani tapped her fingertips on the table and stared out into nothing, her eyes unfocused. She started muttering to herself under her breath in elvish, shaking her head slowly.
Finally, her eyes focused on Kara once again and she said slowly, in all seriousness, "That girl is lucky to be alive."

Kara tilted her head a bit, "Why do you say that?"
She understood it wasn't fully safe there, but she had thought Elnara took all precautions there would be to travel there. Afterall, she was always worried about other people.

"Because Rainbow Valley is the second most dangerous place in the entire Four Lands," Ulani replied softly, picking up her spoon again and stirring her food slowly. "Some consider it to be the most dangerous place. Besides the water, which will kill anyone without enough elvish blood in them, there are the unicorns - which will stampede at the first sign of anything they deem threatening ... nearly anything that moves that they're not perfectly familiar with. Then there's the cliff, the weather ..."
She shrugged. "Only five other people have been there and survived," she finished simply. "And barely at that."
She dug her spoon into her bowl and recommenced eating.

Kara took a few bites thoughtfully, "Hmm... I didn't know that, when you put it that way, it's ironic the troulbe started after they were heading back from the valley then, not while they were in it."
Which was true from what little was spoken about it, perhaps she should ask Triton sometime.

Ulani nodded slowly, savouring the food in her mouth for several long moments before swallowing.
"Gion did mention that," she nodded. "But he won't say what happened, beyond the fact that they were attacked. Though ... he hasn't been around much lately at all." She shrugged.

Kara mused on that, "Does he normally travel a lot since Elnara left?"
It was a sad thought to her that a family would be taken apart like this.

"He left home less than two weeks after you all left," Ulani replied softly, her eyes dimming. "He spent the first winter here with Serenity, but he was gone again at the first sign of spring ... since then he's been coming here for most of the winters, though he's also spent a few winters in the south."
She sighed. "To be honest I don't know if he would return home again. He's so angry at all of his brothers ... even Atalya, though there was nothing she could do. It's a sad and sorry state that family is in, make no mistake."

"He can't remain angry forever," Kara mused, "Though, my understanding was that he felt a bit out of place even before it happened, maybe this was just the final straw you know?"
She had long talks with her children after they had come back, it was quite possible.
