The former captain stopped tapping as the Hyperon's shields activated internally, causing Marines too near to scream out as the sudden burst of kinetic energy used the metal hull to superheat the ground under them, melting their boots then cooking their ammo. James stepped from cover calmly, weapon raised in both hands, tugging the trigger of his bolter back calmly, compensating for the heavy recoil with a trained air, then ducking back. He automatically slid an eye down over his ammo counter, "Is this a date?" He asked Arianeira uncertainly.

"Fun though," he replied, blind firing. He wished he could get hold of one of the Guardsman's rifles.

"I thought pirates always had grenades," James said bitterly, gathering for a sprint. He drew in a deep breath. "Cover me. If I can get nearer to Hyperon, I can power up her weapons." Without waiting for an answer, he sprinted through the doorway, for a crate.

James rolled forwards into cover, he stood a moment, firing as he tried to access the Hyperon.

"Right," James muttered, "If she won't answer, I'll make her." The captain twitched and fell back suddenly, crying out as if shot. A trio of Marines let out a cheer and sprinted over towards the body. A siren sounded from the Hyperon as the scanners detected the prone yet unharmed captain with three hostile's closing. The engines begun to power up as the ship re-activated, fighting the numerous blocks set by the Christine. Winning its fight, the Hyperon twisted, weapon targets effortlessly seeking and destroying the targets, then continuing the fire, isolating Arianeira from being targeted.

The roar of a heavy weapon sounded from near James as a marine fired a portable rocket at the Hyperon. Stratford stood up behind the man, his face a mask of anger. He drew his fist back, lancing it clean into the dark red haired males face, noting in the back of his mind he looked father gangly. The male staggered forward, blood spraying from his nose. As he sought to regain his balance, James stepped forward, slapping the man across his face and knocking him to the floor "How dare you touch her, you little ginger fool." The Marine cried out for mercy, and received it in the form of James slamming his boot into the man's face, driving the bone in his nose into his brain, killing him. James stepped back distastefully.

"You shouldn't have shot at either of my girls," he growled at the corpse, looking over at the hole in Arianeira's protection. There was a moment before he saw the females flight, sprinting over. They had to be quick. He sent a mental pulse to Hyperon, who sent out violent waves of power at the female's ship, in an attempt to start the engines.
