It was starting to look a little ominous on the road to Cerulean City. Dark clouds were promising a good downpour in the near future and the sun was fast on the way to setting. Akane hoped that she and Twinkers, who was clutched to Akanes chest, would beat the rain as her feet padded along the deserted Nugget Bridge. Akane would be thankful for the Pokemon Center when they reached it, things were starting to look pretty scary right about now.

"Anna!" Sakura yelled as she watched Tyrannitar's attack connect with the Misdreavus. When the Tyrannitar got to its feet, Anna lay on the ground, knocked out. It slowly disappeared, and seemed to find some way to return to its Pokeball. "You'll pay for that!" she yelled, before opening her mouth and loosing a Solarbeam attack on the dinosaur. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw another Aerial Ace attack coming towards her.
"No!" Krystal called, before rushing in front of the attack, taking on the damage. "That... ow," she said, as she regained her composure and looked toward the Absol. "You're more trouble than you're worth!" she said, extremely annoyed. Rushing toward the Absol, Krystal encircled her body around it, and locked her muscles together tightly, in a Wrap attack. If anything, she could keep it distracted while Sakura dealt with Tyrannitar.

As the battle progressed Mike felt more and more confident in his abilties, he was going punch for punch with Giovanni! "Alright Portabello, finish him off with Dynamic Punch!" After ordering the attack, his attention turned to Nina, who was staring at him. What do you think you're doing? Get the hell out of here while I've got him distracted!
The Breloom let out a sharp grunt, flipping backwards charging up his right fist. This is it for you! He shouted, dashing forward and slamming his fist square into Machamp's gut.

A soaked and miserable Akane trudged into the Pokemon center, clutching an equally drenched Cleffa. Nurse Joy was quick on her feet and rushed over to the newcomers. "Oh, your poor little Cleffa needs a good warming up! Let me take her for you and you can see about warming yourself up too. The showers are that way" smiled Joy.
Akane sneezed as she handed Twinkers over. "... thankyou ...." she said quietly. She headed off to take Nurse Joys recommendation as lightning flashed outside.

Are you insane? Nina thought-spoke to him. This entire situation happened because of me... and there's no way that I'm going to leave unless everyone I dragged into it comes back with me!

Machamp's eyes widened. His fists stopped glowing and he flew from Portabello, his eyes streaming. He landed on the ground with a loud thud and remained motionless. Giovanni lifted up a Pokeball and returned Machamp into its protection. He leered at the boy, then lifted another Pokeball in his ringed finger. He threw it out, and a large red Pokemon emerged from the light. Upon its head were many spikes, one of which had been chipped away. It had a large claw, another chunk missing from it.
"KOOKEEE!" Kingler bellowed, closing its large claw on the image of Portabello.

After what you said back there I didn't think you gave a Rattata's rearend about me! He snorted angrily, recalling the harsh words that made him cry back outside the Gym. I'm going to show you that I'm not as useless and stupid as you think I am! He turned away from Nina, fuming mad.
I'm not listening to another word you say, you are an ungrateful witch! Mike felt another set of tears welling up but choked them back, not wanting to show any signs of weakness in front of Giovanni. So help me if you're not gone by the time I turn around again... Anger festered inside him. At this moment he felt like he himself could take on Machamp. He grinded his teeth together as the rage built up.

Mike peered closely at the Kingler. Something seemed familiar about it but he just couldn't quite place it. Where have I seen that Pokemon before... "No matter, Portabello, Sky Uppercut!"
Charging forward and lowering his right fist, Portabello stomped forward with impressive speed, ready to knock the Kingler over with his powerful attack.

Do you honestly think that in my right mind, I would ever say those things to you?! Nina asked, taking a step toward him. Couldn't you tell that I wasn't myself? I saw my sister die in front of me, and something inside me snapped! It was only a matter of time before that happened, anyway... It happened to Sabrina, and now it happened to me. She sighed. I know that you hate me beyond words right now, and I don't blame you; if I was in your place then I'd hate me, too. But... I want to make it up to you... Let me help you fight Giovanni.

You call this a battle? I'm using this as a diversion so you can make your getaway! Mike groaned at the simplicity of his strategy. I've got an escape route, all I need is for you to run! Lifting up his arm, he set the nozzle on his gloves from Fire to Smoke. Perfect. He let out a small chuckle. With all this distraction and espionage, he was starting to feel like a real live secret agent.

Giovanni held up his finger and waved it, clicking his tongue once more. "Foolish child," he whispered. He snapped, the Kingler sidestepping with impressive speed (considering the size of him). Instinctively, the crab snatched up Portabello with his large claw, squeezing him tightly. "Vicegrip is a powerful move. I'll be very surprised if your precious Breloom can make it out."

...If you don't get out of here after I do, Nina thought, then you'd better believe I'll be some kind of mad at you. Reluctantly, she got Sakura and Krystal's Pokeballs and recalled her Pokemon from battle. Grabbing Kasiya and Flannery's hands, and after reading Mike's mind for a moment, she and the other girls ran off. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Portabello being crushed in the Kingler's Vicegrip attack.
You'd better leave soon! Nina thought-spoke to the boy, worried.

"Wait!" Kasiya cried, letting go of Nina and whipping out her Pokeball. "I can't leave him behind!" she wailed, recalling Digger into his Pokeball, who'd been attacking the Absol with little success. Kasiya was in awe of the power of the dark type, something eerily familar about it. "Alright, let's go," she nodded, as she regrouped with them, turning to look at Mike. "Come on, Mike! She yelled after him, fearful he was in over his head. She took an instant to glare at Giovanni, disappointed that she wouldn't be facing him today.

Ryka frowned as Jaeshan walked out. Why do boys always have to fight? She thought to herself. I think that I should just give Jae some time to think.. Ryka looked over at Kilik, who was staring at her. She smiled and took a seat next to him. "So, uhm.. I really don't know how long. It's been a while, I know." Ryka said, tapping her cin with her finger. "How about you? Have you been traveling with anyone?"
Aurora purred and looked from her trainer, to Kilik, to Flareon, to Kilik again, and back to Flareon. She then attempted to touch Flareon's mane, which to her, looked very pretty. Aurora's pink sun charm bounced lightly against her chest as she moved her arms.

Kilik leaned forward, locking his fingers together. When he looked down at his hands for a moment, he imagined many rings on them. He shook his head. I'm not Giovanni! his mind roared. "Hmm?" he looked at Ryka and laughed weakly. "I was. I've been traveling alone for a while now. At least a week and a half," he shrugged.
Flareon puffed out its chest, showing off its mane. It wore a smug expression that clearly stated he enjoyed the attention he was getting from the female Espeon.
Flareon, you sly dog, you, he thought, laughing again. "But I've had Flareon and Weezing to keep me company," he added, "It's not so lonely."
