Leif perked up visibly when he heard the other mention food.
"I'm not picky..." He mumbled, but his eyes were still bright with the prospect of not having to work for his meal. He pattered after the kid like a big gangly stray dog, minus the ears and the slightly wagging tail. He didn't say anything about Ger, but his attitude revealed his relief that the other wasn't home.

"Does chicken and rice sound good...?" he asked, biting his lip slightly as he looked through the fridge. "Looks like Ger took most of the leftovers and I don't really like casserole..." he said, gesturing towards an out of place, brown lump in the the fridge. "Don't worry, I didn't cook that. Ger brought it home about a week ago and it's been there ever since. He says he's gonna eat it, but..." He frowned and reach in, wrinkling his nose as he took the plate out off the shelf. "I think a week is long enough to wait. And with that, he scraped the stuff into the trash can and set the dish in the sink to be washed.
"We have the ingridiants for chicken and rice - brown rice, I hope you don't mind.... And there's some lettuce and stuff for a salad and some apples...." he said. Of course, there were other things as well - but he didn't particularly feel like cooking them at the moment. "I need to go shopping," he concluded with a soft frown.

"I haven't had chicken and rice in ages..." He couldn't surpress the happy way his mouth curled up on one side. "I've mostly been living out of deli's and pizzarias..." Leif didn't remember anyone ever cooking for him, but he did vaguely remember that chicken and anything was something he liked.
"I can help with the salad if you want." He offered, managing to surpress down his happy like he surpressed most things; with a lot of effort and no visible expression.

"If you want to, you're free to help - and I would appriciate that. But you're a guest, so you don't need to," he replied as he began to get out ingridiants - much more than just chicken and rice and lettuce. He had spices and lemon and all sorts of things lined up. Before too much time had passed, he had the rice cooking and was cutting the meat up on a cutting board.
He got out the skillet and proceeded to add various ingridients and soon had the chicken sizzling. He then motioned at the vegetables, which he had lined up neatly on the counter. "The stuff for salad there," he said somewhat distractedly, keeping one eye on the chicken and the other on the rice.

Leif picked up the lettuce and ripped the leaves off it, then ripped them up and placed them in a pile on the cutting board. Then he reached for a a cucumber, and that's when the fun began. a tiny green stalk burst out of the cucumber's shell, than another, then another, coiling around his fingers, hand, and wrist in a slow, almost sensual grip.
"Eh..." He grunted, making a sound like he'd cut a big chunk or maybe cut a piece at the wrong angle. Certainly not a noise that equated to the surprise he felt. Cucumbers were hanging off his wrists, weighing his arm down. "Damn..." He was much more calm about it than he'd been when he'd last been awake. He was much less emotional and paranoid when he had enough sleep.

Shadi, somehow able to have to time to take a glance at the other in the middle of his concentrated cooking, gaped at the sight that met his gaze. "Ehhh... you're really new to this... huh...." he said, gaping slightly. "I bet you could probably make it grow in reverse... I mean... you know, go back to how it was... I think.... By the way, did you remember to wash all the vegetables?" he questioned, turning hurriedly around to stir the chicken as it began to sizzle and pop. The heat was on quite high and, by the point, the boy had a pair of oven mits on.

"Oh."Leif thought about rewinding the process in his head. The cucumbers shrunk, then grew, then shrunk back and dissappeared, stalks shriveling back down and shrinking back into their seeds. Leif tossed his head to get his lock black locks out of his eyes, then looked at the sink. He remembered a time when he'd eaten out of garbage cans, so he hadn't really thought to wash something that came out of a clean refridgerator.

"Good," Shadi said, observing the process for a moment before turning back to his cooking. The chicken was done and so he turned the heat down way low and put a lid on the skillet. "The rice should be done in... mmm... five... ten minutes, maybe..." he said, a calculately expresion on his features. "How's the salad comming? Not having toruble with any more growth spurts?" he asked, a small smile lighting up his dark eyes.

Leif shook his head and revealed the chopped up vegatables just waiting on the cutting boards to be put in bowls. He'd spent some time battling with the tomatoes, but eventually Eden had said something to them and they'd gone quiet.Hedid remember to wash them, but only after being reminded did he remember how to work the spray hose in the kitchen sink.

"Mmm... but also ready, right? That's good..." he murmured with a happy smile. He was obviously one of those people that enjoyed cooking so much that the very atmosphere of the activity seemed to brighten his mood. He leaned over and stirred the rice a few times before putting the wooden spoon down and stretching back. "It feels good to be in the kitchen..." he mumbled, more to himself than to Leif.

"Mm." Leif nodded around a carrot he'd decided to just bit down on. He'd been really hungry, so he saved a carrot from the cutting board so he could munch while things were cooking. He nearly resembled a fuzzy black rabbit, all big eyes and hair. To Leif, any place that had food in it felt good to be in.

Shadi giggled slightly at the other's appearance, covering his mouth with one pale hand - he didn't want to needlessly offend the other... that would be rude ((no, you think? xD )). "You should paint your nose black and then draw some of those little dot things on your cheeks... then you'd look just like a rabbit," he mumbled with a small grin.

"There were extras when I finished..." He said softly, with a bit of indignation. He took the carrot out of his mouth and pulled his hair back with one hand out of the way of one of his eyes.
"Bunnies are too cute anyway..."

Shadi frowned, paused, and then replied, "Well... you could be a hare, then. A scruffy old hare." The timer on the oven dinged and he jumped, turnign around in the same motion. He turned the heat off of the rice and the chicken and began to serve them onto the ready waiting plates. He grabbed a couple forks from a drawer and the opened the fridge again, perused his options, and finally selected a bottle of cranberry juice and poured some for himself. "Want something to drink?" he asked.

Leif scoffed and dropped his hair back into his blazing eyes. "I'm not old! You're just young." Leif went back to muncing his carrot, rather poutily if it could be noticed through the cloud of his usual demeanor.
"I'll have whatever that red stuff is. It smells good."
