Use to be a bass clarinet player. had to switch school systems where I was the first seventh grader to play bass clarinet before. now i am a ninth grader, missing band so much. WHY? Band director, that's WHY. Old BALDIE decided to call me irresponsible and childish even though I had to deal with the teases of the other two basses of which one was my 4th cousin. AND I AIN'T IRRESPONSIBLE IF I HAVE TO LUG A CASE UP A HILL DAY after DAY after DAY in the FREAKIN HOT SUN! I fell and hurt my knee while carrying the case, and it was hard for me to walk, but when I hurt my knee because I stepped in a WELL hidden pothole and was slammed to the ground (and so rudely passed by a person in chevy that just sped up as I attempted to get back up) WHAT DID I DO FIRST ? i checked on the bass clarinet,i practically treated it as if it was my own family. i had cried when he called me that ! i was so distraught that I told my mom that called the high school alerted them and the middle school. I would have dragged his sorry-excuse-for-a-band-director-butt to court if I would've had the heart. HE'S PRACTICALLY BRAIN-WASHED THE WHOLE BAND! I WAS ONLY IN THE BAND BECAUSE MY MOM WANTED ME TO BE! SHE WANTED ME TO BE HER ! WELL SOOORRRRY !

sorry...lost my cool there...but I was a former bass clarinet player(my life has just started to suck since I was forced to quit) and I still play clarinet.

Hello.*Kind of trys to shrink a little bit* Im a clarinetist at Lowell jr. high school. The only clarinet in my band. i really have to project to be heard by the audience. But ive been playing for 4 years. i was able to start in 5th grade. we are going to play for the lowell graduation on the 24th and the high school graduation on the 25th. I hate pomp and circumsize ( domokun ) because you have to play it over and over until all the seniors have sat down.(They move so slow. Move faster damn you!)Im kind of a shy little player, which makes my life difficult, since i have to project to be heard. Ive only been playing for 4 years so im nothing compared to any of you guys, but i can kick a** if you give me a good song. Like a james bond piece or something. James bond is fun to play. Im currently thinking about a carrer with Nasa as an astronaut, and maybe a little side carrer as a professional clarinetist. I love to play my calrinet and dont expect to ever give it up, ever. who knows, maybe I will be as good as you guys some day. sweatdrop

*pokes her fellow chalumeau-decendant instruments*

Hiiii. I'm Altiisimo. I got to Lake Gibson High School, in Pits-o-Hades-Only-Hotter, Florida (well, not really, but it feels like it right about now). I'm second chair in Wind Ensemble out of a section of 13 (26 in marching), and current section leader of my section for marching. I also sometimes play bass clarinet (even though I haven't in a long while), and attempt to play Eb clarinet every once in awhile; but, I've been told that it sounds like nails on a chalkboard, so I don't mess with that often. XD

I'm thinking about taking the school Alto Clarinet home over the summer to clean it up and play it, considering how it probably hasn't been seriously played in many years. Yes.

We have four or five bass clarinets in our band...only during concert season. During marching season, they usually play a regular clarinet.

Hello, I'm kinda new, but I play clarinet. Along with a lot of other things. But I started bass clarinet in the begining of this school year. (September) and I've been playing it ever since and I've worked my way up to 2nd (out of 3) Only our first chair bass clarinet has been playing clarinet since she was in 4th grade and shes a jr. In Ian. I bought my own sop clarinet so I would be able to practice at home without lugging home the monster as I call it. ^_^ But I've only been playing for 9 months. But I'm already playing a level 4 solo at the NYSMMA (sp?) festival coming up ^_^

Now i only play the Contra during concert season, the Marching with it kinda had me in the Chiropractors office by the end of marching season. And the best part about all this is I was only about 5"2' at the time and the thing was almost taller then me!! Im in Sherando High School in Virgina if anyone wanted to know!
