The seconds continued to tick by. Tristen stood at his position on the battlefield, his confusion abound. Didn’t Matteo want to battle at all? Just to show at the very least his supposed arbitrary superiority over the Manetric hybrid? Or did he turn tail finding it not worth it? Maybe he’s still stuck trying to get his Pokémon’s injuries taken care of? Frankly, it could be anything, but it doesn’t change the fact that the clock was ticking and it was starting to look like Ms. Dendra was going to hand the match over to Tristen by default. A rather sombering, anti-climatic end to what was supposed to hopefully resolve this whole incident.

Tristen then perked up, looking over towards the bleachers, hearing a new commotion start and it was only in that instant where he watched Matteo blaze a trail onto the battlefield, skidding to a stop. “…..” While everyone else was excited over Matteo’s flashy appearance, Tristen wasn’t necessarily impressed. Tristen could still keep up with watching him at that speed. At least Matteo wasn’t dry-heaving in front of everyone at the moment. Seeing him send out Killowatrell, Tristen took a deep breath, but then something he noticed just now. Did that flying Pokémon always have that Magnet? Tristen wasn’t fully certain. Killowattrel was front and center for all of Matteo’s battles and he never really noticed it on him until now.

“Alright, Rampardos! Get to it!” Tristen called out. Once again, the Pokémon’s ball was tossed out and in a burst of light, out came Rampardos once more.

“Baaaa-wa!” Rampardos roared out, smashing his head into the ground once more, getting fired up for his next battle. Rampardos then stopped once Matteo made his attack call. The dinosaur looked at the battlefield about it, staring in confusion. Tristen stared in confusion. An Electric Terrain? To further his Pokémon’s electric attacks, chances are. He probably was going to try to keep Killowattrel away as much as he could. He probably knows that Rock Slide was not going to allow Killowattrel to have a good day. As Tristen started to plan, he made the command…

“Rock Slide!” Tristen shouted.

“Ba-WAA!” Rampardos roared out, smashing the battlefield with his head, kicking up all manner of rock and rubble towards the Killowattrel.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 07, 2024 10:35 am

Matteo didn't flinch as Tristen commanded his dinosaur to sling rocks at his bird, instead he immediately turned to his winged comrade and gave it an order. "Close in and use Thunder!" He instructed his Kilowattrel. Was he actually asking his bird to rush headlong into a Super Effective move like Rock Slide!?

With a screech Kilowattrel and begin to dart towards Rampardos, flying through the shower of rocks and expertly dodging and rolling out of the way of the incoming earth, showing off its impressive speed and reflexes. While Rock Slide was a far reaching move it was possible to avoid the stones and Kilowattrel was doing just that. Electricity was built up in the bird's body as it made its way for Rampardos, the electricity on the ground dancing wildly and the Magnet glowing as Kilowattrel charged up its attack.

Closer and closer the bird got to Rampardos and for a second it looked like it would avoid the entirety of the Rock Slide but once it got just a couple of yards away from the dinosaur one of the rocks clipped its wing and sent the bird into a spiral. It looked like that was it, its proverbial suicide bomb would end in failure as one large work and Kilowattrel were on a collision course with each other however at the least moment the bird pulled up and unleashed its charged up electricity bringing forth a Thunder straight down upon the fossil Pokemon before it.

"Kilooo..." Whined Kilowattrel as it struggled to stay airborne. While it managed to avoid the worse of the Rock Slide its wing was injured and because of that it made it more difficult to fly, no doubt harming its speed and reflexes, however Matteo was basking in the glow of the successful suicidal Thunder they just brought down on Tristen's Pokemon. Was it a risky move? Yes, but Matteo was only concerned about it succeeding.

“Wait, what?” Tristen asked. If nothing else, he would have expected Matteo to back off. Didn’t he know the kind of assault power Rampardos had between its abilities and the Life Orb empowering him? As the rocks continued to rain down, Tristen started to see just why Matteo decided to make such a risky maneuver. This bird was a lot more agile than he originally given it credit for. Skillfully weaving about the manner of rock and debris that was getting kicked up from Rampardos’ rampage on the battlefield. Despite getting clipped a couple of times by the rocks, the Killowattrel managed to close the gap.

“Rampardos! Look out!”

“BA!?” Rampardos stopped his Rock Slide attack, looking up just in time to see the bird unleash all manner of havoc. The bolts of lightning started to crash down. The lightning corralling the dinosaur then a massive bolt crashing down right on top of Rampardos. Rampardos roared out in pain as the electricity surged from dome to toes. A brutal strike with all considered.

“Rampardos!” When the attack ended. Rampardos staggered a couple of steps forward, trying to prevent himself from falling over. Rampardos was feeling rather cooked from the harsh lightning strike. It was breathing heavily; the damage all too apparent. Tristen wasn’t sure if that was a combination of the terrain and the Magnet on the Killowattrel or if the bird actually had a lot of electricity to go around, but whatever the case, that wasn’t something Rampardos needed to experience again. “Rampardos, can you keep going?”

Rampardos took just a second, but then once again smashed his head into the ground and roared out defiantly towards the bird. This dino was in fact a little crazy. All the same, Tristen knew just as much as Rampardos knew…this bird had to be taken out. “Alright, Rampardos, let’s give it a go.” Tristen said. “Rampardos! Crunch attack!”

“BA-WA!” The Rampardos started to sprint as fast as it could then gave a hard leap. Jaws open wide ready to clamp down on a bird.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 07, 2024 12:34 pm

Rampardos would leap up and snatch up Kilowattrel in its jaws, the Dark energy seeping into the bird's body as the dinosaur's fangs clamped down. The Kilowattrel would screech as Rampardos slung it around in its jaws and eventually tossed it to the side, the feathered Pokemon discarded onto the ground unceremoniously. Kilowattrel fainted. As the bird fell some students cheered in celebration for Tristen while others gasped and murmured over the powerful Kilowattrel going down so fast. Matteo had played fast and loose with his bird this whole tournament and now such strategies were no longer working.

With a scowl at Tristen he recalled his Pokemon, tucking the ball away before bringing out another to replace it. "Tauros, hit it with a Body Press!" Matteo commanded as he tossed the ball out, not waiting for his Pokemon to appear before giving the order.

The ball would bounce off the ground and from it would come out Matteo's Paldean Tauros, Blaze Breed to be specific. The bull would come charging out of the ball and let out a moo as it rushed towards Rampardos, its body glowing with Fighting energy and some sort of berry hanging from a necklace it was wearing. Was that a Sitrus Berry? The Wild Bull Pokemon would then ram into Rampardos shoulder first and unleashed its built up Fighting energy in the same moment as it executed its Body Press.

With the Killowattrel down, Tristen felt at the very least Mienshao was safe from the bird. Rampardos roared out once more, a victory screech for the dino. Despite getting harshly electrocuted, Rampardos was ready to go for another round. It wasn’t going to be put by the wayside again as far as he was concerned. That said, it was going to be easier said once Matteo sent out his next Pokémon. It was the weird, bulky Tauros again. He only saw a little of what this thing could do and it wasn’t really enough to make any sort of assessment out of it. Apart from it being a Fire type, he had to treat this as just another unknown Pokémon in his case.

The attack call out of Matteo suddenly left Tristen’s heart rapidly sink into his stomach. A Body Press? That wasn’t good. Rampardos feeling confident or no, that wasn’t going to end well. The second that the bull hit the field and stormed off on Matteo’s command, Tristen responded. “Rampardos! Endeavor!” Tristen shouted to his Pokémon. The best thing he could think of doing is try to challenge the attack, albeit a bit smarter than what Matteo did with Kilowattrel. Best case scenario, it’d punish Matteo for going in so recklessly against Rampardos as he did before and Tristen had to go for it before Rampardos wasn’t able to even do that much in this fight.

“BA-WA!” Rampardos roared, storming off towards the rampaging bull. Rampardos went out and lunged at the bull, but the thing that Tristen didn’t count on was just how hardy this bull was. Rampardos couldn’t get a clean blow with his attack, being completely overtaken by the Body Press and getting slammed hard onto the ground, practically flattened by the bulky bull. Tristen found himself underestimating just what kind of assault power that thing had. He knew the normal Tauros were pretty hardy, but perhaps these kind one ups them a bit. Rampardos laid there, unmoving. He was done this battle.

“Sorry, Rampardos. That’s on me. Come back!” Tristen said, recalling the fallen dino. As he stashed the ball and went to get his next one. Tristen started to notice the Sitrus Berry on the bull. Tristen started to realize that this thing was being set up to take a lot of punishment. But odd enough, just as with the Killowattrel, he didn’t notice the berry on the Tauros until now either. Tristen once again couldn’t help but to shake his head on the matter. He couldn’t go out of the way to accuse any wrong doing as of yet. He had no evidence. Still though, this made Mienshao’s job a bit more difficult. Tristen almost thought about just immediately going about a Retaliate attack, just as he did before, but that would probably open up Mienshao to a world of hurt even if he landed the powerful blow. Knock Off probably wasn’t going to do as much as Tristen would hope, and probably would just agitate the bull further more. Tristen had to play this smart…

“Mienshao! Go!” He then shouted, tossing out the Pokeball. In a flash, once again, the Martial Arts Pokémon appeared on the battlefield.

“Me-shooo!” It howled out, assuming its fighting stance.

“Fake Out!” Tristen shouted.

Mienshao started to rush towards the bull, quickly juking about the field to keep the bull off his mark until finally, the Mienshao moved in, leaping up and slapped the bull between the eyes.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 09, 2024 1:12 pm

The Tauros attempt to visually follow Mienshao as it moved around, the Wild Bull Pokemon snorting as it kept repositioning itself to point in its foe's direction. Tauros however wouldn't be able to keep up with the much quicker Pokemon and would let out a confused 'moo' as it was slapped between the eyes, less harmed by the attack and more confused, and then insulted, instead. Tauros flinched!

Looking around dazed and befuddled it turned to its trainer for instructions on what it was suppose to do in this situation. Matteo just sighed. "...annoying..." He commented as his lip trembled a bit. "Snap out of it and use Raging Bull!" The boy said, issuing the command to his bovine companion.

Once Tauros managed to shake off the flinching, which no doubt would come after Mienshao's next move and thus Tauros would be retaliating, it would stamp its feet and begin to charge straight for Mienshao, snorting angrily with its horns lowered as it aimed to skewer its foe with them. As the bull charged it would literally whip itself into a frenzy as its tails lashed its back, flames beginning to build up and around its horns as its anger peaked. Before long Mienshao would be staring down a very angry charging flaming bull.

(You can detail two moves in your next post, the one after the flinch and the one after Raging Bull. Just didn't see a need to make a separate post to say 'Tauros flinch'.)

Springing off the back of the Tauros after the Fake Out, the Mienshao flip and landed nearby the bull, quickly pivoting and getting ready. Mienshao knew what was about to come next. “High Jump Kick!” Mienshao quickly sprinted from his position and then thrusted himself right into the side of the bull. Everyone earlier took note that the move had to come with extreme force if it managed to fling a Probopass a little ways. Everyone would then get a bit more context once Mienshao drives his foot into the angry bull and drives it down the field. Tristen was feeling a bit more confident; that bull couldn’t possibly be feeling good from such a strike. But then as the bull managed to get back on his feet. Tristen started to realize that bulk wasn’t just for show. That mountain of muscle and rage was resilient, and it was going to be put to use.

Tristen caught himself a little off guard from Matteo’s attack command, for once again an attack that Tristen knew nothing of. The bull started to charge towards Mienshao, setting itself ablaze as it barreled towards Mienshao. This seemed a lot fiercer than say a Flame Wheel attack or anything of that sort. Maybe coming close to say something akin to a Flare Blitz. Regardless, it was nothing that he wanted to get Mienshao caught up in. “What the-Mienshao! Get out of the way!” Tristen shouted. Mienshao would quickly dive out of the way from the attack for the time being, but the bull would quickly turn around and come back for another pass. “Mienshao! Here he comes again!” he shouted.

The Mienshao scrambled back to his feet as the bull went for another burning pass. Once again, Mienshao gets out of the way, but the bull this time made his turn sooner, sharper. Gearing his head low, trying to keep his target well within sights. Just as with any matador, there was only one objective…to make the target take the horns. The bull, still ablaze started to throw his head down turning around, giving Mienshao little opportunity to dodge any longer and managed to scoop up Mienshao and send him on a burning flight. Mienshao would howl out in pain on the way up and back down until he made impact with the ground.

“Mienshao!” Mienshao managed to turn over and get back on his feet, singed and wasn’t feeling the greatest after that attack. That Raging bull attack was brutal, bar none. “Mienshao, can you keep going!?”

“Sho!” Mienshao shouted back. It was still good to go another clash or two...maybe. Tristen wasn’t sure on that, so he had to make the next couple of attacks count.

“MIenshao! Get going!” He shouted. Mienshao quickly rushed for the bull. “Force Palm!” Tristen shouted. Mienshao, with the bull charging him once more leaped up and got on the back of the bull, manifesting his fighting prowess in the palm of his hand and then thrusted it down into the back of the Paldean Tauros.

The Tauros tanked the Hi Jump Kick, the blow still doing a good bit of damage however the bull proved to be a lot tankier than its Kantonian counterpart. After scooping up and flinging its foe the bovine made another turn and attempted another pass at the Mienshao, completely fueled by fiery rage at this point. The Tauros would attempt another swipe however the stoat was ready this time and managed to leap up and over the bull's head and land on its back. Immediately the angry Tauros came to a stop and began to buck and attempt to lash the Mienshao with its tails but alas the opposing Fighting type got its hit in first as the Tauros took a Force Palm directly to the back, the crowd letting out a pained gasp along with the bull.

With a whine the bull fell to the ground, its knees giving out as the searing pain of the Force Palm flowed through its body. For a moment there it looked like that was it, Matteo grimacing as he thought his Pokemon was already down for the count, even Ms. Dendra twitching a bit as if she was ready to call it however the bull would prove them all wrong as it extended its tongue and lapped up the berry hanging from its neck. "Taaauuur!" Bellowed the bovine as it jumped back onto its feet, healed by its Sitrus Berry. It wasn't done yet, much to Matteo's relief.

"Enough of this, finish it off with a Zen Headbutt." Matteo scowled, revealing he had a super effective move for Mienshao this whole time. Was he just playing with Tristen or something? Was Matteo really that arrogant? Was it a way to mock Tristen? Even the gathered students were questioning why he didn't call for a Zen Headbutt instead of a Raging Bull. Whatever it was the bull would let out a 'moo' and began to charge head long towards Mienshao, its horns giving off a pink glow as Psychic sparks of energy flickered from its cranium.

Slamming its Force Palm down as Mienshao did, Tristen wanted to believe that perhaps that he finally got this bull wrangled and taken down. Mienshao would quickly leap off the back of the bull once the livid bovine was brought to his knees. Tristen quickly then however saw that it was too soon to relax now. The Sitrus Berry. Tristen at first didn’t give it too much mind at first, but now it started to look as if it was going to be oh too relevant in this battle. “Mienshao! Its not over yet!” Mienshao turned around, seeing the Tauros manage to get back on his feet. The Marital Arts Pokémon quickly got back into a fighting stance and as the Paldean Tauros started to square off with him, the bull ready to go at least one more go with Mienshao.

Tristen then was caught by surprise by Matteo’s attack call. A Zen Headbutt? Did he just now figure out that Mienshao was a Fighting type? Or did he think it wasn’t necessary? If he truly didn’t know, then maybe it was understandable…sort of. Barring the fact that Mienshao was almost a one Pokémon show for Tristen’s team this entire time and showed off more than a couple of fighting type attacks. If it was the latter, Tristen could only wonder what in the world could Matteo have been thinking this entire time? Even after all this time during this tournament, Matteo didn’t think Tristen was that high of a threat to warrant a super effective attack at least? Whatever the case, now with a oncoming Psychic attack coming towards Mienshao and how relentless this bull has been, Tristen doubted that he could keep Mienshao on the defensive for long. The only thing he could do was try to challenge the attack…

“Mienshao! Close Combat!” Tristen then commanded. Mienshao quickly rushed for the bull as the bull lowered its head to finally bring Mienshao’s story to a close in this battle. Mienshao then leaped in, practically slamming itself into the bull’s attack. Mienshao wailed out, the psychic power rocking the fighting Pokémon, but Mienshao wasn’t going down as of yet if it could help it. As the psychic power continued to wreck havoc, Mienshao tried to repay in kind, wailing away on the bull’s head. If Mienshao was going to go down…something was coming with him if Mienshao could help it.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 11, 2024 5:51 pm

Mienshao and Tauros would clash with one another, the bull's forehead connecting with one of the stoat's fists, an explosion of purple Psychic energy and orange Fighting energy erupting from the contact point, sparks of these colors flickering in the air and an invisible shock wave which would sweep the field. Matteo remained stalwart and unflinching as the shock wave washed over him and blew his fur a bit, the boy staying focused on the battle at hand.

As Mienshao swung a fist Tauros would swing a horn to meet it, this clash of fist and foot with horn would occur over and over again, each clash resulting in a small spark of energy. The blow-for-blow match would last for what felt like minutes but was less than a single one, neither one of them appearing to get the upper hand on the other however Mienshao was no doubt taking more damage, the adrenaline provided by Close Combat keeping it going. Eventually Tauros would find an opening as the other Fighting type started to falter and would headbutt the Mienshao with its forehead and a final burst of Psychic energy. In that same motion it would scoop it up with a horn and toss the stoat to the side.

Looking haggard and beaten down the Tauros snorted at the Mienshao on the ground, daring it to get back up as its own legs started to tremble, as if the bull was trying its hardest to stay conscious. Matteo looked concerned as he, like others watching, was worried his Tauros was about to succumb to the wounds suffered from the Close Combat, that was until he watched his bull regurgitate and begin to chew something. Looks like he built his bull to be more defensive than Tristen originally thought, it even had Cud Chew as an ability.

"Tauuur!" Mooed the bull in defiance as once again it bounced back from the edge of defeat, its knees stronger and its posture more combative as it rose its head high, ready to continue this fight.

"So, is that it? Come on, show us your last Pokemon, the one you've been so worried about showing off this entire time. I mean, I'll admit your lizard and weasel things were strong but I take it the mysterious number three is not one of your best. Why else refuse to use it?" Matteo called out to Tristen, trying to crack wise as he finally directly spoke to Tristen in this battle. He was assuming that the real reason why Tristen hadn't used his third Pokemon this entire tournament was because it just wasn't as strong as his other two. The boy was in for a rude awakening. "I guess the rumors were wrong after all."

Not even Close Combat was enough to put down the bull, despite Mienshao’s best efforts and much to Tristen’s chagrin. This bull was built like a tank and worse, apparently the Tauros was getting double duty with that Sitrus Berry. Tristen started to regret not using Knock Off on the bull, even though it wasn’t going to cause much damage either way. He looked over towards his Mienshao, despite wanting to get back up, was unable too. That last hurrah with the Close Combat took its toll, especially with it taking a Zen Headbutt, effectively taking the bull on by the horns. Tristen couldn’t ask any more of Mienshao. He did enough this battle. He did a lot this tournament. Tristen was ever grateful, as he usually is to his Pokémon, but Mienshao more than earned his keep. Tristen solemly would recall his fallen Pokémon back to his Pokeball for a deserved rest.

Tristen perked up, hearing Matteo’s goading. “Wha…you…you actually think that Mienshao or Rampardos were my best Pokémon?” Tristen asked. That resonated with Tristen just then. Tristen for the most part didn’t want to release his last Pokémon namely to keep Nemona guessing at this point. Otherwise, he didn’t want to give Matteo any excuses as to why he was ultimately going to lose the battle. But frankly? This…this felt right. “Don’t get me wrong, Matteo…Mienshao and Rampardos are great. Too good, even. Got me out of a few scrapes here and there. But they’re not the best I got. And even then, yea, the rumors are wrong. I’m not really that good. Just as I always said I have been the past few days, even though you wouldn't listen…but really, Matteo? You’re not as good as you think you are either...” He said, taking out his final Pokeball, intent on showing just how powerless Matteo truly was. “GO!”

Tristen would toss out the Pokeball and out in the air, the ball pops open and in a flash out came the final desired Pokémon out of Matteo. “Arrrro!” Dragonite howled out, there on the field before everyone. Teachers, Students, and most of all Matteo and soon-to-be T-bone steak. Dragonite, Pokémon number three and, for all intents, Tristen’s ace Pokémon, for better or worse. Little did Matteo know of Dragonite’s and Tristen’s history. Something that Tristen intended on keeping under wraps. The dragon, while not mobile on the ground, was still rather agile with its capabilities of flight. It was the hardiest of Tristen’s entire entourage, able to take a lot of punishment. Between its Multiscale traits plus, as everyone could see, the Assault Vest that Tristen bestowed to the Pokémon for this tournament. Worse still, unlike Mienshao and Rampardos, Dragonite could do more specialized attacks as well as it could do physical ones, rounding out Tristen’s party to be a force to be reckoned with.

Dragonite would touch down on the ground, looking at the back bull before it. “Hey Dragonite.” Tristen spoke up to his dragon. The draconid looked back towards Tristen out the corner of his eye. “Remember what we talked about last night?”

“Aro?”

“That’s him.” Tristen then said. Dragonite looked back towards the Growlithe hybrid, a sagely look from the dragon. One as if he was being judged. “Alright, Dragonite! Let’s go! Hurricane!” He then shouted.

“ARRRO!” Dragonite kicked off the ground and summoned a mighty gale upon the battlefield, sending it towards the bull.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 12, 2024 9:04 pm

Matteo's eyes went wide as the dragon materialized from the Pokeball, the boy staring in stunned silence, his mouth gaping just over so slightly. While Matteo was quiet the entire gathered student body gasped, the sound of numerous students jumping to the feet and moving around in general, the metal bleachers ringing out. Even Ms. Dendra appeared surprised, that is pleasantly surprised as she smirked. Tauros however was unimpressed, having never seen such a beast before and was ignorant of what it was and what it could do so it did what it normally does when staring down a foe and snorted at it while stomping on the ground to intimidate. It was about to learn a painful lesson.

The Growlithe hybrid would do nothing as Tristen called out the command, still too stunned to do anything besides stare. The students however all sat down and braced themselves, Tauros looking back at its trainer and confused, waiting for instruction that would never come.

As the Hurricane went off and swept the field the Tauros whipped its head back around to look at the Dragonite just in time to see the oncoming attack, the bovine swept clean off its feet. The bull would then be forced to ride the gale as it flew up high into the sky, flipped over, almost hit the ground but got swept up again before being brought back up high and then without warning the bull was let go and gravity did the rest as the Paldean Tauros fell to the ground with a devastating thud. It was hard to say when the bull was knocked out, perhaps while it was still in the air, either way Tauros has fainted.

"But...how...?" Matteo managed to utter, fumbling around for Tauros' ball while still staring at the Dragon Pokemon. "HOW!?" Matteo roared after finally snapping back to reality, aggressively sticking the Pokeball and recalling his Pokemon and then jamming it back into his pocket. "How did you get that!? Where!? Who gave that to you!? That can't be yours!" He continued to shout at Tristen, the boy looking like he was fighting back tears, angry tears, as he looked for his last Pokeball.

"Gah! Whatever! I have my own dragon! I'll beat you at your own game!" He barked as he spiked his last Pokeball onto the ground, the ball bouncing off the dirt and releasing from its confines a Shelgon. "Use Dragon Claw!" Matteo ordered.

"...shel..." The Endurance Pokemon uttered, as if scoffing at Matteo, the boy perking up and looking around embarrassed as the students began to talk. Oh no, it was happening again.

"Come on! Use Dragon Claw!" He commanded again, Shelgon now looking back at Matteo and growling, the boy recoiling back in fear of the dragon. He would then find a little bit more courage to issue the order again. "Shelgon, use Dragon Claw!" He repeated.

Shelgon would finally have enough of Matteo's commands and let out an angry roar before stomping on the ground wildly. The dragon would then begin to whip around wildly, looking at all the people around it and growled, as if looking for a target of its wrath. It would then lock eyes with Dragonite and let out the biggest roar yet, before an explosion of draconic energy appeared around it and the shelled dragon launched itself off the ground and sent itself on a reckless collision course with Dragonite as it executed an Outrage.

"W-what...?" Was all Matteo could say as he watched his Pokemon.

With the bull finally taken out of commission, Dragonite once again touched down on the field. “Thanks, Dragonite. That Tauros was really tough. Managed to get one over on Mienshao. We still got another one to go. Get ready, okay?”

“Aro.” The Dragonite replied back. The two of then then perked up once Matteo made it very apparent his composure has completely snapped, practically going through a couple of stages of the five steps of grief right before him in all of five seconds. Anger, depression, and denial, being most apparent. If everyone in this student body didn’t already think poor of Matteo at this point before Tristen’s arrival at this academy, this probably just exposed him for every bit of a person that he truly was. Tristen and Dragonite couldn’t help but to stare, eyebrow raised at him as the Growlithe hybrid ranted, trying to come to terms with the fact that Tristen had a mighty dragon ready to mop his team up.

But then…a dragon? Matteo has his own? Fela stated that he didn’t have anything that could take on Dragonite. A dragon clash could potentially go either way. But then, he would see what Fela had meant the entire time. A Shelgon. And not just any Shelgon, mind…one that apparently didn’t have any sort of care for his trainer and Matteo backing off gave the vibe that he was actually scared of him. The disobeying of the Dragon Claw command and going for an Outrage instead just continued to show Matteo’s colors in front of everyone. As the Shelgon came in to lash out, Dragonite braced himself. The Shelgon would crash into the Dragonite, but Dragonite held on tight, wincing a bit as Shelgon thrashed away. Tristen was agitated at what he was seeing, but just as much, he could only feel pity. This was absolutely pathetic. “Mysterious number three not being your best, because why else would you not want to send it out, huh Matteo?” Tristen quoted almost verbatim to his opponent. As far as what Tristen was concerned, it was perhaps a good thing this thing was a Shelgon and not its more volatile evolved state. Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be Matteo in a really piss poor state.

“Dragonite! Show him a Dragon Claw!” Dragonite threw the thrashing Shelgon aside then lit up his own claws with draconic power. He then quickly rushed for the Shelgon and gave a mighty draconian swipe.

Dragonite would slash out at Shelgon, racking its claws against the rampaging shelled dragon, the Endurance Pokemon let out a pained roar and recoiling back in pain. Matteo flinched as he watched his dragon suffer the blow, Tristen's words taking a minute to sink in but once they did he turned his gaze back towards the boy and slightly snarled at him. "Agh! You're so perfect, don't you!?" He shouted back at Tristen, infuriated that the other hybrid turned his own words back on him. "You're not! You're not, you're not, you're not!" He whined.

Looking back at his Shelgon he watched as it regained its footing and began to growl at the Dragonite. Thinking that maybe his Pokemon had regained its composure he called out to it, hoping to give it instructions. "Keep your distance and use Dragon Breath!" He commanded his Pokemon.

Two seconds would go by after the command, the Shelgon staring at Dragonite all the while but doing little else than growl. Matteo might be hopeful that his Pokemon would obey but the young boy was foolish to think so, Shelgon had already succumbed to its rage. "Gooon!" Shelgon roared before rushing towards Dragonite, flailing its claws at the much bigger dragon.

"No! Shelgon, stop!" Young Matteo shouted, fists clinched as he watched all his hard work to get to this point be for nothing. Part of him knew this was over, the moment Dragonite came out he had lost but it didn't mean he liked it.

“I never said that I was.” Tristen said to Matteo. “And I wouldn’t dream of it either.” Matteo’s psyche continues to deteriorate in front of everyone, which rather if he realizes it or not, is an outright embarrassment. His Pokémon is constantly disobeying him and Dragonite was just keeping the Shelgon at a distance, rather playfully at that. Every time the Shelgon tried to lash out, Dragonite leaped back using his gift of flight. At one point, Dragonite actually swooped around and landed on the back of the Shelgon, balancing on its back as if this was a circus act instead of a Pokémon battle, and the Shelgon was a large ball. All in all, this was hopefully hammering it to Matteo that his disobedient, rampaging dragon was borderline not a threat to the more experienced dragon. Tristen could maybe overhear the chatter and the laughter over the ‘show’ presented to everyone. This was Matteo’s humiliation…mission accomplished.

“Pokémon tend to be a reflection of their trainers and their skills, Matteo…and they depend on you as you depend on them.” Tristen said to him, his experience starting to show. Those lessons in the Snagem training room coming to form. “Shelgon is practically saying that you’re not even worth the time, just as you seemed to have done to everyone, even me, over the past few days. Just look at him! Back to the wall and still won’t listen! Too prideful for his own good! I could have maybe helped you just as you were about to help me with Agility…heck, I wouldn’t have bothered with this tournament, you know? But you decided that you were going to be a massive jerk and let a stupid rumor get the better of you when all I wanted to do was to make friends, even to you. You kept going with some stupid definition of ‘being better’ and ignored all the ways to ‘be better’ in all the ways that mattered apart from just having the stronger Pokémon or to be faster for example, and no one wanted to tell you to stop. So, here I am…telling you to stop. Dragonite!”

Dragonite kicked off and rocketed towards the skies, away from the Shelgon. It only took a couple of seconds before Dragonite looked down towards the battlefield. “Nowhere to run…Dragonite! Hyper Beam!” Tristen commanded.

“ARRRRRO!” Dragonite roared out. A harsh light formed in the skies, a spectacle for all to see at first, until the powerful beam was fired and went crashing down towards the Shelgon to put a rather destructive end to the fight. Tristen took no joy in making the command, still feeling a bit agitated himself, though his demeanor wasn't going to show it. He was hoping when Dragonite was making an act of Shelgon, Matteo would have conceded, but just as it was aptly touched on, perhaps Matteo was too prideful to do so. Perhaps an act of defiance. Who knows? It didn't matter. Tristen was ending this one way or another.
