It was almost... fun. It was like playing, this task of gathering fragments. It was curious by himself, and yet with someone else, this other shadow, it was fun.
The shadow scrambled to his feet yet again, and ran down the crumbling road after another fragment. He ducked into an old and crumbling building, moss soft under his feet. He almost lost sight of it, but then there it was!
He grabbed the little shining light before it could escape, holding it close with the others as he stood inside the darkness. Words whispered to him, soft in tone, but it was the shards that held his attention. They were so bright, was that what his form was going to be like? The shadow looked up to see if the other was still following, did he see how pretty the fragments were?

"Of course I care. You're important to Yearning, so you're important to me," she informed the fragment, then blinked as a small shadow tore past her. "Hey! Hey, you're fast!" she called after it, startled. Fast was a new thing. She had never met another shadow that was fast.

The wayfinders were not as gentle as Ginj thought, the little comets that dashed through the air like shooting stars around the pillars, the shadwos cast varied with each passing moment. "On the plus side, its never hard to really find them, just follow the lights." he said perkilly to himself as he began to job around chasing the little gems into a corner and flicking a wrist out to snatch.
"Let that needle go!"
They parted like butterflies at the motion and again they were to the wind, free and away from harm.
Its hard to believe that they are sentient at times.

Thiamas was indeed watching, and following as well, hands dropping back to his sides as he scampered after the other shadow, eager to see if he could capture another glowing fragment from the air.
When he darted into the building, Thiamas slowed down, head ducking and cocking to the side. Was it safe? Was the other okay? He crept forward and peered inside.
The other shadow had grabbed another shard, and was indeed quite safe, or so it appeared. That made him happy as well, and he bounced a little on his heels, nodding his head in approval before turning to dart off himself in pursuit of yet another fragment.
Feet slapped against mossy cobblestones as he chased one of the free floating crystals, eyes locked on it. At some point he hit a bit of moisture, the rocks becoming slippery, and he began to slide, flailing his arms slightly, something at his back seeming to mood and give him balance so that he could keep going. He didn't know what it was, and paid it little mind, too focused on what needed to be done.
The jump he took this time sent him fairly sailing through the air, at a height that broke the record for what he was able to accomplish before. The crystal was snagged as he flew through the air, but then as he began to fall, he felt the flickering of something, almost like panic.
He landed on his feet, but those feet slid, and he ended up flopping on his stomach, but the crystal was held on to tight.
He rolled to his back with a soft groan, and for some reason hoped that the other shadow had not witnessed his folly.
But he had five now. "Fünf." He whispered, holding the crystals close to his chest.

The other shadow followed close, and yet... failed to keep his footing on the same slippery rocks. A strange yelp emerged from his throat as he skidded, taking his second tumble since arriving in this place with the ruins and waterfalls.
He missed the other shadow's fall as he got to his feet and brushed off the dust. When he looked up it was already done, his companion had caught the last of his five fragments, and they shone brighter than anything!
The little one leaned close to look at his lucky friend's treasures, and then glanced down at his own. He only needed one more himself, and then they could go to the shrine and get their forms! He looked around, and spotting something drifting down the walk he got up and ran after it.

Thiamas scrambled up to his feet, still gripping his crystals tight. He needed to take them to the goddess for offering but felt like before he could do so he could see that the other shadowy form, the small one that seemed similar in size to himself, get all of his fragments as well. They could travel to the shrine together! That seemed like a splendid idea~
And so he followed the other shadow, smiling in a way that felt very natural now, much more natural then it had been before. He was learning, learning emotions, learning expressions, and very slowly learning words, even if nobody understood the words he wished to speak. If the other shadow looked for him, he would nod and bounce encouragingly.
Soon.
Soon.
They could both have a form soon.

The fragment led the little shadow back in the direction he had come. And that's when he saw it. Another shadow, like himself and his companion. He had run right past it earlier, and had hardly noticed it before he was slipping and sliding on the rocks. It had... called out, now that he thought back to it.
Temporarily abandoning the fragment in favour of his curiosity, the little shadow hesitantly reached out to touch the new one, just like it had done for his current companion. Was this one trying to get a form too?
The top of his shadowy head made a motion, and then he darted off in search of that last crystal. Would they both follow him? He zipped down the walk, and splashed back into the little creek he had found earlier, and that was where he caught the last fragment he needed.
Once again, the little shadow quivered with happiness.

The one known as Kaje entered the realm, a hand pressed against once of the marble pillars as he surveyed his surroundings. The roar of the waterfall was deafening, and he flinched as he felt sprays of water touch his skin.
Taking care as he stepped through the rubble, he stood, staring out through the water, out towards the horizon through the cliffs. A hand pressed against his chest, feeling the warmth of his heart, his core. What was it he was looking for? He didn't know, but here, he hoped he would find some answers, if not to everything, at least enough to help him figure out what he was doing here. Completing tasks, serving the goddesses, surely there was more?
A faint glow caught his attention, and he turned to see a small crystal, floating a few feet from him, emitting a soft gray light. He reached out, hesitating as the fragment wavered, and grabbed it, pulling it towards him. What was this thing?
Eyes widened as he heard a voice, unfamiliar, yet familiar at the same time.
"You're joking."
A curious stare. Was it... mocking him? Yet, the warmth he felt was... Was this what he was searching for?
He needed to find another.

Naian blinked as she was tapped by the fast shadow, then giggled as it zipped away. She did not follow, but she did watch. There was such a sense of happiness to its movements. She put one hand over the pale light of her heart.

Arriving at the new location, Rein took in her surroundings with a look of interest. She wanted to explore everything she could. Having been a part of the fog for so long, she was now free to do as she pleased. A small object in the distance caught her attention, as she moved to approach it. Blinking, she reached out to grab it, only to have it evade her grasp and disappear from view. These.. fragments, what were they?

He found another, as he clutched this one, soaking in the warmth, he listened for more words.
"I can... see that."
Was it... responding to him? It was a different voice, a fragment of a different memory, but he couldn't remember, and they made no sense whatsoever.
A sigh, and he tried to find another, hopefully one that would make more sense.

After an arduous battle, she began looking for the final piece of light before she had to go to the shrine. She looked around on the floor for ones that were easy to pick up. Lo' and behold, there was one. A faint piece of light sitting between two pieces of rock. She headed over and tried to pull it out of it's resting place. This one required more effort than the last few but she wiggled it out in no time. Now she had five shards and was ready to go to the shrine.
