 Well, this doesn't go for Pandora, but when I'm exploring new songs, I'll give maybe 15 sec in the beginning, then scan to about 1/3 of the way through a song, then the middle, then the end to see if I like it. If it seems decent in the first 15 sec though I'll just let it play. Normally do this when I'm looking at a lot of songs by 1 artist or looking through an album.
