The kiss was sweet and warm. A warmth Juunikyuu had not felt for many decades and it engulfed her. She lingered, eyes shut as she smiled into the kiss at his words and pulled away slowly, her tears stopping whilst a few sobs still hicupped from her chest. The smile remained. Her own sweet and gentle smile that she had not truly worn since the day she had learnt of his death.
And then a sigh. A great long sigh full of relief as she relaxed, leaning her forehead against his as she smiled, shaking her head slightly in disbelief, twitsing her body so she could lift her hands to wrap around him to pull herself close to his chest. And there she stayed, listening to his heart beat within his chest and the sound of his breath. The two scars on his back glistened slightly but they caused her no pain. It was like everything had been washed away to reveal what had always been beneath.
Finally she spoke.
"I found you..."

The kiss was better than he could have remembered. He held her close against him, her smile warming him like nothing else could. His right hand gently rose up to her face, as softly as possible wiping th tears from her eyes. He could feel those last few sobs, fading away, and see that beautiful smile that had spread across her lips. It just looked right.
He accommodated her turning, letting her wrap around him and returning the embrace. His resting just below the scars on her back, taking note of them but deciding against any questions, at least right now.
That sigh of relief, and the sight of her pain wafting way replaced with the Juuni he knew before he had left, it was enough to relieve a few of those doubts he had about the monster he felt he had become. No one would ever get this close to a monster. And while doubts remained about his feelings, about so many things, for the moment they were silenced. Only this mattered.
Her gentle words placed the widest smile on his face. And he nodded, though he knew she couldnt see.
Yes...yes, you did...
And he squeezed her just a bit closer.

Slowly Juunikyuu seemed to regain herself and she sniffed loudly, inhaling his intoxicating scent as she sat up, looking him in the eyes and lifting her right hand to trace gently over his features. Her hand still shook and she swallowed hard as she stroked the skin on his cheek, feeling the warmth he eminated, not like the cold before. But even if he had been cold, she'd still have loved him. Just like before. She had never stopped loving him and part of her had never stopped believing.
"I... I don't understand... I thought, thought I'd lost you. Your presence was gone. I felt it go with every fibre of my being... And I didn't sense you come back... I... I'm sorry I couldn't get to you... Couldn't help you... I was too weak..."
She bowed her head, almost disgraced at herself and her thoughts turned to the ritual she had put herself through after his death.
"I'm... I'm trying. I mean I have been trying to better myself... I. I don't want to be weak. I want to be strong enough to protect you... Help you..."
A slightly longer pause as she lifted her gaze to meet his own and although she said nothing, everything she wanted to was said in that moment.
I missed you. I love you...

She was so full of emotion, a tumultuous boiling pot and he wanted so bad to comfort her. And it seemed the thing that did it most was his presence. He smiled as she caressed his face, his kind eyes never leaving hers. He wanted to tell her everything, but he knew he couldnt. If he told her the total truth they would come for her. They would take her...and he could never live with that. His life had become...different, when they last met. He wouldnt lose her again. Not again...
She was trying to explain, trying to apologize. And in the end she never really had to do any of it. Maximos' hand came up gently caressing the side of her beautiful soft face, his finger slowly gliding across her lips before it came to settle in the center of her lips. As if to silently hint, "You dont have to apologize."
Theres nothing you could have done, nothing anyone could have done...it was my time.
His finger slid back to the side of her face. She moved to bow her head, his hand gently slid beneath her chin to lift it back where it was so that he could meet her eyes with his warm smile and wash away her shame.
Your perfect the way you are Juunikyuu...
That look in her eyes, there was a glimmer of something. Something within her...he just couldnt place it.

Juunikyuu smiled and felt her worry melt away befoe chuckling and leaning back to kneel, her legs tucked underneath her as she nervously ran a hand through her hair.
"I wouldn't say perfect, an Angel getting thrown out of heaven? Nothing perfect about that..."
She scoffed a little at herself, light heartedly.
"And these are just a reminder of that. A reminder of what I have to loose."
As she said this she lifted her arm and awkardly made an attempt to point at the two scars on her back. Like two small and angled crosses that shone in a slightly silvered tone with the black shadow marks tracing intricate patterns across them.
Maximos wasn't the only one who had changed. But for better or worse, she was happy with things being this way. And she certainly wasn't about to risk everything she had been put through to loose him or anyone else again.
"You know..." she said in a quiet whisper, "I thought about coming to get you..."

Maximos ever light hearted gave something of a small laugh. It wasnt mocking laughter, instead it was more something bring a brighter smile to her face.
Well, Heaven is just not all its cracked up to be.
His hand traced around the the mark on her back, with a concerned wince on her face. Almost feeling the pain for her, not really sure if she was feeling pain. His fingers gently running through the streaks of silver dripping from the scars. His fist clenching tightly, absolutely despising the idea of someone he cared for being in pain.
I think...
He pause for a moment, a single fingers tracing the black markings. They seemed familiar, and yet not at the same time.
...It think I needed to lose...in order to appreciate what I had...
Before finally moving up and hovering just over the scars. His right arm twitching twice.
Do they hurt?

Juunikyuu purred inwardly as he traced over her back before pausing and thinking for a little while, biting her bottom lip. How best to answer the question...
"They did when they first formed... But now, they only hurt when I unleash or sheath my wings. It serves the purpose of reminding me of my own mortality and what I have to lose."
She could sense his worry and that upset her slightly. She most certainly did not mean to worry him.
"I'm sorry if they upset you..."
Should she mention the shadow mark on her chest? Or could he still sense the shadows? Juunikyuu was still unaware of the shadow marks that covered her scars and beautiful translucent wings.

Oh no no...
He said, trying to wash away her concern. He just hated to see one her cared for in pain, he would never want her to blame herself for something like that. Something she had no power over.
You could never upset me, I'm just worried...
Feeling it safe, his fingers gently traced over the scar itself. Wishing he could save her the pain with a touch, and wipe away the scars with nothing more than his concern.
His head turned awkwardly to the side, a quizzical look cast across his features as if he had just noticed something. His hand slid down his back, a few violet sparks jumping from the shadow marks to his fingers.
You know...
He said, his hand sliding back up to the scars.
We can free her...

Juunikyuu blinked a little in surprise at this last comment, confusion sweeping through her mind.
"Free her? ... What do you me-
She gave a gasp of surprise and turned her head as far to the left and then to the right as it would go, catching small glimpsed of black down her back.
"Eyah~! There too!"
Juunikyuu pouted and then sighed, relaxing again as she smiled at Maximos.
"It's alright, she's no longer within me... But I had to give her part of me so she could survive after you... Well after you left. The shadow gem you gave me, the one that made her, it disappeared and so she had nothing and it was slowly killing her..."
She held her right arm out into the evening sunrays and turned it this way and that, but no shadow was cast on the ground from it. Indeed Juunikyuu no longer possessed a shadow, Maximos' shadow seemed quite alone in the garden.
"It's not like I need a shadow anyway I suppose..."
His touch felt cool on the scars and compared to the rest of her back they were definately warmer and of a slightly different texture.
"It would appear that you are alone within yourself now also..."
The Senshi smiled and nodded over in the direction of D.

Maximos listened, his eyes opening wide in surprise.
The n-necklace?!
He had no idea, absolutely no clue. He didnt even know such a thing was possible. He thought the was just making a very nice piece of jewelry with a particular magical effect. He had a very apologetic look on his face, he never meant to cause her more worry with his gift.
I'm so sorry...I had no idea.
His eyes traced her arm, and the total lack of shadow beneath it. He had sensed it before approaching her, each shadow had an individual voice she was rather silent.
No, I dont suppose you do. Shadows are over-rated too.
He had a smirk on his face, realizing how it must sound for something like that, to come from him. He followed her nod, looking at D, who had resumed playing the garden.
Almost...
He lifted his right arm, the arm was bandaged, and gloved. As opposed to his left, which was simply wearing a silver wristwatch. The arm twitched, again.
...I suppose someone just couldnt stand to have me entirely alone in here.
He laughed a bit to himself.

Juunikyuu listened and nodded.
"It happened after the attack by Koten. You remember? When he seperated Juuni and myself? Foolish ma thought he was purging me of my imperfection. He nearly killed me! The shadow gem and my angelic pendent fused together and we were rejoined."
She smiled and stroked his face, "And so really you need not apologise... You saved my life. Again..."
The Senshi blinked at what Maxi said next and her gaze travelled to his banaged arm. Gingerly Juunikyuu reached a hand out towards the arm, unsure of whether or not she should risk touching it.
"What... what happened to your arm?"

Indeed I do...
He said with something of a grimace, on his face. His bottom lip inverting, it was a sour memory to say the least.
His head still rests on a mantle in my study...
But a smile came as she continued.
Well then I'm glad...
The way she reached for his arm was amusing, and yet at the same take worrying. It was funny to see a grown woman afraid of something as gentle as an arm, but at the same time it was a concern, because to the best of his knowledge, the arm just may be that dangerous.
Just as her fingers neared it, the arm twitched and back away, just an inch. As if it was afraid of her.
I...
He hung on that word for a moment, not sure exactly how to explain himself.
On my first day back, I made a mistake. And it left...a mark of sorts.
Granted, that wasnt the most descriptive answer, but he didnt want her to worry. The arm seemed afraid, it only acted on base instincts, this had to be one...but why?
Its alright, you can touch it.

Juunikyuu cocked her head to the side quizzically.
"You... Have his head?" sweatdrop
Still, she reached forwards and brushed her fingers lightly over the bandages. The arm felt different to the rest of Maximos, but she just couldn't say how exactly. Still, so long as he was okay that was fine.
A thought crossed the Senshi's mind and she changed the subject.
"Do you er, still have the gift I gave you? I mean, it was only a trivial thing so I'll understand if you had to give it up when you passed on..."

Definitely, he needs constant supervision, his head had a seed of the the Dark...
He paused for a few moments, realizing exactly how odd that would sound. And sort of waved it off. It was a bad habit of his, keeping to himself not wanting to bother anyone with long stories, or boring details.
...thats a sort of long story.
The arm, was...different, to say the least. It twitched once, when she touched, and once when she moved her hand over. But Maximos just smiled right on through, as if nothing had happened at all. Just continuing with their conversation.
Oh yes definitely, I would never lose something as precious as that. I look at it everyday, its still shaped exactly like your face on that day.
He paused, remembering it with the brightest smile.

Juunikyuu's cheeks flushed a light pink and she diverted her gaze briefly. Although she didn't say it, she was deeply touched that Maximos still had the crystal and that it was still holding that paricular form. Inwardly she shuddered, she wasn't sure she liked the idea of Koten's head sitting on a shelf somewhere but so long as he was out of her way she didn't really mind.
She sighed again. Such relief was very welcome after such a long period of stress and worry.
"I really can't believe that I've found you again..."
Suddenly she remembered what Maximos had scolded D for as he had been dragged out of the windmill.
"Oh! Did, did I disturb you from something? I'm sorry!"
