Lin chuckled at this, "I grew up with your brother, I only see who he is."

Yes, there were times where she could see Ruel's temper or stubbornness, a bit less in the dramatic, but she did see the others, but that was all Earendil the way it all filtered out.

Miyuki nodded as she held the makeshift napkin bag and headed over to her parents.

"Hello Auntie," Miyuki murmured as she reached the grown ups.

"Good morning, Miyuki," Tinuviel greeted her niece. "Saving some breakfast for later?"

She smiled good-naturedly and nodded at the 'bag' in Miyuki's hand.

Miyuki shook her head and looked down at Ai who was at her feet, "It's Ai's breakfast. I'll feed her so she can eat while I meditate. I don't know if Eevees can meditate too, but she's still pretty young so I figured she might find it boring to do it now."

Maybe later, after all, Eevees were supposed to be really smart and wasn't psychics had something to do with the mind?

"You're going to meditation now?" Lin asked, since she didn't know how long they would be end up talking to Shiro.

"Aranxia wanted to show me something first, and then I should go look for Lancaeriel to tell her I won't be in for a morning lesson before meditating in the courtyard...." she paused, "She hasn't shown up for breakfast so I think she must still be researching."

"Oh, Lancaeriel finished before most of the rest of the family came down," Regan spoke up from the other side of Tinuviel. "She's been and gone. Sir Valdemar is the one who hasn't shown up for breakfast yet."

"Well, regardless, we'll look for you in the courtyard after we've spoken with Shiro, then," Earendil told Miyuki. "Keep an eye on the sky, though. If it's going to start raining before we find you, make sure you come back inside."

Miyuki blinked back at her ada, "It's actually going to rain?"

She looked thoughtful, she wondered if she could watch from a window or something. Miyuki had seen rain before, but it was really unusual for it to rain in a desert.

"Does this mean we might have to put some of today's plans on hold?"

"We may not be able to go into the city," Earendil replied. "It hasn't rained here since before my father was born. The city has never experienced rain. The shops might be closed just in case. But unless it storms, we'll still be going up to the mountain at least. Still, you'd better get going if you want to get some meditation in before it starts. We'll look for you in the courtyard when we're ready; if it's raining we'll look for you here in the dining hall. Sound good?"

Miyuki thought about it for a moment before nodding, "That sounds good. I'll see you later then!"

She said her goodbyes before going off with Aranxia. If it rained then she would like to get some outside time before it did.

Leaving the dining hall behind, Aranxia set off with Miyuki towards the family's wing of the castle.

"So what is meditation, anyways?" she asked as she led the way through the more complicated area. "Thinking about something in particular?"

Miyuki was quiet, as she was trying to think of the best way to describe it.

"Meditation is... finding a state of mind, what sort is different for everyone. For me, it's to help me sense magic and to be able to tell the difference better between everyone else's magical aura. It's also supposed to help me be more in-tune with mine, but I'm sort of taking it one step at a time."

Since really, she had started with the hopes to be able to sense others when they were coming towards her, but at the moment she couldn't tell how far they were as everyone's magical strength was different. She hadn't yet gotten to the point where she could tell apart the different auras of people she knew.

"Ah," Aranxia nodded in understanding. "Yes ... Sir Valdemar tells me that an ability like that comes to some people more easily than to others ... and that some people never gain that ability at all. Telling the difference between people by sensing their magic, I mean."

She glanced at Miyuki. "Are you focusing on yourself or others first?" she asked curiously.

"On others, I have...." Miyuki wondered if Alaessa would still be willing to be her teacher until they reach Amon Darthir, "A quarterstaff teacher who is blind, and she taught me about how to get around without sight. It is very difficult, but I had wondered about aura sensing from that, which is how I ended up learning more about magic in the first place."

Really, learning magic in itself had not been Miyuki's original plan because no one had suggested it until she met her Grandfather Daemon.

"Alassëa, you mean?" Aranxia asked for clarification. Alassëa had been Miyuki's staff teacher when the group had passed through the year before. "She is very talented, yes ..."

She frowned. "Father wants me to learn how to use a staff, but ... I don't like the idea of large weapons. Staff, sword ... I don't like them at all."

Miyuki nodded at Aranxia's question.

"Is there a weapon you wouldn't mind using?" Miyuki asked curious.

She knew she didn't like swords and most fighting knives (and most blades fro that matter).

"I'm rather fond of archery," Aranxia admitted, "though the thought of ever having to aim at a person ... disturbs me ..."

She grimaced. Clearly what bothered her most was the thought that all of her training was to prepare her to take lives, if necessary. Of course it would be in self defense, but that didn't make it easier.

"And I suppose I would use fighting knives," she added, though unenthusiastically. "Small daggers. That's about it, though. I understand the need to know how to defend myself, but I don't like it."

Miyuki couldn't really say anything to that, because she understood better than when she was little how not everyone was nice (and some people were just down right bad).

"I really can't say much on that," Miyuki admitted, "I don't like the idea much myself, but.... people aren't always nice when my family travels."
