Those hands on her shoulder froze her to her core. They were so big, so gentle. She wished she had the power to shove them right off of her, but instead she just slumped slightly at the touch her entire body suddenly reminded her it wanted. It was a vicious enemy, her body. She despised how much she wanted to back up into those arms and forget all of her pain.

Barth blinked sleepily, on the edge of dream and the waking world, and realized that it was quiet except for talking across the room, and whoever had been singing was no longer singing, and that he was beside someone...Christof, he was beside Christof, which both was new and old news to him...
"Yes, sorry, yes?" he asked, head swimming back into awake.

When Freya didn't shake his hands from her, Herryk exhaled shakily. That was a good sign. That was a very good sign. He followed through with his initial plan at that moment, leaning forward so that he could speak soft words into her ear. His lips moved against her when he spoke, and his words were soft enough that it nearly impossible for others to hear what he was saying to the ghoul.
"Herryk needs Freya. Herryk needs Freya because she makes him laugh, she makes him angry, she makes him sad. Freya makes Herryk feel things he has never felt before, things that he doesn't understand. All Herryk knows is that Freya is all that Herryk needs. Herryk is... afraid. Afraid of losing Freya, afraid of hurting Freya. Herryk wants to make Freya happy. Herryk needs to make Freya happy. Herryk.. belongs to Freya. A humble boil is all Herryk is. A slave to Freya's happiness."
After saying what he had to say, Herryk waited. No more wasting time. No more waiting. Everything was riding on this.

"You-fell-asleep" Christof signed pointedly, brows furrowed once more. "Need-me-for-something?" He finally clarified with a sigh, although he doubted it and it showed on his face. Why was he running over here when he had Calder sulking across the room without him, ready to serve his beck and call.

"Did I? I think I-" Yes, he had drifted off for a moment, and then...but now he was here. This was where he had wanted to walk- did walk- the details were slippery to hold onto, even if he had slept for only a moment. "I just- wanted to know what you were thinking, is all," Barth said. He didn't mean it in an accusatory fashion, as in what were you thinking. He meant it as he said it.

Freya's eyes closed the moment the first word was whispered. She listened, but it was hard; his breath was gentle, and made her skin tingle. She soaked in his words with a delay, only understanding them a moment after each one was said. The delay snapped away when he admitted he was afraid, and suddenly she was listening very attentively.
He was afraid of losing her.
He belonged to her. Not the other way around. He wasn't trying to lay claim to her, he was admitting his own need.
And the way she melted back against him helplessly expressed her need right back.
She gave in to those stupid, stupid desires that tore at her heart, and forcefully pulled his hands around so that his arms wrapped her up in them, leaving her safe and secure in his embrace. Still, despite her own weakness, her voice sounded strangled and desperate, still harboring a touch of anger within.
"Don't you ever walk away from me again." She practically hissed, keeping her face well hidden so he still couldn't see her cry. "If you give me your back ever again, I will never forgive you. Never."

That made the hunchback bristle, glancing away bashfully again. His hands shifted, rubbing each other anxiously before gingerly signing, "Feeling," But stopped, expression crinkling around the edges as he rocked a bit, "You-are-very-close-to-Calder-now."

That was why he had slapped him? What did Calder have to do with it? He looked over at Calder, who was laying on the floor shirtless.
"Err, well," Barth said, "a bit closer, yes."

Christof fidgeted, as though debating his options. "People-like-you." He managed. Ghouls gravitated to him, Calder hung all over him, did his laundry, tended to him... "I-have-not-been-very-useful-to-you-this-trip." He managed at least, although by the look on his face that was only scratching the surface.

"I suppose I have been err- on the preoccupied side," Barth said. "A lot on my mind recently."

"Mmm," Christof still didn't look at him, brows furrowed.
Finally, though, he signed very simply, "Mistress-has-Dragon. You-have-Calder. I-understand." Igors stood in the background and waited to be useful. If there was someone more pleasing to do the work... well. The Igor stayed in the background, regardless of what they wanted.

"It is not exactly that sort of thing," Barth said, reddening. Jericho and Riley's relationship was, as far as he knew, close but not that close. And Calder still hadn't said anything about- well, Barth was only forced to assume he didn't want to talk about it, which translated to a lot of pining from a metaphorical distance while Calder told Herryk how big and strong he was ... It was a mess.
Barth could not say I have you, to Christof either, because, well, he didn't.
"It is a thing that is not working out very well, because while I may here and there be liked well enough, I find I am not liked quite enough when it matters."

"I-like-you, Master." The hunchback signed, eyes still glued to his knees as his hands did the talking. "Like-serving-you."

Dropping protection charms didn’t exactly have the effect she wanted on her sister…in fact, Hel was a bit embarrassed even when she whipped out her laser pointer and even managed to make a graph on the wall. Ugh. The valkyrie turned around and face palmed.
Everntually she did she turn back around…she had missed a whole lotta stuff. How did she miss all that stuff?
Hel paused as she watched the situation unfold between her sister and Herryk, and was about to try and intervene, someway, somehow, when her sister sang bits of a lullaby. Ah…yes, mother did sing that to them, and her sister would sing that to her a lot too, when they were alone. Being of the same species as Freya, Hel didn’t feel any sadness as her sister sang, but she was concerned. Once again, she was going to try and sort things out between Herryk and Freya, but once again, the undead boil seemed to take the initiative…so Hel just watched. Eventually…eventually…things seemed to take a good turn. The young valkyrie could only stare and blink, as she was struck hard by the realization that…her sister was willingly letting someone in.
The reaper stood there quietly, just staring.
What…did this all mean? What…her sister and herself had been fighting over all this time…did she…was she…? She wouldn’t get a chance to linger on this, as that bell chimed within her mind, and it was time to go. It couldn’t have come at a better time, honestly.
Hel shook her head a bit, and reluctantly tore her gaze away from Freya and Herryk to see what her group was up to. Ha…Riyo and Mot seemed out like lights…The reaper made her way over to Riyo and placed a hand on her shoulder, shaking it gently. “Come now, friend, it’s time for the next room.” She then made her way over to Mot and shook his shoulder very gently, as she didn’t want to jar any of his cuts. “…Sorry to wake you, friend. Jack knows you need the sleep, but it’s time to go.”
The valkyrie stood then, adjusted her bag, cast one more glance at Freya and Herryk, and then looked towards Mitsu and Shun. “I’m going on ahead, friends.” Out through the door she went then.
((Exiting!))

Barth's heart felt cold at the words. "You like me well enough. You do not prefer me. And you are concerned that I do not prefer you. Let me assure you, in almost all of my affairs, I do prefer you."
Not the more physically sensitive matters of course. Like shaving. Christof was lousy at it. Or at writing papers, because Christof tended to be a smart aleck. But on most things...
