The world felt like it was crashing down on Jett. Not just like it had felt when the rainbow had crumbled beneath his feet only moments before, but like the world literally was eating him alive. It was a petrifying, terrifying idea and he froze.
Jett was not afraid of wild animals—of spiders, snakes, rodents, wild dogs or even bears, and yet, nothing scared him more than the hoard of bats attacking. His first reaction was to run from them—an idea he’d actually never had before. Jett, arrogant enough to fight despite the fact he might be outnumbered and overwhelmed, who refused to give in so that he could live with no regrets, was suddenly considering running?
He was afraid for himself, first and foremost. Afraid of what was going to happen when those bats got here. Afraid of what would happen if he slipped and fell off the rainbow. Afraid of the whale’s return. Jett, who usually thought about himself first and foremost, was even afraid for those around him. For Raven, and Molly—Mary and Darwin—hell, he was even afraid for complete strangers.
His skin was crawling as the bats flocked nearer and his skin prickled uncomfortably. Jett jumped and immediately brushed at his arms, eyes darting wildly as if to search for spiders that might be giving him the sensation. He might have been relieved to find no spiders if he had not made the discovery that he was green—and hardly a flattering shade.
Jett brushed at his arm again, trying to remove the green as another wave of desperation coursed through him—but the shrieking of the bats was growing louder. His anxiety grew ten-fold and perhaps it was the immense fear that left Jett so finicky. A noise to his right might him jerk—just in time to avoid being attacked by one of the monstrous creatures.
Maybe it was all the time he’d spent in boxing matches that made him react the way he did—or maybe it was just the power of pure, raw fear, but he moved faster than he could ever remember moving and slugged the bat right on the underbelly as it swooped to attack him. It let out a sharp cry—and a tremor of fear violently shot down Jett’s spine as he jerked upright. He’d just been getting used to the silence, and the shrill noise hurt his ears. The relief of the punch was short lived; Jett couldn’t even enjoy his victory with the fear coursing through his veins. He was shaking profusely, clenching his hands into fists—ready to attack anything that got too close. His eyes were on the bat—it was still moving, but a part of him was hoping it would just go away. Every fiber of his being told him to call for help—let someone else solve this problem for him—but he was too afraid to open his mouth. He stood there, eyes wide and rooted to the spot as he shook like a leaf; that he was green was just a cruel play of irony.

As the whale's sound reached Raven's ears, she felt her head clear, and swallowed, pulling away from Carlolynn and Anandi. She seemed so embarassed, backing away and giving a little laugh. "Oh my god, I'm so so sorry! I don't know what came over me..."
Coming over her....what? She glanced down and let out a little gasp.
"My god I"m going crazy. Completely crazy..." She let out a little laugh as she stared at her purple skin. "But...but I'm beautiful! Wow!"
She looked around, laughing.
As the giant bats flew towards her, she grabbed one of them, hugging it. "Well! Aren't you just the cutest thing? I can't believe it! You are the cutest creature in the whole world!
The bat let out a horrible screech, grabbing her wrist with it's mouth, twisting until there was a pretty loud snapping sound.
Raven let out a cry of pain, tears welling up in her eyes, looking horrified, though bewildered, as the bat raked it's fangs down her arm, leaving two distinct gashes, pooling with violet blood.

Complete and utter age filled Mary, the likes of which would be talked around the Dynast Realms for eons to come.
SHE JUST WANTED TO FINISH HER GOD DAMN POST. IT WAS A GOD DAMN TURNING POINT IN ARGABAUTH'S STORY AND SHE'D BE DAMNED IF SHE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FINISH THE GOD DAMNED THING.
Still half crazed that she was a gryphon for realsies, she punched a bat, IN THE FACE.
"YOU SUNUVABEOTCH GET OUT OF MY RUDDY WAY!"
The bat went flying, and listed a little but he was still able to fight back.

Kes had been confused to say the least. More and more of the zodiacs had arrived which she honestly didn't understand. Something about them belonging there? She had no idea. She tried to tell Virgo her name and that she had been about to go to the harris hawk's to take one flying but so many people were talking she stopped at her name, not being overly helpful.
She listened as others told of what they were doing and found it quite interesting that they really were all just random people. There seemed to be little in common with any of them. The thing that probably confused her the most was another person with ******** fairy wings who asked why they were here, as if they knew? Really it was such a stupid question to ask! Then that noise again... this time it came with something and the bridge got hit. She was flung around and the noise, god it hurt her head. It seemed to happen more then once and some seemed to be attacking something? She wasn't sure her head hurt too much. Then she heard that it had someone? Really... owww her head. Now what was worse she couldn't hear and the ringing in her ears was driving her insane. She couldn't deal with all of this!
She crouched down and held her hands over her ears trying to bury her head between her knees. The noise, oh it hurt.
When she eventually looked up and the ringing in her head seemed to have stopped she looked around at everyone. She saw the space whale and had to blink a few times to realise it was actually a whale in space and part of her now really wanted to believe it was a dream if only because you can't die in your own dreams! She was starting to get a little worried, okay a bit more then a little. This was turning into a nightmare and all she wanted to do was be at home. She could apologise to her parents for being such a bad teenager and oh she would do anything. She then started to look around at everyone, noticing that people were changing colour? She looked at them and then herself.
"I'M A SIMPSON!" She couldn't help but shout it out, the first thing that came to her head when she looked down and saw that she was turning various shades of yellow. She soon started to feel more relaxed though as if everything was actually okay. She even saw some rather large bats heading her way but they looked rather cool. She found herself sitting down, laying back and just watching, occasionally batting one of the bats away. No reason to worry, everything was cool man.

Like she had guessed, her hand did barely any damage to the massive whale. It was still holding one of those soldiers, one of senshi. One of those should been their greatest aid. Was this battle really on their shoulders now? Them who senshi had called intruders? Or was this just a test? A cruel joke against them?
Jade's doubting thoughts were interupted by a big whale who was now... resonating? Before Jade could even form the question why in her head, she was blinded by multiple colors coming from the rainbow road. When she was able to open her eyes again, a terrifying scene opened before her eyes that were deep green now. Everyone has changed colors. There were orange people, yellow people, people colored in all kind of colors of the rainbow.
She was green. For some reason this fact terrified her more than everything. She stared at her light green skin, like it would be infected by some kind of terrible disease.
But then bats came. Jade's attention turned into those vicious creatures and terror filled her mind. Wide-eyed she watched them coming, taking steps back and trying to cover herself with her hands. It wasn't enough and soon Jade felt how the bat's teeth broke the sleeve of her now-green kimono and sunked deeply inside her flesh.
Shrieking, terrified scream filled the air as Jade desperately tried to chase the bat away that was eating her alive.

((ooc: I was at work all day, so I couldn't post for any of the earlier rolls. Hope it's okay to just jump in here! Rolls are for Gilbert first, Leo second. Gilbert: 4, 9 Leo: 9, 10)) There was one whole hell of a lot going on at once. First they were just walking, and then there were noises again -- something slamming into the ground -- strange people appearing -- Gilbert wasn't sure at this point that he was ever going to get any closer to having any idea what was going on. He'd wanted to ask the terrorist kid what the hell was going on, but he hadn't been able to make his way to the front of the crowd before all hell had broken loose. While he hadn't imagined that chaos would descend in exactly this manner, the fact of the matter was, s**t had just gotten really, really real. By the time his ears stopped ringing from the earlier assault, the world around him exploded in bright, sometimes horrifically clashing colors. He was startled enough to look down at his own hands and realize they were orange -- orange, like he'd put on some sort of terrible spray tan -- but that wasn't all. He barely had time to recover from this newest onslaught of completely ******** up experiences when enormous monster.. bat.. things poured out of the giant space whale's mouth and assaulted them. He was unfortunately close enough to the source of the attacks that he barely had time to put himself in a defensive position before he was impacted, full-force, by one of the creatures. It barreled straight into his chest, hitting with impressive force and robbing him of his breath entirely. Gilbert had been in enough hand-to-hand confrontations to realize that the sickening, almost blindingly painful feeling exploding in his ribs could only mean one thing -- he'd ******** cracked his ribs. Hitting the ground hard, he tucked up on his side, tears stinging the corners of his eyes when his side sang out in pain. Well, ********. All of the ********. ******** ******** ******** -- --- Soldier Leo was late. He didn't make a habit of it lately, but circumstances outside of his control prevented him from arriving on top. He'd been in the midst of a burning building, actually -- small arson -- and hadn't had access to his cell phone while he was heading in to put out the fire with the rest of the team. Thankfully there had been no civilians present; it was one of his first times on a real fire scene as a volunteer firefighter, and it was both exhilarating and awful at the same time. When he'd finally thrown himself back into his car and groped for his cell phone, he'd been surprised to see a text from Elke, had known the code instantly. Though he was tired, he had made a vow to himself that his senshi duties would run parallel to his civilian ones, and so he'd made for the Surrounding as soon as he could. And he had descended into utter chaos. He'd landed near his own Outpost, as per usual, but in the distance he'd been able to hear the rumblings of a confrontation. That in and of itself was abnormal enough to cause his heart to stutter, had pushed him to immediately traverse the rainbow road until he arrived at the source of chaos and confusion. He came upon the edges of it, his run slowing to a walk as a wave of overwhelming sadness swept over him. His step faltered a moment, but he caught himself, hand balling into a fist at his side as he surveyed the battle scene and tried to discern exactly where to direct an attack amidst the chaos. His reflexes were slowed by the mood of despair that had settled over him, but when a bat-like creature screeched and descended upon him, he was fast enough to fling his hand out and form a ball of light in his palm. In a moment, an impossibly bright beam of energy shot from his hand, streaking through the night's black sky and landing directly in the creature's chest. It managed to finish the final beat of its wings, the motion oddly disjointed as its midsection vaporized from Soldier Leo's attack, but in the next heartbeat its wings were falling to the ground, useless. The beam of light from his palm had been so bright that he didn't worry about the other Zodiac wondering any longer where he was; the signature radiance of his attack would always herald his arrival. Sheila’s throat was sore from her own screams and choked with sobs. All she could think of was to run, run! Run away from the monster, find somewhere safe to hide. Something grabbed her arm and forced her to a stop, her cry of fear cutting itself off as she realized that it was Marienrode who grabbed hold of her. The woman’s arms wrapped around her, and Sheila sobbed into her. “No I won’t, no I won’t! I don’t want to die! I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” She sobbed, “I didn’t mean to do anything, I don’t know what I did to deserve this! I was just, I was just doing what everyone else was I didn’t mean to do it, honest! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorr-rr-ryyyy!” She hiccuped and pulled away from Marienrode fearfully as the whale began to sing, looking up at it as the colors of the rainbow road grew brighter and brighter... Quote: Roll: 8 Green - Scared. Yeah, I know, everyone is scared. You're in a strange place with strange people and strange God-knows-whats are attacking you and making things absolutely miserable. You want your mommy. You'd actually like a whole platoon of mommies right about now. Do you curl up and hide or master your fear? ((LOLOOLLLLL already there, dice! |D )) Sheila’s eyes failed to change. Her skin turned a vibrant dark (emerald, she corrected absently) green. Her hair paled into celadon with a streak of bright chartreuse replacing her former pink streak. The uniform she was wearing twisted, the greens twisting into a mockery of camouflage.
However, Sheila did not undergo a personality change: she was already scared stiff to begin with. The girl trembled, shaking as the whale unleashed its second attack: space bats.
A rough, painful scream of fear tore itself from her throat as the bats approached the group, splitting to zero in on their targets. “No!” She screamed, “No! No, no, no no nonononono!” Her hands went up and over her head, her hands striking out blindly and scoring a hit on the bat. “Leave me alone!” (( Sheila!Bat HP: 8! ))

She could usually calm any child; it had always seemed a gift. But now, confronted with Sheila's tears and sobs, Marienrode found herself quite at a loss. Perhaps it was simply the fact that she was so thrown off by realizing this place was no fantasy, or perhaps it was that Sheila stood so terrified, but she let the girl pull further away. Maybe that would soothe the child? "You didn't do anything that would be a contributing factor to this," she said hopelessly, "Sheila, please, you're not going to die--" The whale began to sing, and Marienrode looked down at the road as the colors grew brighter… Marienrode Color: 12--VioletQuote: Passionate. Oh boy are you alive! Everything is moving, you can't sit still, you want to do things and be things and oh man did you see those stars! This is the best energy drink you've ever had in your life. Do those things even work on you? You also find everyone around you immensely attractive. Good luck keeping it in check! You know... she'd never quite noticed how attractive Gilbert Hennessy was before. Marienrode's hair had turned an attractive shade of lavender, her skin just a shade darker; the Hillworth-toned sweater she'd been wearing was a lovely conglomerate of plums and burgundies. And she was fairly certain her downstairs neighbor had never looked quite as... appealing... as he did right then! Somewhere in her head, Marienrode knew this probably was not the best time to be ignoring something attacking her. The bat that swooped at her knocked her down quite neatly, the wrist she fell on cracking under the pressure. But that didn't matter! She felt like a million bucks, and one little broken wrist certainly was not going to stop her from grabbing hold of the back of Gilbert's head and pulling him down for a very passionate kiss. Marienrode Bat: 10HP------ Virgo had since given up on anything but protecting the Princess, and she kept her shield up for exactly that purpose. It distracted her; but not enough that she missed the beam of light cutting through the sky. Leo! She looked over and smiled at her fellow Soldier, just for a moment as she turned away from Chronos. God but he was badass, she thought; was there any man as fine as hers? No. Definitely not. Virgo Color: YellowQuote: Mellow. Not a care in the world, who cares that you're in space? You sure don't. Nothing is really bothering you like it should and you're aware of it…but you can't seem to care somehow. Can you? You know? Suddenly, Virgo was ninety-five percent sure everything was fine. Sure, some giant space whale monster was attacking a bunch of innocent civilians, but she couldn't really... muster anything in reaction to that other than a nonplussed dedication. When her bat swooped her way, she backhanded it away; it hit the surface of the Surrounding, several yards away, after being sent sprawling away with a loud eeeeeeee. No sir, that bat would not be coming back for a few minutes yet. Whatever. Virgo Bat: 2HP

It was hard to say things could possibly get worse when you were hallucinating that there was some sort of wallaby with a hammer for a head attacking you when it had been a whale previously but then when it turned back into a whale and began to sing? Really, this s**t could not get worse. However, life had a way of spitting in your face when you were already wallowing in a puddle, and to make it all worse: everyone starting changing colours! Red ones, orange ones, yellow ones, green ones, blue ones and...
There were bats coming at him, and this only made him smile. They were so cute! Look at them! He swung his arms at them in an attempt to hug them, unfortunately hitting them in the process. Oh, how sad! Were they hurt? Oh, he just wanted to hug them even more! If only Cameron from five minutes ago could see his face, he might have jumped off the rainbow. Cameron's Bat has 8 HP!

First, she nearly fell off the bridge and had to be helped back, then they were all attacking giant multi eyed space whales who looked nothing like the paintings of whales and dolphins in space. Maybe it was angry because it’d been so grossly misrepresented for so long. All the same she didn’t think eating someone called ‘cancer’ was a good idea in the least. It just opened up WAY too many jokes. Not that it was a good time for jokes but when you’re hysterical the oddest things seem to fit into a situation, or so she thought.
“I WAS KIDDING ABOUT THE SPACE WHALES! I DIDN’T MEAN TO PISS IT OFF!!” was about the sum of what she managed to actually get out of her mouth before people started turning into smurfs and snorks.
Violet was the color her skin turned, if anything it amplified the way she felt about things normally. It was amazing, it was outstanding life was full and rich and nothing could EVER top seeing a space whale up close and personal. Heck this was so much cooler than the whale watch trip she’d been on, it didn’t even spew snot it spewed bats, which didn’t smell nearly as bad!
Except they hurt like hell, sunshine and rainbows turned into a scream of pain when it broke her arm. She cradled it to her chest, folding over it with tears running down her face. At least she felt alive, pain meant she was alive even if it was a really –shitty- kind of alive. She vowed never ever to own a picture of a space whale as long as she lived and prayed that might appease the cancer-eating beast.

"Foam boppers would have at least been more entertaining," Fritz said, giving a melodramatic sigh. "But now I have no shoes and this stupid thing is still - "
Except it wasn't. The massive whale was...moving away? Fritz stared at it, trying to figure out what on earth was going on, and then -
Hummmmm -
Color flooded his vision, a great wave of dozens of different colors and hues and shades, almost blinding him as they glowed brighter and brighter until the whale gave a loud, resonating hum and they slowly faded, leaving Fritz standing with one hand raised to shield his face.
...one...green...hand?
His head hurt. And he was feeling slightly dizzy. And his chest felt weirdly tight, his eyes watering from the pain -
- what pain? That wasn't pain, that was -
"AUUGGHH I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE I WANT TO BE AT HOME CAN I GO HOME PLEASE OH JEEZ THAT WHALE IS GOING TO EAT US ALL WHERE'S MY BROTHER WHERE AM I CAN I LEAVE YET OMG WHAT ARE THOSE BAT THINGS MOMMYYYYYYYY - !"
Somewhere within all of his terrified panicking and wailing, Fritz pelted the other shoe in his hand desperately towards the throng of toothy bats, not really noticing when it smacked into one of them with a particularly gross squish.
[ green, 4 damage! I'll be gone most of the day, feel free to have Fritz stick with Ian~ ]

The irony that she had only just mentioned 'clapping for Tinkerbell' before a woman with big pink wings arrived on the scene was not lost on Holi... though she really didn't have a great deal of time to consider it.
Giant Space whales with luminescent markings and an intent to destroy the already fragile looking road they were on took a certain precedent over her apparent powers of prediction.
She was grateful enough certainly that her startled scream when the whale initially punched a hole in things was lost in it's own eerie scream, though her hands and knees ached from being thrown to the ground.
((Hallucinating YAY!)) ... and the fact that there seemed to be yet more fairies... the little sparkly kind the size of firefly's, wasn't really helping her concentration, or her head, and she batted them furiously as she struggled to regain her feet.
She felt rather... off... but she couldn't have put her finger on it. Anyway, that goddamn whale was pissing her off.
"******** YOU STUPID SPACE WHALE! I'M GONNA MAKE YOU ENDANGERED! YOU AND YOUR STUPID LITTLE FAIRY ******** FRIENDS!"
She hollered, grabbing what she thought might have been a section of road, though it could just as well have been one of her angry looking cat slippers, and threw it as hard as she could at the Space Whale.
"YOU DON'T EXIST!" She yelled at it. THAT would tell it for sure. Stupid Space Whale, pretending to be real.
It was sorta pretty in a migrane causing fairy-associating kind of way, but goddamn it, it didn't exist and it had no right pretending that it did.

She had yanked her two companions back and hoped they'd stay yanked back. It was bad enough that Regina seemed to think that everything was happening was neat and interesting when she should have been terrified of it all. Amy at least had some sense. She was trying to have her own sense but it wasn't working all that well.
She was used to getting in fights but she was always used to getting into fights with things she could handle. It was easy enough to deal with a person. She could just punch them. What were you suppose to do against a giant damn whale? Yea the shoe had been brilliant in a moment of anger but now she was missing one and knew that there was no way hitting it when the other would do any good.
Then it was gone. The whale started to retreat and she'd almost hollered in joy. "It's leaving! Your stupid space whale is .... wait ... what's it do..." She'd looked over at Regina again, still blaiming the other girl's mention of Hitchhikers Guide for the whale, when it started to make noise again.
She watched as Regina started to turn an amusing shade and then as she was going to point and laugh realized that the hair that was hanging in her face wasn't it's beautiful shade of black anymore. "Holy ******** i'm a blond!" Nevermind that her skin had turned her into a sunflower. She was blond and that was just unacceptable. All of a sudden it didn't matter anymore though. So what if she was blond and sitting on the edge of the universe on a rainbow that couldn't' possibly exist getting sung at by some giant space swimming whale?
No wait. That wasn't right. The whale had tried to kill Regina. "....I don't feel well." She buried her face in her hands for a moment as she tried to figure out why her head was telling her that everything was peachy kean and her stomach was trying to beat it's way to her brain to strangle it in raging anger. "I was mad but i'm not mad anymore but i'm still mad. Stupid whale tried to eat people but it's so nice and pretty out here and the whale's all the way over there not hurting anyone anymore and it's kinda pretty. What if it's an endangered species? We can't hurt it then even if it did try to eat Regi and Amy ..."
Her ltitle monolog would have continued on if it wasn't for the fact that just as she was starting to wonder if someone should get a picture of the whale to take back to the university and ask about species she was clocked over the head by a giant bat wing. The force of the blow rattled her head as she looked up, arms flailing.
"... Someone tell Batman his pets got loose." She grinned for a moment before giggling rather stupidly.

Holi's day was hardly improved when the Imaginary Space whale attacked again, colors flashing everywhere like a strange trip out of an old Beatles Music Video. When they washed away, not only was the blue tint in her hair emphasized, her skin was blue too. Oh GOD she hated smurfs. She hated Smurfs SO MUCH she could just cry... and did. She couldn't explain why she suddenly felt so full of grief, though she definitely felt as though she was suffering here. She was one of the only ones who seemed to see that this was all painfully, painfully irrational, like singing Rudolf in July. Big, fat, blue tinged tears rolled down her cheeks in an river, and it wasn't helped by the swarm of wolf sized bat's that flooded the area.
She threw her hands up in self defense as they flooded the area, even more hideous than the noise of the alien, strangely lovely whale, and certainly no more pleasant than the tides of grief that seemed to be weighing her down.
One of them slammed into her, ((edited)) and she swatted it frantically. The impact was jarring, the way dropping from a height was, or slamming your arm into someone's bony parts, but the bat seemed to have taken the worst of it.

Regina had gone from angry panic mode to mellow in .05 seconds the moment she was hit with the beam. Her hair was a sunny blond, eyes a warm gold, and skin seemingly brighter than it had ever been before. She was, for once in her life, one of the 'beautiful people'... Or at least that's what she might have thought had she actually cared enough.
She could have been worrying about the bat or the space whale. She could have been fretting about a dozen things... She wasn't. Regina didn't even seem to care that a bat had flown straight for her or, even after it had knocked her to the ground as she'd tried to reach out and pet it, that her wrist was now at a horribly odd angle; likely filled with pain and considerably broken.
"... Wow."
