That would make it inaccessible to some of us.

But yeah, there's so many problems, they really need to fix those first imo, before adding new areas.

That's the thing, though; if they're not making new content, our beloved Artist is out of a job.

It's an awful Catch-22; if they don't keep making new stuff to prove that the team's actually doing something (which applied to both [ JK ] and Mavdoc, while he was here), they're liable to lose the little support they've got left. Everyone knows that the game needs to be fixed-up at a very basic level, but there's no chance for that to happen until Gaia's ready to give the game a little faith; and that's not happening, yet... gonk

Something tells me that the day that artist in particular is gone, then the other two devs won't be making many comebacks themselves...

it's a weird position JK got himself into. People like him too much to let him go, and he did manage to find a way to earn his keep... He can, somewhat, remain exclusively on zOMG! (the only time he was pulled was to make the new site intro) but there isn't really much else he can do.

He's stuck there. Much to our benefit. While he does come around less lately, he's still a driving force.

So, I am wondering, how do we pull other devs into that position? what could be so financially secure and relatively time consuming for a coder that would pull other devs into this postion? And how would we convince gaia to let them try it? And how would we know if they want it?

Eh... Here's hoping WiiU has a new spellcaster-based sword of mana that plays like zOMG!

Yes, it's a vicious circle. I've talked to quite a few people who tried it and quit due to glitches. It really boggles my mind that Gaia is neglecting something with so much potential. They should have at least 6 zomg devs, then they could fix and expand at the same time.

While I'd naturally agree with you, I do recall flajeu saying (on his return visit, since he left) that we have [ JK ] and swarf to thank for the fact that zOMG! is still here. While [ JK ]'s contribution has been a lot more apparent to us, I think we can probably attribute just as much to swarf's stubbornness, as to [ JK ]'s good faith.

I'm willing to guess that at least part of that comes from his position on the zOMG! Team - he's not "an artist", but the "Art Director". As a company, it would be very difficult for them to move him without giving him an equivalent or higher title in his new position. They've been able to give swarf and bronstahd similar roles (Lead Programmer and Mission Designer, respectively), but I imagine it's much more difficult to simply "pull in" an Art Director to a project he's not familiar with (and which likely already has more familiar artists involved), and quite possibly not interested in. While bron and swarf probably enjoy (on some level, at least) tinkering with systems unlike zOMG!, any project that [ JK ] led would almost certainly wind up filled with Animated, et. al. sweatdrop

But you're right; he's found himself in a rather interesting position. The only thing that worries me is that Buddies sales have been dropping gradually with each new release; the plans to keep them in the shop indefinitely should help some, but it still makes me wonder how long that momentum can be maintained. confused

Of course, once he's back creating new elements for Buccaneer Boardwalk, there's a chance that additional Headstart Ticket sales could supplement the Buddies (and, if they're Buddies of new BB enemies, they may stir some excitement of their own) - we just need to get by, till then. Undermountain comes next, though - does anyone have any thoughts for making some grand marketing scheme to coincide with the release of Undermountain? Undermountain-themed Buddies, I'd imagine; but what else?

This whole post feels a bit scatterbrained. It may be time for me to get some sleep, as I fear I'm not making an awful lot of sense... eek

Hm... coordinate one of the site Summer events with the release of UM. Perhaps have event loot as part of new UM-related recipes. Or have UM loot become some component or other within the site event.

Have something in La Victoire to make it "easier" to upgrade rings beyond CL 10.0, but only available temporarily. The "harder" way would not cost Cash, and be a permanent fixture.

If you look at the graph here you can see what kind of effect Easter had on the z!Forum.
I wish it could go back further.

I notice bron is a member, have you considered asking swarf and [ JK ]? I would think the devs would be interested in the great ideas being discussed here in this guild...

Invitations were sent to bronstahd and swarf ([ JK ] has Guild invitations disabled); bronstahd (obviously) accepted his, and we never heard a response from swarf (understandably; I'm sure the devs get more random invitations than they can handle). I pointed the Guild out to [ JK ], with something of a veiled invitation (not sure he got the hint, though xp ), and I've sent him links from inside of it several times.

I pester [ JK ] enough with z!magine threads even without him being a member of the Guild, and I don't know swarf well enough to warrant pestering him more than I already have... sweatdrop

Okay, as long as they're aware of it, and sounds like JK should be aware of this guild, lol

I wonder if bron ever comes in and actually looks around? Or maybe its like the friend requests, he just accepts them all as courtesy and doesn't think again about it. xd

This poaching nonsense... needs to be taken to the next level :V
Let's hand out fancy deeds to every non-instanced screens in zOMG! and keep track of who owns what. If it's on your screen, it's yours. Auction them off at first or whatever.

The whole of Village Green is mine thought.

Wait a sec... what happened to the adds before zOMG! loads?

Anyway, Friend Fight: zOMG!'s equivalent to Friend Chat.
Rent an instance with the main benefits being less laggy servers and unlimited players, thought no rewards. Or something.

Old idea. I think it was Sensual Soul...

Ah, yeah I was talkingh about this with someone the other day, we should be able to create a custom instance, choose an environment, choose animated for it, invite our friends.

And the pre game ads have been gone for a looong time.

I recall thinking (probably in response to Rafi's suggestion, actually) of area-themed friend-instances with what are, in essence, vending machines for Animated. For instance, you have your Gold Beach area where you can pay gold (or Cash, much like shop items) to spawn Sand Fluffs, Anchor Bugs, Sand Castle Golems, and Water Spouts; or shell out the big bucks to spawn a Landshark. It would be, essentially, a build-your-own KJ spawn. whee Of course, that would require making new one-room versions of the many different areas we have in zOMG! (though I admit I already wanted one-room versions, as I think the scenery would make for a good tutorial), so it would be difficult - but I can certainly see how it could be popular. sweatdrop

When you said "Friend Fight", though, I pictured a Coliseum mode that let me pick a friend to beat up; pick a user on your friendslist, and it spawns a single 'Animated' with that user's name and avatar, just for you to let out some anger on. What else are friends for, eh?
