With his compliment Lia felt her face actually get warm as her cheeks began to turn a little red. She never blushed for anyone and if she has it was a very long time ago. Usually compliments especially from guys they basically always had some hidden meaning behind it, like they were only complimenting her because they wanted to sleep with her. With Emerson's though it felt actually sincere or maybe she was just so lapped up in the drug she didn't know any better. Still it made her smile "Thank you" she said to him.
His hand felt warm against her cheek and the tingling sensation she felt when he touched her was still there. It almost distracting Lia until she blinked and thought of a joke "I have no idea" she told him as her eyebrows furrowed "None of my friends were exactly funny and telling jokes was not something they did" she told him.

Emerson grinned, seeing Lia's flush of pleasure at his compliment. The lady blushes? False modest, or true modesty? He thought that she blushed like she did everything else he'd seen so far: with a kind of forgotten grace. He dropped his hand away, tingling away from the heroin, from that strange feeling Lia was leaving him with whenever he touched her. Em was quite enjoying that.
"Are you trying to tell me that you don't know any humorous jokes? What a sad world. We must remedy that immediately. Tell me, how do you feel about Jew jokes?"

When his hand left her face Liana almost whined wanting his hand there again but she kept quiet, she was not one to whine about anything and she was beginning to think there was something seriously wrong with her now.
"Jew jokes?" she questioned "Well I don't know how I feel about them why don't you tell me one and I'll let you know" she said and smiled at him.

"Well, my father always took the 'drown or swim' approach to life, so I think I'll apply the concept to this; let's just jump into the deep end, shall we? What's the difference between a pizza and a Jew?"
Emerson shifted his position lightly, trying to keep his legs from falling asleep, and to give Liana plenty of time to return with the obligatory "what?" In doing so, he notice his arms were covered in goose bumps. The temperature must've dropped again. Oh well. He hadn't noticed, if it did; he was blissfully numb, floating in a pool of lukewarm water occasionally shocked when he brushed against Miss Mierlia.
"Pizzas don't scream when you put them into the oven. Funny, right?"
He smiled quietly.

Liana couldn't help it as she began to laugh while she shook her head "Oh that is so mean but it's still funny" she said she was laughing because it's a cruel joke but it was definetly true. She smiled as she ended her laugh "See I didn't get mad" she said "Will you tell me another joke?" she asked him.

"Racial jokes are hilarious. Or at least, they're our favorites."
Emerson took the time to think of another joke. He thought it would be best to "expand" Liana's own repertoire of her jests so he settled on a sexist joke instead of another Jewish one.
"Okay, what do you say to a woman with two black eyes?...Nothing; you've already told her twice."

Her eyebrows furrowed and she was trying not to laugh but her lips were forming up into a smile again "That is....not funny" she says as her laughing was practically coming out of the sentence. She sighed shaking her head "Okay I guess it is funny" she said to him "Though I hope it was just just a joke and not something literal" Lia said arching her one eyebrow up as she stared at him her smile still on her face because she was joking and he definetly didn't look like a guy who would ever hurt a girl.
Lia looked at him as she felt her head getting heavy. She was going to lay it back down on his thighs but instead she moved closer to him sitting right next to him and her head suddenly rested on his chest as she wrapped her arms around his body as her eyes began to close. "Hmm you feel so good" she said softly but then her eyes snapped opened "That came out wrong" she said letting out a small laugh.

"Not usually, no. I try not to hit women, but then, I try not to hit anyone...besides during a game that is. Football is a contact sport after all. You should see some on the hits I 'accidentally' give the keepers. Uh, goalies is what I believe you yanks call them."
One of Em's arms went around Lia reflexively, acting as a counter-balance. He kissed the top of her head lightly. He smiled, a whiff of Lia's perfume floating up to his nostrils, tickling them.
"Can't be wrong if it's true. Paradox. You rather I felt bad? No, don't answer that. Another question, or you do you want to go back to your room? You look exhausted."

Liana smiled feeling his arm around her as she snuggled in closer to him. "Well we can sit in my room instead of out here in the wet grass" she told him "that is, if my roommate isn't back though I don't know where she is at" Lia let out a sigh "I just don't want to be alone" she said softly she shook her head having a kind of sadness in her eyes though Emerson couldn't see since her head was under his chin "It's fine though" she said "I should be getting back if we're still going for that run tommorow I need to be able to get up" she says slowly pulling back. Liana pulled up a grin as she lifted her eyes to look at his.

"First day of a new school, sure, who would want to be alone. Do you even know what your roommates' name is?"
Emerson stood, brushed off the stray pieces of grass from the back of his trousers. He offered a hand down to Liana to hoist her up onto his level, a charming smile perched on his lips.
"What, don't tell me that you actually sleep when you're high? It's a good thing you came here when you did; we have a lot to teach you, Yank."
The half-Russian, half-Frenchman bent down and nuzzled Liana's neck lightly, kissing just over her pulse. He pulled back, his fingers laced through hers.
"Let's go get warm again. Is your room on the *first floor, or ground floor?"
[*I don't know if you're aware of this, but in many European countries, the very bottom floor is called the ground floor,, and what American would call the second floor is what they call the first floor, etc. ]

When he was telling her that she shouldn't be alone she smiled with gratitude as she never liked sleeping alone hence why she had her dog einstein but he wasn't allowed to be at her school so Lia didn't doubt she was going to spend a lot of time at her own home.
"Well I'm sorry that things are done different in america" she said smiling to him "And I can't help it if I suggest sleep most of the time I'm about to pass out from the nights I have" she said meaning just drinking or crazy rich parties.
Lia thought about her roommates name but it was hard when Emerson was kissing her like that sending her heart pounding away and her blood pulsing "Brianna" she blurted out "I think that is her name" She said but her voice came out almost a little breathless. "Though I have no idea what her last name is and I have on the ground floor but my hall is opposite of Amelias" she said.

Emerson shook his head, like he was genuinely sorry for the mistakes of the world. Moments later, he perked back up, like nothing had happened.
"Brianna? That's a nice name. Come on; let's go see if this Brianna is home or not. Lead the way, Liana."
A slip of the tongue, her name fell from his lips as an afterthought. He liked her name well enough, but just thought the nicknames were somehow...nicer, no matter how crude they may be or become.

Lia looked at him when she heard him actually say her name, it was her full name which not many people used except her father but it was definetly different than him calling her 'Yank' all night long, though already Lia was getting used to the nickname.
Turning she was wondering if she should hold his hand but then she thought off the subject since holding his hand just seemed more of something someone in a relationship would do so instead she settled for walking beside him. Once Lia got close to the building she was sure mother hen was asleep but still even when she opened the door she couldn't help but look around just in case she did nightly rounds.
Seeing that the coast was clear she walked forward and down the hall opposite of Amelia's hall. It was all the way at the end of the hall which was obviously the edge of the building as Lia pulled out her key. On the door it had Brianna's name which is how Lia knew of her name. "This is my room" she whispered which then she added in her own mind 'Well duh, of course it is' unlocking the door she opened it and looked around seeing the other bed which would be Brianna's bed was still empty. "I guess she still isn't here" she said to him shrugging her shoulders.

"Maybe she's out with her boyfriend?...or girlfriend. I don't know her, but there are a lot of those kinds around here. And vice versa."
He shrugged and moved fully into the small, pink room, closing the door behind him. Liana's side was clean, empty, clinical, but Brianna's! It made up for whatever Lia's side was lacking. It was a vomotious mass of pink and other such pastels. It looked as if she'd taken the "girl's room" display from Rooms To Go and completely and totally transplanted it into Steering. Money doesn't mean class. It was sad, really. Emerson assumed that Liana's suitcases (since they weren't present) had their contents, her "street clothing" flooded neatly into the boudoir and the suitcases placed at the bottom of her closed closet where her school closes would be hanging from their hangers neatly.
"...Cozy."

Liana glanced at Brianna's side seeing all the pink and almost wanted to shield her eyes away from it. "I hope that just because she likes pink doesn't mean she's going to be this bubbly almost cheerleader type kind of girl" she said as she made a little shiver.
Looking back on her side she frowned slightly "Sorry, I haven't gotten to unpack yet" she said going to her suitcases as she pulled one in particular out. She opened it easily and inside there was sheets and a comforter she was able to squeeze in there. The sheets had dark blue in them with black and green lines around it. Lia walked over to her bed stripping the ugly sheets off and began setting up her bed quick and easy. Once she got her pillows up and her comforter on top she looked at him and grinned "All right, that's a little better" she told him.
