It was a full 20 minutes before Koko emerged from the observation deck, having finally cried herself out. She trudged towards the cargo bay, wanting to get started on her idea. She had once helped Finn create a metal limb for someone who'd lost a leg; it had been crude, but well built & with the tools the Aiolos had to offer, she was sure she could do a better job for Zed. The numbness that had been in her arms was now a dull throbbing. Only a few of the wounds continued to bleed particularly heavily & the mercenary just didn't seem bothered enough to patch herself up. After a few minutes, she entered the cargo hold & dragged herself over to the pile of metal she'd set aside for herself.

Zed dropped what he'd managed to make beside Koko. It was a metal wrist that contained a small flip-out railgun that he'd modified.
"use this..."
He wandered off back up to the cockpit and got to flying the ship back to Ares.

Koko briefly looked up as Zed as he dropped the metal next to her. Seemingly working on auto-pilot, she began piecing sections of metal together, welding & slicing them with a lazer-edged cutting device she'd found. She worked slower than normally, mostly due to the fact that the metal kept slipping when her blood dripped onto it. She made sure that the joints bent fluidly & installed hydraulic-type systems into the construction that she could attach to the pilot's remaining nerves.

Zed returned to koko with some bandages for her arms.
"I'd put em on for ya, but it'd be a pain in the a**."
He smiled and sat down beside her, having a look at what she'd made.
"Looks good, we'll have to test it soonish."

Koko half-looked at the bandages but made no move to take them. She didn't speak to the pilot & lifted up the metal arm in front of her, turning it to check she hadn't made any blatant mistakes. She tweaked one particular hydraulic wire leading out of the limb & a fairly small blade sprang out of the side - it would be lethal if used properly. The railgun retracted into the wrist section when she flicked another wire, presumably the same one that would bring it out. The design meant that, once this thing was attached to Zed's body he would be able to control the attachments much the same as any other part of his body. The mercenary sighed & laid the limb on the floor not to far away from her, seemingly satisfied that it was finished.

He looked at the new metalic limb and couldn't wait to try it out, but he was worried about Koko.
"Fine then, I'll do it."
Zed picked up the bandages and attempted to bandage one of Koko's arms.

Koko's body stiffened when she felt Zed touch her & she suddenly whirled round, grabbing his remaining arm tightly. Her voice had become icy & dangerous, through her face betrayed the intense guilt & sorrow she was feeling.
"Don't touch me."
Releasing him again she stood up & turned away, leaving him with the metal limb. Tears were streaming down her face again when she managed to lock herself in one of the smaller crew's quarters. Falling against the door & burying her face in her hands, Koko slid to the floor.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.... It's all my fault. I nearly lost him too... not again, please, not him too...."
The blood on her arms mingled with her tears, the salt making her wounds sting.

Zed sighed then looked at the metal arm. A few minutes later he'd managed to fit it, which was no-easy task as he'd had to use his feet at some point, but it was securely attached. He moved the fingers then tested other movements which all seemed to be in order.
Zed wasn't a fan of the 'bare metal' look, so he wrapped the arm in several belts.
He tested the blade, which flicked out and in smoothly, then the gun, which drew quickly and was deadly accurate and powerful.
I sure hope Koko's okay... I gotta thank her for making this... but maybe she'll take it the wrong way... Ah, girls are so confusing...

Koko didn't move for a long time, she figured Zed would attach the arm himself rather than waiting for her to come out, so she didn't bother. She finally seemed to realise just how badly her arms were damaged, so she dragged herself to her feet, opened the door & wandered towards one of the bathrooms. She'd spotted a small medical kit in there earlier & there was obviously water to clean out the lacerations. After running her amrs under the streams of water from the taps, the mercenary wrapped both arms in support bandages; the material immediately turned red from her blood, but at least they were covered now.

After packing the medical supplies away again, Koko washed her face of grime & tears only now remembering that she'd lost a handgun on the other ship.
Means I'll have to mod another one.... great....

Zed walked back to the cockpit then entered Ares orbit. He was fairly bored, so he de-activated the ship's artificial gravity in the cockpit and crew's quarters.
He floated through the ship, spinning in the air.

Koko began floating into the air & crossed her arms across her chest as she turned upside down. She had a feeling Zed was the cause of this lack of gravity - thinking about him sent a twang of pain through her chest so she shook her head & made her way towards the crew's quarters again. Looking around briefly, the mercenary pulled herself into a sitting position & sighed. She wasn't sure what she was going to do now - being beyond tears at this point - so she just resigned herself to sleep. Eventually she drifted off, despite the lack of gravity.

Zed found Koko and moved her to the cockpit without waking her. He spun her around for a little while then moved her to the crews quarters and onto a bed. He re-activated the artificial gravity then left her to sleep as he took the ship down to land.

Koko moaned slightly & opened one eye, jolting into a sitting position when she woke in a different place to where she'd fallen asleep. She looked around quickly & released a little sigh when she realised she was still in the Aiolos. Her bandages were pretty badly stained now so she exhaled heavily, pushed herself off the bed & found another medi-kit; after re-dressing her wounds she made her way through the ship. She didn't think she would cry again so it was time to bite the bullet & talk to Zed again. Whether or not he'd have been worried was one thing, but she had a feeling the pilot wouldn't approve of her avoiding him. Another twinge passed through her chest & she cringed, guilt washing over her when she thought of Zed's missing arm.

Zed wasn't too bothered at the loss of his arm, in his opinion the new one was better as it didn't feel pain and could be modified.
He hovered the Aiolos over the second largest city on Ares, December city.
December city was about 200 miles from the sleeper ship city, it was built in the landing crater of one of the huge terraforming units from the Ares sleeper ship. It is well known for it's massive stone walls built around the edge of the crater and having 2 street levels, one on the outside ground level and one on the bottom of the crater 50 meters below it.
He was looking for a place to land as several small airships whizzed around the Aiolos, attempting to communicate via a radio system.

Koko entered the cockpit & walked over to her gunner chair, noting the small ships passing the Aiolos. She immediately slipped her helmet on & spun towards the screen, activating the front machine gun turret. Her finger hovered over the trigger but she didn't fire just yet - she waited for instructions from Zed. The occurance was giving her a good distraction from the conversation she was going to have.
