"Well, I'm definitely going to have to look at it then," Earendil grinned. "It sounds very interesting."

Celeborn grinned. "Give your brother a visit while you're at it, why don't you? He's in the second barracks, near the main house. I'm sure he would be glad to see you. By the way, what's your name?"

Earendil chuckled, then bowed his head. "Earendil Aldrich, son of Ruel and Luthien."

"A pleasure to meet you, Earendil Aldrich," Celeborn grinned. "Welcome to Haven."

Lin smiled, she wondered though if Daeron was who Arthael meant. It was possible depending on where the second barrack was.

"Before I forget Celeborn, you might want to arrange for someone to take Aerin's shifts for the next few days. This is actually the first time she's slept in... well centuries apparently. Caranthir doesn't seem to be worried, so she might be up tomorrow, but just in case she isn't... or needs more time to herself."

Which is always possible really, there was a lot Aerin was going to have to work through now.

Celeborn nodded. "Understood. I hear she has a visitor that she wasn't exactly happy to see. Well ..." He grimaced. "She was and she wasn't. If that makes any sense."

"Considering what we know of the situation, yes, it does." Earendil frowned. "But what we hear and what we see is so conflicted ..." He turned to Lin. "Maybe we should ask Aurin about what's going on. Surely he would know, at least some of it ..."

Not to mention he was someone who was willing to talk.

"Well at least he might give us a better idea about the people involved," Lin admitted, "Well... I would hope."

The thing was Aurin was like the Homeguard in a lot of sense, he might not be willing to speak ill of his King if there was any ill to be spoken off. It was pretty much treasonous to do so from her understanding.

"But don't forget he is still a Captain, he might not be able to tell us much."

"I know," Earendil nodded. "But even that would tell us something, wouldn't it?" He arched one eyebrow at her. After all, if he declined to say anything, it would mean that he had a negative opinion. Otherwise he wouldn't have any trouble speaking.

"I would suggest that you do that, then," Celeborn nodded. "I have to get back to my rounds. But please, let me know how things go with Aerin. We are all concerned about her."

"We will," Lin promised.

It was good to know that Aerin did have a lot of support but then again Haven became after a while like a great huge family of sorts she thought.

Once Celeborn was gone again, Earendil turned back to Lin. "So," he grinned, "what are the butterflies telling you today?"

He was amused. He had never seen so many at once, and especially not on a person. He rocked Miyuki, trying to keep her from wanting to get at the butterflies.

"Hmmm..... patrol reports...." her eyebrow quirked a bit, "Rhea dropping the bomb... I think she's going to introduce Aurin to Ulani and Ulrich. Ulrich is a horrible teaser I wish the man luck."

After many years Lin had finally figured out what had confused her so about Ulrich's behaviour towards Pen. The man just liked to have far too much fun. She watched as a few flew away.

"Should we go visit the other barracks?"

Earendil's eyes lit up. "Absolutely!" he agreed. "I haven't seen my brother in decades ... only a few times since he left home, and that was ... at least sixty years ago now."

Such a long time ...

"Then let's go, I probably haven't seen your brother in just as long," Lin murmured, "He didn't always stay in Haven, and the last I heard of him was back when Aroma was... I think fourteen."

Which was a very, very long time ago considering the fact that Aroma now had children of her own as far as Lin knew. She headed back the way they came, not daring to get close lest Miyuki try to eat a butterfly and it seemed like she was really trying despite the attempts to distract her.

Earendil grinned at Lin. "And seeing as Amora had a child when we first left for our Southland trip, that was a very long time ago," he commented. "So I think it's safe to say, it's been a very long time for both of us."

He tried putting his fingers in Miyuki's hands so that she would play with them instead of trying to reach for the butterflies. "How long do you think we should wait before we go to the Eastland?" he asked as they walked back through the forest. "Not that I'm a hurry to leave, but Aurin has a letter to deliver, and he does have to get back to his own people sooner or later ... probably sooner rather than later, since he's been gone half a year already."

On the other hand, he wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery about Aerin first, before their source of information could leave.

Lin sighed for a moment and thought about it, really they didn't need to stay long. Only long enough to meet everyone, catch up, and just rest for a bit before going off again.

"Not too long, if Caranthir is reading the situtation correctly, or so it seems, I would not want Aurin to remain here longer than needed. Besides he does need to get home eventually, but I do want more information on this since Rhea will be going back with him."

She shook her head at the whole thing, what a mess. It was supposed to be a happy thing, not full of tears.

Miyuki blinked at the fingers for a moment before reaching out to them, they weren't as intend of going away and she liked that. She liked being able to hold them... and taste them...

Earendil let Miyuki suck on his fingers, though only the first bit of them. His hands were clean, after all.

"I wish Aurin weren't caught in the middle of it," he murmured sadly. "But I suppose that the only way we're going to know anything is to speak with him and Aerin, perhaps even at the same time."

"If it would work better," Lin nodded, "Because at this point it sort of makes me a bit uneasy."

Well that and like her father Lin didn't like to be played with like that. That island was just a wonderful place it would be a shame to ruin it because of one man who possibly just wanted to give a particular impression of himself.

"At any rate we can talk it over with Rhea later. I still need to visit Cindy..."

Earendil agreed wholeheartedly. He wasn't comfortable with the idea of Rhea going back there at the moment, and he was certain that if her parents knew what was going on, they would be a little hesitant as well.

"Who else is there to visit?" he asked. "I know we still haven't really talked with Ulani and Ulrich, though we did meet them yesterday ... and there's their daughter, and her children, and their families ..."

It almost made him wonder if he would ever meet all of them before they had to go again.
