((Ahh but sadly Laren does not know this, or even have the items on her person. The young elf has yet to be informed of anything regarding the main plot or side quests that the party has completed. Thusly as a halfway decent roleplayer I must act as I know nothing about these. Here is a tip for when we next rest, someone should inform my charry of matters past.))

Laren blinked and smiled as she looked at the book, obviously it was something of interest, "Forgive me if I'm overstepping my bounds good dwarf, but may I inquire on about this book?" the elf went over to the bookcase and tapped the top of the pristine edition.

Selce listened to the back and forth conversation of the Archmage and her new familiar. She shook her head as a rueful smile slowly spread across her face. She'd have to get used to the fact she had someone else to look after as well as she did for herself. "Well as much as I wish I could take you up on your offer, I must find my companions. Oddly enough though before we venture far from the city, we would ask you some questions if you could spare the time. Mainly portending to a certain mage that you may or may not know. But that is a long story better suited for when the others are here to tell you their parts of it, I must leave." She said to Alanna and bowed. "I thank you for helping me gain more strength in the arcane arts, and for helping me bond Melkor." She mentioned and nearly started to pet him. She drew her hand away quickly as she remembered she did not know this small dragon. "If you want to you can come and meet my companions." She cooed sweetly to Melkor before she started to walk away.

((Purest is very much correct, the party has not made mention of their discoveries within Serak's dungeon to her specifically. The details were entrusted to Tjaden through Erron, but as far as Kal and Laren are concerned, they currently do not know anything about what occurred there.))

The dwarf's eyes widened when he had realized what she was referring to.

"It's me own work. Me grandfather's grandfather was the crafter of so many o' the relics of the ages. I wrote the book after me grandfather passed away... It's not somethin' I typically discuss, so few people care about the artifacts of the world anymore. In any event, the first volume's been lost fer centuries. This is jes' what little I recalled from my grandfather's tales of me ancestor. I'd rather not discuss it still, because it was me father who lost it in a bloody drinkin' game."

The dwarf gave a deep sigh.

"Look, lass. Don't ye have somewhere else ta be? A fine lookin' pointy ear such as yerself shouldn't have much trouble finding fun jes' about anywhere in the city. Leave an old dwarf to his work if ye've got no further business here."

(I thought since we were using a sort of party inventory unless someone specifically "took" an item she'd be able to have seen it :shrugs: my mistake.)

((Quest Items are a bit different. Selce currently holds the book and Erron is carrying the bow string. Once you guys have spoken with Franklorn, you may leave the artifact book and pieces with him for safe keeping. As for inactive players, any quest items in their inventory will be transferred to another player.))

((I like that system. It adds a bit of reality to it all, besides even if Laren had seen the book and the bowstring it doesn't mean she knew what they were, or even read the book in the first place.))

"Then I shall intrude upon you no longer, however be aware that I shall keep an eye out for the first book while I am on my travels and bring it back here should I find it. After all I think its proper place should be with you," She then gave him a smile in farwell and left him to what was left of his meal.

As she walked back to the inn she pondered her conversation with the dwarf and decided it would be best to tell the others about this encouter, after all other adventurers were the best sorce for reliable information, or at least the ones obssesed with righting wrongs and all that nonsense.

Kal nodded to the man and took his leave, heading to his room to lie down. He would not fall asleep, but merely relax his body for the coming thievery. It would take quite a bit of skill and tact. He needed his body to be in it's best condition, which meant giving it time to digest the food it had just taken in.

(Ack i forgot the name of the Inn!)
Selce looked around at the base of the tower to gain her bearings before she followed her earlier path back to the gate. There she gained the help of a young guard to show her the way to the inn, they were roomed in. As she entered the inn, having thanked the guard profusely for helping her find it on nothing but scraps of it's name and what he remembered from the morning. She noticed several things. The first that she was hungry after her ordeal to gain a familiar. The second was that at a quick glance she could see none of her companions, and sat down at a table in the back of the taproom after ordering some venison and spiced wine. She made sure her room was in order here and ate slowly, enjoying the food and the rush of emotions and feelings from Melkor.

(( It's "The Sleeping Swordsman". Also, side note, you may control Melkor yourself. If you need me to puppet him for reasons such as asking him a question that you do not know the answer to yourself, then just let me know at that time.))

Tjaden did not have to wait long before Selce walked into the bar.((ouch..lol))
However, it seemed as if she did not see him at first glance. He was hunched over his cider at the bar while she took a table. Pushing his now empty plate back to the bartender with a nod and word of thanks, Tjaden curled his meaty hands around the cup, dwarfed by his digits, and slid off the stool. His heavy clumps heralded his arrival at the table.
"You mind company?" Tjaden asked Selce as he moved into her field of vision. "The halfling went to bed....and we don't have much in common anyway."

((question: Is Melkor still with you? Because if he is Laren may just have to freak out.))

Laren finally made it back to the inn, her recent discovery still on her mind. Luck would have it, as she entered the inn, that the group, or at least part of it, had returned to The Sleeping Swordsman. Thus she made a beeline to the two she recognized the wizard and the Orc and sat down with them. She overheard the Orc mention the Halfling and she smiled, "Ahh so he did make it make alright. I feared he would end up with a dagger in his back after he ran off after those rouges."

Selce hadn't noticed her orckin companion at the bar. She nodded her thanks for company at Tjaden and then gave a polite grin to Laren as she entered. "Oh really, Tjaden your not getting in trouble are you?" She asked and had a funny thought. "I know I have, now I have someone tied to me. I guess you three should meet since he will be traveling with us." Selce gestured importantly at an empty spot on the table, as Melkor climbed Selce to get to it, and jumped onto the indicated spot. "Greetings, my name is Melkor and I am glad to meet the friends I have seen in my master's memories." He said in a slightly whistling tone.

Melkor held his wings out and showed off the vibrant colors there. Selce couldn't help but smile at the little drake that was bound to her before she started her tale. "I went to the Mage's Quarters to find a teacher, to teach me a bit more of the arcane arts. Alanna the Arch-Mage helped me get a familiar and gave me the title 'Arcanist' of the tower. I was going to ask her questions about the odd disturbances but figured it would be smarter to do with everyone that had a part in it." Selce told them, she also recounted her exscursion into the Void. Finally she just stared at Laren and Tjaden to gauge their reactions to all that had happened.

Laren looked at the small drake and raised an eyebrow, "So... this creature is what? Your pet? Companion?" The ways of wizards were strange to her. Why would anyone want to bind their soul to another being? It made no sense to her. Sure, making friends with an animal was something to be admired but to limit yourself to only one such friend and in such a strange way as well?

Laren decided right then and there that she did want to ever become a wizard, it was just to strange.

"By the ancestors!" Tjaden spoke, a little louder than he would have liked. His immediate reaction was a mix of fear and amazement. He had never seen a dragon himself, but he had heard of those that took out entire raiding parties on their own. Like so many things in the desert of the Scorching Sun, dragons were dangerous.

After a moment passed, Tjaden collected his wits. The creature was stunning once the initial wave of fear had ran through. Tjaden took a seat and looked from the creature to Selce, wondering the same thing as Laren. It spoke, so it was intelligent, but Selce was its master...so was it a pet or a companion?

Elsewhere at the city gates, the doors opened wide as a convoy of dwarves from Deepanvil marched into the city.

The bearded folk spoke with the guardsmen and made their way towards the government District. They were dressed as emissaries for the most part, though there were roughly six who were in plated armor. Two also carried priestly vestments, including a familiar face.

The dwarves communed with one another attempting to determine their best course of action.

"It's already late, the durned humans've already gone off ta their homes."

"I say we jes' rest at an inn fer the night an' talk with the council in the mornin."

"Here, here!" Another exclaimed.

"Ale's on the captain!"

The captain laughed and nodded, raising an even louder cheer.

"Ye're all free to do as ye wish tonight. As soon as morning comes though, we make for the Council Chambers and speak with them an' we're on our way back ta Deepanvil."

A multitude of "Aye"'s occurred at once as they all dispersed. Ronus, one of the clerics of the convoy inadvertently made his way to a familiar place, an inn known as "The Sleeping Swordsman".
