Sighing slightly, Eduard sat up, leaning back against the bed's headboard. This way, he could look directly at Peter. "I told you before that you were like a part of my family, didn't I?" the Marquess asked softly, though his voice held a sort of demanding quality to it, as if he was trying to get the idea across to Peter through his tone as well. "Yes. You more than anyone." Eduard finished, hoping that this news didn't push Peter away for some unknown reason.

P e t e r - W i n t e r sBut Peter, on the other hand, was touched. He just found it a little hard to believe, that's all. He could never get over the fact that there was this huge societal gap between the two, and that Eduard cared for him more than anything, even if he wasn't an aristocrat. Peter's head ended up on Eduard's chest somehow, and he sighed. "You're... so different." He smiled up at Eduard. "It surprises me every day, and I guess it's a good thing." He was somewhat glad that Eduard didn't ask the question back, since he wasn't sure how he would answer himself. He didn't quite feel that Eduard was family exactly, but he cared a lot for Eduard. That made him very confused.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Eduard wouldn't have asked the question. It's not that he didn't want to know... but it was simply a bit outside of his known and usual protocol. He'd never asked anyone how they felt about him. Well once... he had asked his father. Since then, he hadn't asked. Ever. "If I wasn't different, then I would be a hypocritical snobbish b*****d." the Marquess joked.

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter snuggled against Eduard's chest. "And I'm glad that you aren't," he murmured. Peter enjoyed the comfort and warmth that Eduard provided. When he was with Eduard, he felt quite protected, and he only realized how much he wanted to be near Eduard when he was without Eduard. Like last night. Peter shuddered a little, remembering the awful feeling of disappointment mixed with great fear that had flooded through him when he had given up hope on Eduard's coming.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

"And I, in turn, am glad that you didn't simply run away after fully realizing who I was to begin with." Eduard added, smiling slightly as he kept his arms comfortably around Peter. "Just think of all the fun we would have missed out on, hmm?"

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter stared at Eduard a second before replying. "You mean," he held up his left hand, admiring the blue sapphire ring that rested on the ring finger, "the day that I sought to return this lovely thing to you?"L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Nodding, Eduard's violet eyes found himself focusing on Peter's expression as the actor admired the ring. "That's exactly what I mean." he smiled softly. "Just think... I would be bored to tears without your company and you would be having to listen to that blasted Theatre manger lecture on and on about one thing or another." the Marquess teased.

P e t e r - W i n t e r s"You know, Mister Bradley wasn't all that bad." Peter mused, "Without him, the theatre wouldn't have been as... festive as it was." Peter laughed. Peter then returned to the subject of the ring. "This is your family ring for marriage, right? Such a waste that arguably the most handsome men of men won't be using it." Peter was slightly teasing Eduard. Peter was also reaching a new level of comfortableness when he was around Eduard; not only had his stutters gone away, but he was also starting to return some of Eduard's jests.L a d y - R o s a l i n e

"I'd rather not have to use it by declaring a love that isn't true." Eduard replied, his voice soft as he smiled. "Just think of it this way, Peter... think of the pain of a women, if I were to marry her, and she were to realize later that I never really did love her..." he shook his head, obviously having thought over this subject before. "I would be sleeping with other women because she wasn't as special to me as she should have been. I... I can't use a women like that. It simply doesn't seem right or proper... a lie..." sighing, the Marquess closed his eyes for a moment. "Then again... I suppose I'm lying to my father no matter what, hmm?" Eduard's smile turned mischievous as he gently kissed Peter's temple.

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter laughed. Eduard's kiss had tickled him. He settled back down onto Peter's chest. "Eduard..." Peter murmured, thinking carefully about his next words. "What do you have against marrying?" It definitely wasn't a problem of women, Peter was sure of that. There were more than plenty of those around. And surely Eduard should have been able to find someone not to bad in all of England.(('Tis okay, dear friend. 'Tis okay. I've been sick with an ear infection. xD)) L a d y - R o s a l i n e

With a slight sigh, Eduard moved his right arm back, placing it beneath his head in a pillowing sort of way. It made him more comfortable at least. "The only thing I have against it, Peter... is marrying for the wrong reason." the Marquess' voice was soft and understanding. It was a brilliant question, after all. With a bit of a smile, he continued. "I would never wish to hurt a woman by marrying her for her prestige. I despise marriages of convenience, after all." Eduard shrugged. "I want to marry because I love her... not because my father wants me to get married."

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter smiled widely. "Well then aren't you a man with high standards..." he joked. "After all this time and you still haven't found someone to love?" Peter found that very hard to believe. He was left to wonder if Eduard had loved someone before and something had happened to end the relationship. To Peter, all it seemed to take was a person who could make the Marquess laugh, who didn't care about wealth, and who could make the Marquess feel at ease to come along. Surely that person wasn't all that difficult to find.((Soon, people will die from them! Mwahahaha!)) L a d y - R o s a l i n e

P e t e r - W i n t e r sPeter sat in silence for a while before replying. "I find it a little unbelievable that... in all of these women, not a single one of them suits your fancy." Peter fidgeted idly with the sapphire ring, surprised that he could even be playing with something so priceless. He put the ring back on and smiled a very innocent and naive smile at Eduard. "All it seems to take is someone who can make you laugh, doesn't care for money much, and can understand you. Can't be all that hard to find someone of which you enjoy their company, can it?"((It's all part of my master plan... Mwahahaha!)) L a d y - R o s a l i n e

Eduard tried not to laugh at the statement... but he really couldn't help it. Genuinely amused, the Marquess shook his head slightly, "Peter... how many nobles have you met possess those qualities?" he asked with one raised eyebrow. "Aside from myself." That, in itself, should help answer the young actor's question regarding why it was so hard for Eduard to find a suitable woman to court.
