Let's just say you're flexing your multitasking muscles.

But I have no multitasking muscles :'D If I do, they're incredibly weak.

I am such a monotasker .__.

Maybe it's the kind of thing that gets better as you practice.

Dunno. Or maybe it's something you're born with.

I think that would only happen in cases where you're born with four arms.

But I think some people are just natural multitaskers.

I tried using wikihow to teach my friend how to whistle but it didn't work.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 2:08 pm

xD

I only learned to whistle after I learned how to play the flute :'D Playing the flute really does help with that capability.

I would think so. Is playing the flute harder than say, a clarinet?
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 7:50 pm

I think it's hard to say. It's really personal preference, the quality of the instruction you receive for the instrument, and whichever type of instrument you learned first. Every instrument has its pros and cons.

I really don't know much about clarinet, but from what one of my friends who play clarinet said, I do know that it's a bit easier to play higher notes on an clarinet (since you just push a key or something to go an octave up). With a flute, higher notes completely depend on your airstream and, for lack of a better phrase, how you "blow into your instrument." There's no fancy keys to help you with it.

My band conductor also said something about the flute having the least resistance out of all the instruments in the band, which did make it more difficult in an aspect (that I can't remember).

Flute also has somewhat of a more awkward posture, what with holding an instrument sideways. I remember that when I first started, my shoulders and arms would always be really sore after practicing.

But I'm sure that clarinet is also harder than flute in other ways. I just don't know what, since I don't play it sweatdrop

I used to play it but I didn't enjoy band so I quit after 6th grade. But I know that the low notes are pretty hard to play and the high ones are easy. And the way it rests on you thumb makes it hurt.

So you used to play flute? But don't you also play a gazillion other instruments?

I've never had my thumb hurt before though neutral

Funny, I started band in sixth grade.

I played the clarinet.

Why would I play other instruments?

A music elective was mandatory in sixth grade.
