Alek let out a soft chuckle that brushed against Ashierra's ear as he lightly squeezed her. "Love you." He replied softly while looking at her. Alek's kisses trailed flames down Ashierra's warm skin that jumped back and forth between the two cattaurs. Thankfully for everything else that while there were sparks of fire flickering around the two they were right next to a creek. Like the twisting fire, Alek's tail twined itself in with Ashierra's as a bridge of sorts between their flames.

Ashierra's eyes found Alek's as their magic danced together. The light played off his skin and made his eyes bright. Love... "Please do." She chuckled, giving him a quick peck, her fire starting to make that sharp crackling noise like before, flashing a smirk at him. "Sorry I didn't ask first then, because I'm already in love with you." Grinning, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a deeper, hungrier kiss than before that lasted the rest of the night.

((M'kay! Skippin' time!))

~A week after that night, while travelling along the ocean shore, Ashierra started getting belly aches. They tried changing food and kept on moving, but the aches wouldn't go away. Soon, she progressed to not being able to keep food down, and yet somehow was gaining weight. Thinking that travelling could go on hold, Alek and Ashierra found an old but well mantained home to purchase temporarily, until she got better. After time, the sickness lessened, but the weight kept coming...~

Biting her lip at another wave of heartburn, Ashierra sat up from the nap she had been trying to take. Lately, she'd been tired, hot (more than normal), and moody. She was also hungry a lot, but kept that repressed as much as she could. How was she gaining all this weight? She hadn't hunted in weeks, and hardly left the house save on cool nights to sit just outside the door. Pushing up from the bed, she wobbled at a bit of dizziness, cursing softly to herself, brow furrowed in irritation and turning to glare at her rounding belly.

Alek propped himself against a tree and listened to the waves crashing into the cliffs below. Hanging on his shoulder was more food and such supplies that he had just purchased from market this morning. As much as he hated leaving Ashierra alone while she was so sick like this he still had to keep the house well supplied.

Thinking of Ashierra made him push from the tree and away from their ocean view. "I better go check on her." He whispered to the faint breeze that trickled by before walking through the front door. Quietly closing it behind him Alek walked into the room that he had set up for Ashierra, "I brought food from market." He didn't ask about her health but his gaze spoke plenty of worry as he looked over her.

"Maybe I should bring a healer up here?" He finally started before biting his bottom lip thoughtfully. "You aren't well enough to travel down to the town after all."

Ears flicking as her mate entered the house, a mix of affection and annoyance fluttered her chest. He was always around the clingy brat! No, that was the sickness talking. He was being so wonderful, helping her through whatever this was and not running off. She rubbed a hand against her face. She was so grumpy!
Looking at the bag, she silently toddled over to it, grabbed the first thing her hand touched and took a big bite into it. Bread? Good. Maybe help the heartburn? With her mouth full of food, she suddenly looked at the rest of the loaf in disgust, tossing it back onto the table. Eating the entire thing as she felt like doing would only make her fatter.
Face flushing in embarrassment, she had to swallow a couple times to finish the bread before talking, looking down sheepishly. She had tried to fight this on her own... but it wasn't going away, and the aches in her joints was getting worse as the strain of the excess weight pressed on them. He shouldn't have to put up with this. "Probably should." She agreed reluctantly in a quiet voice. Getting a healer wasn't giving up, right?

Alek's shoulders slumped in hidden distress as Ashierra just tossed the rest of the loaf onto the table. That had been her mood for the past couple of weeks - always changing her mind about something from being affectionate or grumpy. The male shook his head. Something tugged at him that he should know what this sickness was, but a subconscious part of him was too afraid to even whisper the possibility.

"We should." Alek ran a hand through his hair helplessly, "Not that we cant' handle it on our own, but a healer would know more." He commented with a light sigh before started towards the hallway, "Let me fix you some tea first before I even think of heading back down that long road...is that alright?"

Twisting her torso, popping a few joints in her back, Ashierra kept her face down, nodding silently in agreement. Hopefully, the healer could fix this. It was like she had more than just herself in her mind; different, foreign personalities fighting for space. "Tea would be nice." She said glumly, following after him and reaching the gently pet Alek's haunches. "Maybe iced tea? To change things up?" Regular tea was hot, which was nice when she wasn't already sweating from the heat that only she herself seemed to feel. How was it possible that she was too hot?! No need to add hot tea to that fire.

"Alright. Iced tea it is." Alek smiled encouraged by Ashierra's touch, "Though you have to watch me, else I might accidentally melt the ice." He could make that weird yet nice fruit tea that was sweet. That lady from the market had put up a nice argument about trying new things and Alek grinned as he had agreed with her by finally buying the tea bags.

"You can sit if you want. There's some dried fruit, bread, and such in the bag too ...if you feel up to eating anything." Setting his bag on the kitchen table, the male began to pour water into a kettle that he kept on their stove. Tea had been actually a common thing for them lately and so he tried his best to make everything as convenient as possible. Cheating with magic, the pot began to scream at an impossible rate and Alek chuckled. Those poor taurs that had to wait boiling water out.

Ice came from the cellar and Alek soon returned with two full mugs that chilled his hands. Pouring the tea, Alek temporarily enjoyed the warm steam before watching the tea being cooled by the ice. "Tada." With a faint smile the male put a mug in front of Ashierra. "Your tea is served, milady."

Looking up again, a small smile graced her lips at his tease about the ice. About to argue the need to stand, her legs started objecting to her weight. Her mood dropped along with her body as she sat down, arms crossing over her chest.
Surprisingly enough, she found herself enjoying watching Alek move around the kitchen. Unlike herself, he was still as fit as ever, and even the small movements made his muscles ripple underneath the bright fur. Ohhh, if only she wasn't fat and crabby.
She was able to give him another smile by the time he served the tea. "Thanks." She took a sip of the soothing tea, feeling the chill travel down her chest with a shiver, her tail flicking with pleasure.

Alek purred happy that he had managed to get a smile from Ashierra. Though watching her made his concern double. Urgency seemed to really be needed so Alek downed his tea with a couple of swallows. "Okay, Ashierra." He leaned over and kissed her gently on the cheek. "I need to run if I'm going to make it to town and come back with a healer before dark."

Though as he picked up his empty satchel, Alek paused and looked back to his mate. "Will you be okay or should I wait til tomorrow?" He asked with a faint frown. Could things wait? It wasn't like Ashierra was dying, but he was getting awfully worried at this point.

"Okay." She reached a hand out to pet his fur before he left, suddenly not wanting him to go. She had already been alone this morning. No, the healer was important.
The cold of a large gulp contrasting with the heat, her tummy did a flip of agony. She gagged softly, wrinkling her nose and squeezing her eyes shut to keep the bite of bread down. She squeezed one eye open to look at the male. Did she look as bad as she felt? He looked so... worried. "Wrong tube." She muttered, clearing her throat. If he knew how she was feeling the heat so much... It just wasn't right. "Go ahead. I'll be fine for the evening. Probably the sooner the healer is here, the better."

Alek relaxed after Ashierra cleared her throat. Okay she had just swallowed it wrong. Really he needed to calm down. The male felt awful for his worry - really it wasn't like she was dying. She was just feeling bad was all, right?

"Alright." He turned away from her but peeked over his shoulder sheepishly, "Love you." Alek whispered before heading from the room and out of their home. Quickly the male moved through the next hours in town searching for a healer who he finally found and started rushing back to their house.

Hesitating before taking a smaller sip carefully, her ears flicked back at Alek's soft words, having been listening to his retreating paws. She twisting around, but her mouth had tea in it and he was already scurrying off, her throat feeling tight. Finally, she swallowed and whispered back to the empty doorway. "Love you..."
When she had finished her tea, warmed by her hands by the time she was done sipping, she stood and looked around. She wanted to lay down, but didn't want to just sit around. She put the food into the cabinets, at one point throwing a tomato at the wall angrily. Why did she have to get sick like this? They had just become mates... Things were happy... Now she was ruining it all. Shoving the rest of the groceries away, she cleaned up the tomato mess woefully. Something else Alek didn't need to see. Looking around the house, she finally gave in to her body's need and went to lie on the bed.

Alek returned to the house but this time was accompanied by an elderly cattaur with faded gray stripes but sharp green eyes. It had taken him a time but he was finally satisfied by the older lady's sharp wit and experience. She would know what was ailing Ashierra.

"She's inside here." Alek shushed the healer before peeking into the bedroom, "Ashierra. Are you up? I brought a healer." His tail twitched as he opened the door wider. He knew that the healer was on a tight schedule so even though he wanted to check on his mate first it was best to let the healer talk to her.

The last thing he heard before closing the door behind him was the elderly cattaur's soft voice. "Hello there dear. Care to let me have a look see?" Alek sighed as he leaned against the hallway wall. Now all that was left was to wait for the two of them to come outside the room. Hopefully it would be with good news too.

Ashierra was staring blankly at the ceiling when she heard Alek and another approach. She sat up slowly to defend against dizziness before Alek opened the door. "Okay."
Rubbing her forehead when the healer entered, she shook her head in defeat. "Yeah, go ahead." Looking up, she gave a soft gasp. What was with healers and green eyes? At first, she had thought it was the healer from before who had fixed her hand. It couldn't be though. Sighing, she turned so that her cat body was more accessable for examination, and tried to explain what was happening.

"Ah." The elderly healer gave a purr of faint satisfaction as she checked over Ashierra and began to explain things to the female cattaur. Of course she did this in hushed tones so that it could be a surprise for Alek who was still waiting outside. After all what family wouldn't be happy to be having children?

Alek frowned as he waited outside. Really waiting was so boring - his ears perked up as the door opened and the healer came outside into the hallway. "How is she?" He immediately asked.

"Fine, better than fine." The healer gave a laugh, "You can go see her. I mustn't linger around any longer else I won't make it back to town. Unlike you youngin's I be a wee bit slow."

Blinking in confusion Alek lead the cattaur towards the bottom of their hill before running back into their house and into Ashierra's bedroom, "So...what did she say, Ashierra?" He asked sheepishly. Maybe he shouldn't be asking so soon, but he was worried! Why did females have to be so secretive anyways? He pouted - that old lady could have just told him what was up instead of leaving like she did.
